1984 Hafler DH220 Evaluation and Power Measurement

  • This power amp works fine. I just wanted to do a quick evaluation and distortion check before connecting it up to some speakers.

    I got one for free / but paid $50 for new spare parts, the filtering caps needed to be replaced / if anything I would replace the original / on my amp one was off by 500 uF (so 9,500 instead of 10,000) and the other one was completely dead / Sound beautiful once replaced... still have some other parts and not sure which capacitors I will replace...

      Thanks for the comments. My amp seems to be working great so far. One of these days I'll open it up and check some of the components.

      @@mguess ya no worries, is that most people always left these ON like for years and these don’t last forever, I would def replace the power transformer filtering caps ;) it’s up to you

    Would be interesting to see undistorted levels on a sweep of 100Hz - 20kHz ?

    Worth $200 in good shape ? Got at least two here for sale locally .

      Good deal. That's a great sounding little amp. If I can find one for that price I'll probably pick it up for spare parts.
