- I know why you're scared to move to Indianapolis Indiana! But, should you be? Indianapolis Indiana does not have the best safety reputation across the country. What large city does? Safety and crime is certainly something everyone should have on their mind regardless of where they are moving. I know it's a topic that comes up quite often when I'm talking to people about moving to Indianapolis. Crime of all kinds is concerning but violent crime is the most concerning to a majority. Honestly, crime in Indianapolis is not nearly as widespread as what news outlets make people believe... especially violent crime. I'll have people say the opposite but I'll also have many who will wholeheartedly support what I say. Most cities larger and smaller than Indianapolis have crime. It just comes with living near a large number of people. But should you be scared of Indianapolis? We'll cover that in this video.

I did my truck driving training here and it was tough to adjust to the way of things! People weren’t as welcoming but not the worst to deal with either. Indianapolis really made me appreciate Detroit!
That's saying a lot lol
Any big city has crime.
Fact
No Sh!t sherlock, and in other breaking news...water is wet and the sky is blue
Yes but Indianapolis crime is legendary it's like two different worlds you got Indianapolis and Indiana lol you'll only understand this fact if you been there lived there and met the local
@@xMAD_SCIENTISTx i have lived there..Broad Ripple..and yes break ins were a problem
@@xMAD_SCIENTISTx yup . Basically like Chicago but only a quarter of the size . Indianapolis Is a small city . Get to the north side to the south side in 35 mins lol
I truly appreciate your videos. My wife and I are moving in August. We're going to look at houses next week in Broad Ripple, MK, Bloomington, Nashville and Columbus
Gratitude for the videos

We are moving to Indianapolis in 2024 and your videos have served as an instruction manual. (Lilian Lucindo)
SORRY TO HEAR THAT!

What’s so terrible about Indianapolis? I’m also planning on relocating here from NYC in 2024. Kind of curious why you say not to?
@mrshotty13 put it this way my daughter son-in-law kids wanted to move here told DON'T DO IT AND THAT'S ALL FAMILY!
I like the way you express the conditions in Indianapolis. I wish nothing but peace to this city and everywhere.
Glad to see that Target is still there. A friend of mine used to live a little bit north of there, so we’d often visit that store (and the Marsh that used to be there, too).
Jason, I hope you have a great Holiday Season!
Indy resident here: great video, you're completely spot on! I actually used to live just north of this Target. Eagle Creek & Rick's Cafe Boatyard are awesome. I think Indy is a very manageable city: I've lived here for 4 years now. Like ANY city, Indy has both good & bad spots. I go downtown plenty too, and so far I've never had an issue. Pretty sure the vast majority of all violence and crime in Indy is all in relation to drugs and gang areas.
Thanks!
I like your video and being unbiased
Thanks!
Got any info on moving to Anderson Indiana? We have two kids, one 14mo and the other 3wks old.
I don't have any content about Anderson but happy to chat if needed.
Why is so hard to find a apartment in indi??
What type of rural areas would you recommend ?
Plenty in Hancock, Hendricks, and Johnson Counties
I am from Putnam County, I would recommend any counties near or around it.
Moved to Indy 18 months ago for work. I knew nothing of the area other than don’t live south of I70. Chose Fishers but ended up on the border of Fishers and Castleton. Big mistake!!! All restaurants have terrible service, people changing lanes in construction going 90 miles per hour in less than reliable cars, my car was caught in the middle of a drive by shooting while parked in my apartment’s parking lot. I am excited to move back to the country where people are civil and are not still acting oppressed over historical events that have nothing to do with now.
What does oppression have anything to do with this? I was interested and sympathized at first until the unnecessary racial comment.
Yes! That's first and foremost: Safety.
When I lived in Indy back from my birth year to when I moved to the Atlanta area, 38th Street on both, the east and the west side was pretty good up and down that route. I enjoyed it and have lot of good memories of
Folks - Something is going on with my Samsung tablet that caused me to just have the above piece I wrote go unfinished. Sorry.
What I was trying to say was "... good memories of riding or driving up and down 38th Street." Many places I went to around 38th Street back in those days. Many of those places: stores of all kinds are gone, naturally but one still shines to me on 38th - the famous Crown Hill Cemetery.
I am moving from Tulsa, OK to Indy, what should I expect
Terrible weather and teen violence.
Great City!! Very spread out and many dangerous areas but mind your own business and stay out the way!!! Don't say I didn't warn you!!
@@ryanjg5136just big city living.
Pookie is everywhere. You couldn't give me that damn place, and I live in Baltimore!
Fellow Greenfielder here. Seems here lately we've had an uptick in violent crime and committed felonies. Just hope Hancock S.D. and Greenfield P.D. keep on top of it, or I might have to move my family to 38th St.
I have a job offer in Indianapolis, 50k , it’s me my wife and our 2 toddlers , and I am the only one working since my kids are 4 and 5 I don’t know if it’s worth moving , I am making the same amount in Charlotte nc and living comfortably,
nap town was a great city 30 years ago fr fr i dont know what went wrong???
the word "care" is not appropriate, the right word is situational awareness, b aware of your surrounding especially public parking spots, ATM, gas stations, convenience stores, carry right tools to defend yourself; 3000 lumens tactical flashlight that can damage a human retina or 38 special; however if firearm is used, the responsible owner has to b well rained, spend quality time on range engaging different tactical scenario, your home should b equipped w sensor motion lights, dead bolt and preferrably have a german sheperd or Rottweiler.
what the heck? sex penis
I am moving to US, Indianapolis for 6 months from Europe. Hearing all this shootings, violence, access to guns as long you turn 18... Blows my mind!! 😮 Yes, I am scared... There is no more such a thing as 'American dream'. Sorry to say but US have not the best reputation across Europe from what I've heard 😢 Hope West Indianapolis will be safe as this is where I am going to stay.
Clermont is a pretty safe and decent area of indy
thats like 2 mins of area i live by the marathon lol
Races to be honest
Indy is chill
Me I live indianapolis to friends
moved *to* indianapolis?? woah.
I live in Indianapolis it's a big city there is crime anywhere you go
All your B-reel is of the actual decent parts of Indy (ie downtown) but you’re filming in a literal parking lot lmao. Also, fyi, Carmel and Fishers aren’t Indy. We don’t need more rich suburbanites who are scared of their own shadow in our city
I'm not scared I just can't financially afford it
Then, what can you afford? Indianapolis is relatively cheap
@@Nxkamxbxms I'm 22 years old and saving up lmao

Hello you live indianapolis
I love you video butterfly you video friends
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Balderdash!! There are lots of “safe” places to live in Indianapolis!! Many have a diversity of residents and are safe!
It's so so true. MOST of Indy is safe. This is hard to explain to people.
I love you video 📷
Thanks!
Listen to indy police scanner
Yes. It will be similar to nearly every other big city.
I love you too much Jason my biggest dream is Indianapolis am from Nigeria in Africa
Anybody thinking of coming there. DON'T DO IT!! NO PLACE TO BE!!
I will take your advice
I was looking between Indianapolis or columbus, thanks
@@AngolanAmerican columbus is nice if you don't have to drive to indiapolis everyday I65 backup morning everyday& eve 465 is a joke the road system is a mess nothing is ever planned out.
@Michael Green I currently live in Massachusetts, but I am going to columbus in two weeks, sorry to ask this question, but in your in point of view columbus is better than indianapolis right?,thank you for your time.
@@AngolanAmerican YES way better easy to get around it is a little busy.
The city is BORING
Funny… I have a video that will be released j. The next week or two that goes into the exact opposite of that.
Wherever u go will be boring for u,it is about u not the place.
Indy is dead
Without the charade of a football team nobody would go to town
Drive down Kessler .
Indy isn't dead at all. It's quite lively outside of football season and even when games aren't going on within the season.
@@LivingInIndianapolis how's the Redline doing ? Are they still going to do a blue line
Black folk😮
Because Indy is dead and boring
Where’s the damn volume?
Is it worse than Houston? LOL
Yes, it is actually.
I grew up in Houston, lived there in the 80s and have been living in the Indianapolis area for 17 years now. I live near the nexus of Carmel, Zionsville and Indianapolis and work in the SE part of Indy (University of Indianapolis). I used to drive through northeast Indianapolis to drop off my daughter and then head to work and back again, so I am VERY familiar with Indy, and the northern and southern suburbs. In all those years, I was never once in a situation I felt unsafe, despite driving through the city. My car has been parked at one time or another all over the city. No break ins to my car, no really unsafe encounters other than an occasional (uncommon) person asking for money. Same is true of my family. Yes, I know of a neighbor or two who has had a car broken into, even one stollen. But I think most of my co-workers would give you the same story, few if any incidents. In all my years here, one of my co-workers had her home broken into (SE Indianapolis). I can say I had more than my share of things happen to me in Baltimore, so it isn't just that I live a charmed life. My daughter living in Oakland, CA had nightly gunfire, even a mass shooting. I was a kid in Houston (west side) and at one point our home was repeatedly broken into, that is the only really bad series of things that ever happened to me there. Not sure if this helps, but I think Indianapolis is as safe as any city , maybe more so, in the country. My $0.02.
tryna flex struggle is crazy, ur prob from a good area cause no one does that
