I was looking forward for this compression, thank you so much, i bought the speaker and waiting it in Brazil ☺️
Wow I didn't know that tribit speaker sounded that good. And that Uboom does sound even better. Im waiting to receive my Uboom in the mail. I should get it by next week. Great comparasion Oluv . can't wait to hear this in person.
I’d been hoping for a direct comparison for a while, many thanks.
Had the Tribit for a long time and use it to fill the campervan or campfire area with good quality sound as a portable single speaker. It packs well in a rucksack and has been superb. I bought 2 of the Earfuns for home use, the simple reason being the stereo coupling and ability to produce a decent set up for use at home. Not only is the sound brilliant, but the larger form factor is aesthetically pleasing in a home set-up. Anyone grumbling about sound quality of either brand has too much time on their hands, both are very good but have different uses.
i have recently purchased the tribit maxsound plus, and let me tell you this thing sounds really mature for its size. however, i was going to order the earfun, but the firmware version that it would be shipped with and all the hustle of the updating process is what held me back. i will definitely wait until the next batch with the upgraded version.
I've tried those one and I have to say that You should make sure that You need those. Sound quality is indeed nice, but I don't understand why there is so much weird problems about build quality... and I don't think about only speakers. I bought Uboom L by recomendation at Reddit, I thought (Is it really better to buy Uboom L instead of cheaper Tribit MaxSound Plus? Yolo) after MONTH right speaker started to buzzing so hard that it tooks all joy from hearing the music. I'm waiting for second speaker because I've sent complaint about that speaker, as a proof I will send soon test of sound - only if I find song that won't get copyright claim. Check info about endurance of those devices, it will save You alot of trouble in future.
I have 2 Maxsound+ and 2 updated Earfun UBOOM L. Yes, the Earfuns are sounding better - as you can hear in in the Video.
BUT two paired Maxsound+ have NO significant latency, when you watch a Video. The Earfun "Gaming Mode" for lower latency works only on a single device, which means: two paired Earfuns produce a significant latency on Videos.
If you never watch Videos over two paired UBOOM L´s, this should be no issue for you.
Everyone has their own tastes and definition of music tonality. I own a B&O A2, which I love, and for the longest time I was looking for a portable speaker that sounded close and played louder than the B&O. The Uboom L definitely amazed me at how it performed and at only $60 I already bought 2. Stereo mode sounds even better. Oh, I sold my Bose Soundlink Flex because of how the Uboom L performed.
Fantastic job improving on my all time favourite MaxSound plus Oluv👏. Looking forward to receiving my pair 😊.
Can't seem to find much info on this, but what should the firmware version be to get Oluv's proper tuning? Patreon version says 6.29, there are also other comments saying Earfun released a different version, 0.4.4. Appreciate some advice on this
I own the UBoom L, but I think you can't go wrong with either speaker depending on price. Earfun sounds relatively more U shaped in this recording on my headphones at lower volumes - making the treble sound relatively harsh at times and deeper bass. This could be my setup at my computer, because in real life, I don't notice the same treble issue. I think the Earfun does a better job overall, especially as the volume increases, but the Tribit is a decent option if you can get it below $50 with a discount. It is an older speaker design
No it's not U shaped? It sounds pretty much flat. I think you didn't hear the recording. And update to the latest firmware.
I've been a 'true believer' of Oluv for years ordered 5(!) Uboom Ls through Germany which were then recently forwarded to me here in eastern Ukraine as gifts for others. Even with the updated firmware... this video makes me wish I'd gotten the MaxSound+. The mids are hollow and papery with the Ubooms as demonstrated in this video. There is no refinement like in the Denon 250 or (of course) the Helsinki. The MaxSound+ will give you sparkle on the mandolin of Andrew Bird and the horns of Vulfpeck while the Uboom L's contour leaves them washed out and lacking. I think Oluv's largely über-polished musical selections result in reviews (and EQ profiles) that don't work all that well for some very fine music coming out these days -- Billy Strings, Scary Pockets, etc. -- let alone Coltrane's horn with Red Garland, or the toms on early Dave Matthews, or Béla Fleck's "Music for Two" with Edgar Meyer, and on and on.
It's quite unhelpful to see critique dismissed by Oluv as it is. I'm not looking for sonic tricks and gimmicks -- KRK 6402s deliver in headphones more or less what I'm looking for. But the current firmware EQ profile really does disappoint and anyone who can hear the MaxSound+ when it's not being talked over might want to reconsider.
Yeap, I own the tribit and apart from the mediocre spatial representation and some micro-inconsistencies between lower and upper midrange there's little to complain at this price range. It still sounds way flatter overall than the other speaker shown here, which is what I was seeking as a baseline for being able to enjoy listening to music. And I wouldn't fret about missing some "extended treble response" on such a speaker, especially knowing that it would probably have been accompanied with unnatural and sibilant treble, as clearly demonstrated in this presentation of the Earfun. I'm happy to lose some upper frequencies, if only just to get away from that ringing that feels like a bug inside my ear. But maybe he's being dismissive because he's the one who cannot hear them, so...
What use scenario would you recommend maxsound plus for? Indoor/outdoor/clear vocals/ any other?
@@thomashelbayall of them, but because of size limitations, lower frequencies will diminish outside without reinforcement. Vocal clarity is definitely a strong point.
I just bought this speaker I’m excited and I get to support your channel. I’m wondering if you have the Tribit blast tuned to your liking? Can you please share your equalizer if you do?
I have bought a tribit maxsound plus for my brother couple of years back. Now i bought earfun. But i disappointed very much with earfun quality. It's bass and sound desible is much lower than tribit maxsound plus.
UBoom L is very nice. It is a good product category, is it is a mid size portable speaker and there are a lot of bad speakers in this category. The smaller category of speakers have the Tribit micro which is at least one very good speaker option. Are you interested in getting involved with tuning larger speaker sizes? There are decent options in that category, but those tend to be pricey. The affordable largely speaker options tend to be lacking in sound
Yes Oluv this is the video many have been waiting for
When will the next batch be ??? You don't clarify about dates :( , for the rest it seems for this price a solid unit. If I order today, Can you guarantee that it will have new firmware??
The speaker looks and sounds good. I may just get one from the next batch.
you did an amazing job with the tuning in this speaker and I LOVE mine!
It's not perfect and so far there's not such a thing of a perfect speaker and when the day comes that will have a "perfect" bt speaker. Some people will still complain about it. So don't worry about such people.
The earful sounds incredible for its size. Just WOW
Hi sir Olaf, I'm confuse now how to update the Uboom L because it seems like there are many fw and update that's going on regarding the speaker? Could you please provide a new update onhow to update the firmware in the right way and what is the correct version of the tools and firmware needed
Hi Oluv,
The Earfun speakers has no application with EQ.
Why is this so?
The tuning is excellent, Oluv. Thanks for sharing it. 👍🏼
You are saying people must be deaf if they don't hear the same virtues you claim to be hearing on the speaker you are trying to prop up. Don't you hear that "extended treble" producing some pretty annoying sibilance on your video though? That triangle on 10:00 would have driven me crazy. Maybe your hearing drops after 10k? Maybe people should be dismissing your listening abilities similarly?
Maybe maybe
I really love the sound character tune by oluv..for me it sounds like big speaker.some bluetooth speaker need to crank up to revive/deliver the bass .but this tuned by oluv still deliver bass even in low volume.just ignore their comment oluv.its hard to explain to them.especially those who are tone deaf.i quess they are plotting something because their position in the industry/game has change because of your hard work.and i really beleive that.they afraid the future upcoming brand & factory will choosing you and not them. I am also 100% sure they feels uncomfortable as usual now.even though i cant affort buying some high quality sound, doesnt mean my taste also cheap.(hoping some give away will you?🙃)i stand with you sir Oluv.💪stay strong
Hope you can have a chance to review the Tronsmart Force Pro. It sounds cleaner than the rest of other models so far.
Was this stated to be an updated production unit? Not one of the personally tuned speakers. Just curious, not sure if I missed it in the video.
No its still the same speaker with the updated firmware of which there is only one.
@@johndoe-vc1we in previous videos he used his personal unit that received all the sound tweaks. Later it was found out that the production units had large sound variation from his personal unit which was the whole reason to update the firmware. So in these comparisons it would be good to know if it is a personal unit with sound tweaks or a random production unit that everyone else would get if they were to buy one with the firmware update that everyone would receive.
I'm just curious if it was stated that it was a random production unit or not cause that would obviously change the comparisons if it wasn't a unit that everybody else would receive. It probably is a production unit, I just wanted to clarify.
How does the Tribit compare to Jbl Flip 5 or 6?
Speaking of your recording, I was wondering if the UBOOM L was too bright judging from the recording, but I know that the MaxSound+ clearly miss some sparkle, air and resolution in the treble area.
I really think now the UBOOM L must sound quite fantastic.
Can't wait to receive mine, just ordered 2.
What are you listening with? Sounds very smooth for me. I have the UBOOM L and no need to worry about the highs, their lovely.
Thanks for your video. I have purchased the Tribit Maxsound around a year ago, too. Must say, sound is okay for a portable speaker, when I'm outside I don't need best sound 😉 BUT I'm very disappointed about the running time. Advertised with a playing time of round about 20 hours, the battery on my model lasts 7 hours....sometimes maybe 8 hours....but that's it. And no, I don't use it at max volume. Well okay, 7 hours are enough for most cases, but not even half of the advertised running time. Sorry for my english, I'm from Germany... 🙂
Sadly my UBOOM Ls dont work longer than this on a single charge
The advertised playing time is always useless. You have to play on a very low volume level to get that advertised playing time.
for me it's easy fix, i would just replace the battery, it's not that hard.
It's a tricky product for the masses since it aims to disappear and reveal the music and not show itself. Consumer tastes want to hear something, usually bass, that is overdone so it is easier to have an opinion about the sound. The less there is to say the better the sound.
I have two of each of these. The Uboom L is a big upgrade in every way to me.
The MSP sounds really good and definitely better then others in this size. The L sounds more complete and less metallic. When it comes to real bass drums you'll her the MSPs limit pretty soon. It mostly stays clear but it can't go the pace of the L. The Tribit is better suited for everyday use due to the design (covered PR, more compact, mounting option), but the L clearly sets itself apart in terms of bass and overall tonal presence. This is due to the larger drivers (55 vs 45 mm), the larger casing, and of course also the tuning.
The MSP also has 2 PR's, one on the frontside and the other the backside.
@@RKooistra14 Thank you! Of course you are right! I forgot about the one in the middle front... I have just edited it. 🙋🏻♂️
I feel bad. I just saw this now and I just bought the Tribit three days ago also based on watching your Tribit video. Now I wish I bought the earfun. And it even says it's "tuned by Oluv" with your picture! Anyway, I put it in my cart and will decide if I should buy it or not.
I have a Suggestion / request , after seeing how you can tune cheap china hardware to sound amazing i would love to see another speaker tuned by you but this time with more budget on hardware . some people who listen to music 24/7 like me will invest $200 or even $300 into small speaker and i can only imagine how it will sound.
Would definitely agree that both sound great, but the UBOOM L has a fuller, richer sound.
Which one ? Earfun uboom L, tribit max sound plus, Tozo PA1
I'm using Tribit Max sound+ in stereo and I'm quit satisfied with that setting
The Earfun highs sounds unnatural and way too boosted from the demo (around 9 to 12khz). Other than that, sounds pretty good.
The Tribit also sounds good for acoustic music at medium volume.
it's maybe your headphone?
@@oluvsgadgets I'm using the HD600 (no eq), which are not the brightest headphones.
honestly while im an audiophile, when i was looking for portable bt speaker i was not looking for sound quality but rather bass, small size and roughy neutral tonality. Thats why i own 2 x motion booms and before that i had 2 x motion +
how would you rate the neutrality of these speakers in stereo mode ?
I have two motion + they’re awesome. And I have JBL boombox 2 for parties
Gave away my SMP. Sounds good with EQ but every time my daughter or someone else hit the XBass button the sound setting is default again. Idk why didn't fix this... Next thing is although the L also doesn't have an eyelet or lug to attach a cord, you can at least stand it upright. The bulky 1 kg bar SMP I can only put horizontally on a flat surface. Not a bad speaker, have used it for a while, but I like in total even the Sony XB30 and the Denon Envaya 250 better.
@@Jiggy609 i thinking about buy second motion boom because it play rally good after good eq :) buy bigger speaker even with tweers will be not more stereo than two speaker in distance in low/medium volume , i think :p
The motion boom is indeed a great speaker even without tweeter and just full range titanium cone drivers, its still a well sounding speaker. The only thing I find odd with the motion boom ( my motion boom ) is the inconsistent sound at lower volumes where the DSP limiter kicks in for not freaking reason
For the bigger soundcore brother. the Motion Boom+ is just awful even with the fix they did earlier with the 6khz peak
Don't worry about it to much man. Your right. You can't or will not please everyone. Your speaker in your opinion is better but that's your opinion. No need to say people are messed up because for whatever reason their opinion is different than yours. Your speaker seams to sound better than the last time I heard it. I have a xsound go which I think is ok my only complaint is that they have a little tinny sound.
vs the original Uboom?
How bout the xboom for comparison old but a solid competitor
which speaker is best for near field listening and sounds better in low volume? mostly i'll use it in my room placed beside my laptop. I have denon but for me it sounds best/big if i'm like 4-5 meters away. When i'm near i don't really like how it sounds and i have to increase the volume to around 70 to appreciate it. I'm looking for a speaker that's just close to how my mac m1 laptop sounds but a little louder.
I know exactly what you saying. Every other Bluetooth Sound Test / Demo I have watched, and I have watched a ton, use the same Hip Hop / Drill Music but when Audiophiles demo say Bookshelf Speakers, they use Smooth Jazz, Classical, Pop, Rock ad then Hip Hop. And Yes, I do understand these speakers are mostly designed for "bass heavy music" but most people over 60 are not into that type of music and enjoy a more mellow sound.
Just found the Tribit Maxsound plus for $33, going to give it a try after seeing this vid.
13:16 What? You max the volume of Tribit to make it harsh and then you leave 1 step left of volume for Earfun?
Did you even listen to what was he talking about?
He left that one step for softer recordings, otherwise will resort in slightly more "pumping" effect.
But Earfun is louder anyway.
@@lukabosnjak3829 He said, He usually leave 1 step volume below the max vol but he never did it to tribit. It's not about how loud is it. It's about sound quality. He doesn't want to max the volume of Earfun because he want to make it sound more relax, but he never did to Tribit because he want to make it sound harsh against Earfun.
@@shogun5436 even at 80% vol the Maxsound is already harsh ..

Glad you are reviewing tribit. Its my new favorite brand.
Well the stormbox max
I have both and each one is good at its level......not comparable at all......the Tribit has less power 24w vs 28w .....smaller drivers...45mm vs 55mm...different configuration (front and back passive radiators vs side passive radiators).....Your tune works excellent on the Uboom L.....with some EQ the Tribit may sound better itself.....The Uboom L is a great speaker against the more expensive competitors like the JBL and others.....I also have the SoundCore Motion Plus and the Earfun Uboom.......They also sound good .....I would like you to make a firmware update for tune the Uboom as well.....Also.....if you want to really get the best sound.....use them wired and hear the difference.....They should include at least Aptx HD for streaming CD quality music to them....
Your... Comment... Is..... Quite.... Bad.... To..... Read.........
Unfortunately, where I live, Earfun is 3 times costlier than Tribit. Would you still recommend it considering the price difference?
7:50 that why special app with eq to make speaker sound what user like, how it make sony, jbl, soundcore and even tribit. I really think about this speaker to change my tribit maxsound plus another speaker for trips/vacations
I am still using my Harmon Kardon Go + Play that you recommended. I only use it occasionally for outside parties. Not sure if this would be an upgrade or not. Would like to hear a stereo setup outdoors of the Uboom L.
Even with 4 of the L you wouldn't get the deep bass punch of one Go&Play. It's simply physics. While the L is way more balanced and without this pretty strong dip around 3 KHz the HK is simply a little party machine. It's two completely different ways to enjoy music.
You do not compare a Go + play to a uboom L. The uboom L is a smallish speaker while the go and play competes with the big boys.
It's very clear, no other speaker at this price range can beat the earfun for clarity and balance sound, how could someone complain really? I am a musician, Singer and there's no doubts about earfun uboom l
Uboom L , how can we check what firmwareis on the unit? Will official firmware update page be on the net?
With the speaker powered up, press/hold the Power and Bluetooth buttons simultaneously and you’ll hear the firmware revision.
The latest firmware can be found on Earfun’s website.
So which number does it say before you update the firmware ?
Earfun UBOOM vs UBOOM L?
The MaxSound Plus was keeping up with the UBoom L at lower volumes and at the treble region it sounded more defined, crisp and definitely less metallic. However as the volume scale went up in both speakers things changed the MaxSound Plus was suffering from a lot of internodulation distortion which made the bass and treble sound mushy. In comparison the UBoom L had less sound clipping and a better bass response and although the MaxSound Plus sounded much better at lower levels I found the upper mids to be always kinda veiled. Overall the EarFun is definitely the better speaker of the two and under $100 price range it is hard to beat and personally I like it's sound much better than the Charge 5's.
English / Englisch
As I mentioned in your other video, I have two units that sound really different. And if there are other variations in the sound, there are maybe variations that have less bass or less treble than what your expectations are and how you actually configured the speaker.
Good point! Unit variation really defeats the purpuse of copy-paste all those self proclaimed tuning masters. Sometimes they can provide good starting point, but in reality everyone should EQ their speakers to specific unit purchased.
That's my biggest concern about these smaller, cheaper speakers. The sample-to-sample variation.
Very good point actually. There's tolerances in the driver's that come off the line and the more you pay the higher the tolerance can be. I assume that's apart of the cheaper Chinese brand strategy is to save money and have a slightly lower tolerance. Which has been done before and proven to be alright, I'm not knocking it, I have 4 Anker speakers.
Which one is louder and has more boomy bass? Just wann know which has more power in terms of loudness and boomy bass.
I would get some boombox maybe

I really can recommend the mifa wildbox for comparison. in my opinion far better than the motion boom
I agree 100%
The Wildbox is a pretty decent speaker, especially with a bit of EQ to tame the increased treble introduced by the current firmware. However it is significantly more expensive (and somewhat larger) than the Uboom L. The Mifa Wildrod would be closer in terms of size and cost to the Uboom L.
@@Grommet2007 You're right about that. Sadly the Wildrod instead is far from good. Just wanted to point out that especially in comparison with motion boom, jbl extreme and similar the wildbox is quite a good competitor. the low base and crisp Sound are incredible (of course with the newest Firmware only!) and i got mine for 89 Euros which is a really good price for the quality

Earfun better than motion plus and charge 5???!!
UBOOM is better stock tunning out of the box provided they ship you one with Oluvs tuning. However motion+ is better after EQ, have no lag (good for movies, YT, etc), have better bluetooth codec (aptx). Motion+ went up in price some time ago, while UBOOM now cost 60$/Euros so that's siginifcant difference you have to decide for yourself, but I mean it's not like there's a huge difference both good speakers. If yor priority is video streaming and you're willing to experiment with EQ then get motion+, if you want to have good sound out of box, don't want to EQ tweaking and use it for just music then get uboom. As for charge 5 haven't listened to it yet.

The key thing you said here is that you wanted a speaker that satisfied yourself. But you seam upset that some people have a different opinion than you about these two speakers saying something is wrong with their ears. Whats up with that? I haven't watched your videos in a while but can't recall you ever being so harsh. Can sense a little arrogance here. Not the oluv I know. Btw. I think the earfun sound quality is better but is to airy. I like the tightness of the tribit. If you could take the sound quality of the earfun and the tightness of the tribit. I think you might have something their.
He wanted the earfun to sound decent off-axis that is why it's more airy. If you notice in his reviews he will move around and gauge the sound. If all you do is listen on axis then yeah what you said applies
@@johndoe-vc1we ya most of my listening is on axis. If I'm working on something outside the speaker is pointed towards me. I would think if you were doing something where you are constantly moving off axis you probably aren't as worried about the sound quality as you are busy. I would rather have a speaker that sounds good when pointed at me so I can sit or stand there and enjoy it. Not one that sounds good when I walk away from it.
@@johndoe-vc1we I do think he could tune that back a bit to meet in the middle and have a kick ass speaker or make it switchable wit two different listening modes. I really liked the quality of sound just a little to airy for me.
@@wthigo77 what happens if you move it off axis so it's less airy.
@@johndoe-vc1we why buy a speaker that you have to point away from you to sound better. That's not how it is suppose to work. It seems he is trying to reinvent the wheel. I get what he is trying to do but he is going to push people away who would be potential buyers(me).like I said most people will take this out sit down point the speaker towards them and listen that's how you should get the best sound quality. If you are walking around doing stuff you aren't really thinking about sound quality that much you are thinking about what you are doing. But when you grab a drink go sit on your back porch set your speaker down and listen it should sound the best pointed towards you with the sound going straight to your ears. Not pointed in some other direction where you loose the sound.
maxsound es la máxima the best
They both sound the same to me... No need to upgrade my Tribit MS+
The uboom still produce delicious bass while in low volume.tribit completely unhearable in that volume.
Xsound mega should be as good as uboom L, people say. No one said, that the maxsound plus would be as good. I don’t know, where you heard that nonsense.
By the way, I sent my two uboom L back at the end.
Xsound Mega isn't good .. the sound is Dark and Directional .. bass is the only good about that but About serious music .. it falls apart in terms of Clarity
I am in vacation and I carried with me two UBOOM L that I listen in TWS in vertical position with two small wood sticks to keep them slightly upward to be more directed to my ears. For party music.. I carries with me two motion boom that I tuned with MINIDSP and REW to make it sound flatter/better.
Can you share your eq? I'd be interested in that
@@mcjonner ok, I will share it once I am back home.
Here is a link with the screenshots of the two eq settings for on axis and off axis tuning. Let me know if you like them docs.google.com/document/d/1QZ-FOCvZFKQHOm7Z-SEqxCBtwqtiYSlcs0Lgx-rjph8/edit?usp=drivesdk
@@AntoG4RS what kind of music works best with this eq?
@@johndoe-vc1we the frequency response is as flat as possible.. so it is fine for every kind of music.
