I disagree about removing the gratuities. They go to so many people behind the scenes and they make our vacation special. Everyone works so hard. We’ve been on other longer cruises. They are typically an older crowd. I feel your pain on that thou.
Nah, I would never remove the gratuities. That goes to everyone behind the scenes, too, and it's not that much. Plus, we tip additional. We're booked on the Firenze and can't wait for something different. It doesn't look like it's a good ship for families, which we'll like!!! People need to research ships before they get on.

The kids saw this and were like that's tacky and it looks boring! lmao we cant do that one. Its not far for us leaving out of NYC, so we considered it, then completely removed it from our choices. It looks old fashioned rather than 'grand'. Most ships from NYC are older and boring which makes no sense as we have 4 days at sea. Those who are near Miami, we envy you lol! 🏖🏝🛳
Your Cruise is also what you make it! I sailed on the Venezia last summer and had a blast! And if u read my comment above, I didn't even get to visit all the ports i booked,. That was the biggest disappointment not the Ship itself! Hope you have a good time, There were lots of young families on my cruise because school was out. Too many, they hogged the pools.
Gurlllll! You must have cruised at a time when they changed out all their staff! I cruised on that ship last summer, and it was AWESOME! Maybe it's the time of the year! We had a DJ who came on at one of the ports and he was the talk of the cruise. His party segments were a HYPE. Dance floor always full and popping! They had to be asking to extend the hours for the bar and the dance floor. The Comedians were lit! The theatre shows were spectacular! I could not keep up with all the entertainment. There is so much food, you're bound to find something that taste good and palatable. Now the drinks could use a little more strength. :o). You're never going to get everything 100 but that was the newest, cleanest Carnival ship I've been on. Majority of folks were on the younger side... Teenagers hogging the pools was the negative. We didn't even get to the ports you got to because of hurricane... A bigger Negative! So that's the first BIG PLUS I picked up from your experience. That made all cruisers upset but Mother Nature wouldn't allow it. But the comradery on the ship made up for it. I was watching to see what was so bad and didn't find out until you mentioned it. You should have filmed the bad parts. i didn't hear any mention of excursions you might have done on the islands. Well, I understand that is your experience! I am going again and attending an event on the Venezia, and hope to have a much grander time. Everyone should go have their own experience! Sorry for the long post, but wanted u to know it's not always like that. Blessings
And not to mention the cruise director...MarkQ. Soo much fun! He had parties after every show. The crowd was just engaging and fun. They even brought on a special singer from American Idol.
The ship looks nice but the food is awful in the main dining room and the buffet. If your room is on deck 2, you can forget about getting any sleep. The galley is on deck 3, and there is 24/7 banging very loud. Don't bother playing bingo because the winner is predetermined. I guess there too lazy to use a regular ball dispense machine. My first sailing on Carnival and my last. Ship is clogged with people on scooters. 90% of the employees are miserable.

the main reason that there’s a lot of old people is because it’s a 10 day cruise and it’s in the middle of the school year for most young people. Take a shorter one like 7 days in the summer if you wanna meet some people around your age!
Maybe that’s why you cruise on Carnival, to-my knowledge no other cruise lines allows you to opt out of gratuities. The rest automatically charge it to your room, like it or not. Funny how you you said rather find a McDonalds to eat than the food on the ship. Halarious!

Born and raised in DC.. Of course go-go is my sh*t!! I don't remove my gratuities, but it's not my thing to judge anyone who does.. that's YOUR money, so spend it however you want to.. all love here.. I did a 9-day on the Venezia back in January of this year, and I'm about to go on an 11-day on the Venezia in May - both are solo cruises for me.. I actually enjoyed the ship and the ports, but I did have a complaint or two.. I didn't care for the DJ's in the club.. those were my only real complaints.. your assessment is correct about older people.. the longer cruises are usually more retired people, remote workers (like me), and those who can get the time off.. most of the LIT cruises are shorter ones 3-7 day, and they are almost always leaving out of Miami or New Orleans.. I hope you enjoy your next one! 🥰
When the ship was first commissioned and when Melanin At Sea was on the ship, DJ Cue (or is it Que) was the DJ.. he KEPT the ship rocking.. since he left, it's been real spotty with the DJ's, so the club has been relatively whack..

I just got off Venezia today from 9 day cruise and it was disappointing! I had to get billing corrected twice, food was good if its Italian. All other was meh. They nickle and dime you with extra fees on most things. Supposed to be all inclusive like it used to be!

@@imJess_sayn On average you pay $50-80. A day per person for an inside cabin, that includes food, room, entertainment, etc. Really good value for the money. What else do you want for the kind of money.
I just got off a 12 day sailing on the Venezia.... you're right it's definitely missing that Carnival Vibe - I don't want Italian style fun LOL... the food wasn't all that I love the seafood shack - ate it one day on the venezia and the crablegs were the best I've had but the next day, they were just good. On the other hand, I eat my steak/lamb med well so the lamb in the steakhouse was deliziosa! But the food in the main dining room BLAH, the seaday brunch was deliziosa... I never eat at the buffet but I tasted some of my mom's chinese off the buffet BLAHHH ... the chicken tacos at Tomodorro again were deliziosa.. but nahh I won't sail on the Venenzia anymore, it's definitely for an older crowd.
Seems like the older folks sail late Fall/Winter from what I'm gathering. Maybe the price was right. I sailed same ship in the Summer and it was quite the Hype!
It sure looks like you were having fun, try enjoying the ship more and less drinking so much and maybe you might have enjoyed it more. We’ve cruised Carnival dozens of times and we’re always loved the service; food, shows and ships. Most people don’t like their steak or meat tender and moist NOT cooked to death so it’s as dry as shoe leather like you.

Try going in the summertime. The islands are not blazing hot in the winter as most thinks.
