  • Carter Theis from Enoch Magazine documents an 88 yr. old woman named Dottie as she joins the Navigator volunteers to visit inmates at Angola State Penitentiary. Angola State Penitentiary is home to an inmate Bible college and prison ministry that the Navigators help sponsor. Prison ministry is what they do. Christians will wave their rights of safety, make relationships with the Warden (i.e. Warden Cain), and then enter the prison to meet with the men. Sometime they will meet with men who are confined behind bars. Other times, they will meet with groups of men in classroom settings. 90% of the ment at Louisiana State Penitetiary, aka ANGOLA, are serving life sentences.

As a former prisoner I want to thank you volunteers who came to fellowship with me and my brothers. You may not realize how much your friendship and love mean to us in such a dark place. May God bless you abundantly in His grace.

No, thankfully I was in a federal prison in Texas. We didn't have a/c in my building during those scorching summer nights, but thankfully it was nothing like the violence seen in Angola.

So really, the whole visit is about how uplifted the vistitors are. Would they ever reflect that the 70 year old prisoners should be out of prison. Murderers are among the least violent. Most committee a rash, act, domestic or otherwise when young. The blinders the Navigators had was stunning...it is about them. Their inspirational feeling,. What does it take to get them out of their bibles and advocate for 21st century reform? Angola has terrible health statistics...65 in a room, cut backs now 85. La used to rent out prisoners to private land owners. FDR stopped that in WWII. Still, exploitative.

Nope shouldn’t be out of prison. They are violent and have still ended up killing even at old age. This is real life, not a nanby pamby little fairy tale.

@@kishascape You ever read the stats on murders. Usually they are one off incidents in their lives. Domestic frequently. What is the rate of released75 year olds committing crimes. Stats and data are what are needed. La. has a terrible record. Read up on Angola. During Jim Crow, landowners were given inmates to do their work. No pay. Terrible history of abuse, failed reforms, ignorance. Little reform measures. Did produce a prisoners newletter that was an achievement. What is the purpose of prison. Check out Norway, a few countries that rehabilitate prisoners, mind you, not everyone is a candidate.

@@gracewoodard9134The only people who should allow the release are the victim's family. It is none of your business.
