That was a textbook defensive performance on Trae. If they shut him down then nobody will step up, when your 2nd best player is Deandre Hunter there is a problem. Both Collins and Capela played through injuries so their impact was not big same with Bogi.

not just the fact that dre is our 2nd best player. He dropped 35 in game 5. Nate McMillan is unwilling to switch from a game plan no matter how bad it gets exposed(likely because he has nothing else drawn up). If he gave Dre the ball more throughout the series and let him work, I reckon that we could've taken 1 or 2 more games, but he decided that Trae who got as much turnovers as assists was going to carry us yet again.

What makes players so great they are playing through challenges like teams with great defense or their own teams are not playing well or dealing with injuries like lebron in 2018 despite the challenges he made all the way to the finals with a bad roster and almost took game 1 against a great warriors team. Great players play well in the playoffs and show up when it matters the mosts and great players even on different teams and systems have made great production. Finally great players back up their play with great statics but it is not during when they game is over but when the game is still alive and also great players impact the game in many ways positive and they can be relied on when needed and can adjust to others teams defenses and play by finding ways to contribute to the team’s success. I think there's 3 things they need to addressed this coming off season.
      1. Coaching staff needs to have a new game plan on how and when to used Gobert especially when teams exposed him as their main weakness defending the perimeter. Either they changed their coaches or comes up with a new tactic.
      2. Donovan Mitchell needs to step up defensively and be the main guy what fans expects him to be. He needs to assert himself on the defensive end and be the leader on that team not just by scoring but by showing at least a little effort in defending.
      3. Lack of perimeter defender is I think is their main problem why teams have a field day on the court either in the paint or beyond the perimeter.
They need a an identity and a leader who will lead them to the next level. Whether it's a coach or a vet guy who can inspire this team.

Mitchell is playing at his peak, averaging over 20 FGA per game. His peak however has been 4 seasons long and I dont see it going down anytime soon. He is remarkably consistent in his scoring over the last four years averaging 25ppg on 20 fga and 5fta with a FG% varies around .017 from season to season. Outside of his rookie season there are no outliers.
I dont see him getting better although there might be a season where a coach lets him shoot more and his scoring ticks up but otherwise this is the best version of Mitchell we will see offensively. In a lot of ways he's a lot like another Utah player, Darrell Griffith, an undersized SG who was remarkably consistent his first 5 or 6 seasons before he blew out his knee and became a much different player out of necessity.
That's still pretty excellent. As a #1 scorer hes not the kind of player who will win you a title BUT if he played for say the Celtics or T-Wolves where he is a 2nd or 3rd scorer he might become a very valuable cog on a Championship team. Hell, his efficiency might even go up if teams cant have to split defensive duties on the court to guard Mitchell and whomever the #1 scoring option are.
But he wont win in Utah unless the team can bring in a bonafide 20+ppg scorer with range. He's excellent but not that excellent.

Derozan literally has only 1 good game and that was game 2 when he dropped 40. Game 1: 18 points on 24 percent. Game 3: 11 points on 44 percent. Game 4: 23 points on 40 percent. Game 5: 11 points on 50 percent. For a guy who averaged 28 ppg in the regular season he played like ass.
