@@EllenRuthSoap Oh yay!!!! I can't wait for that! Thanks!!
I agree, I just REPLACED MINE, but would love to see yours!
Thank you for being so generous with the knowledge you have gained in 15 years of soap-making. I am strictly on the "friends and family gift" scale of production, but greatly appreciate all of the helpful hints.
You are so welcome!💕
You'll get more as your name spreads, no worries there! When you do, pay close attention so you don't waste precious financial resources. Remember insurance isn't a luxury, it is a need as you move forward!
I enjoyed one of your videos of where to purchase ingredients for soapmaking. Super! I am new to soapmaking and enjoy this new hobby so much.
Awesome! Thank you!

Thank you so much for your generosity, Ellen. 😊
Excellent video. Thank you. I have 3 lines of soap these days. Unscented, Essential oil line, and a fragrance line. The Essential oil line sells best, but the Unscented line is gaining traction…so many folks with sensitive skin. Wellington Fragrance is my go to for Essential oils. Thanks for the webstaurant tip.
Thank you Ellen! Great resource. I’ve been making soap for a couple of years and am working on starting a business so very, very helpful. Thank you!
Please, don't forget insurance! A business's should have it. I just had a tornado hit our home and studio. We wouldn't be rebuilding without it! We lost thousands and thousands in product and supplies. It was ALL covered, and I'll never grip about the price again!
WSP has gotten better on shipping speed. maybe they saw your video😄😄😄. Also love the free shipping with $25 or more. thanks for all the info. love your videos!!
Yes, I still like to buy with them and they have great sales!
@@EllenRuthSoap I'm down South so, I use a company called Soap Goods due to the shipping AND the lower cost of some items. I pick and choose as you do. The only thing is Soap Goods doesn't have everything you need to make EVERY product.....mostly it's to do with soaping. I don't know where you are to Georgia, Soap Goods headquarters, but they can be much lower on the basics than anyone else I've found. They don't offer many sales because they're already low on price......They don't advertise a lot and I found them by accident....LOL. I was looking for a brick-and-mortar place to do pick-ups near me and Georgia came up. I'm in Mississippi so......not happening. LOL. Even with WSP having their sale this week Soap Goods is still cheaper on most items. And they are so nice. I had a package of Mango Butter get damaged in shipping and had to call them. They had me send pics to prove the damage and once that was settled they mailed out the replacement the next morning!!! I was happy. LOL.
Thank you Ellen for sharing all that great information.
KD 8000 scale ALL THE WAY!! Don't even waste money on other ones.....really honestly!! 👍
Great video for newbies Ellen, very helpful!!
I'm loving my new scale so far❣️
Thank you so much for doing this video. I’m currently waiting for my tall and skinny slab mold to ship from workshop heritage. I’m so excited 😆 Please keep doing these videos. I’ve learned a lot by watching them.
I'm so glad you finally got yourself a stand mixer! I've watched you so long battle with your hand mixer. You deserve it!
Yes! Thank you!
You are so generous with knowledge and your time, creative and frugal so you can make more art with what you love doing! It shows, thank you once again Ellen I’m building up supplies now so that soon once I retire I can get back into what I love...creating ! Stay blessed!
🥰💕💕
I am very excited to get started! Thanks so much for sharing
What a great video and yes please, I'd love to see a studio tour! :) I just love watching your videos! Thanks for sharing so generously.
🥰💕
I love your soaps and your talent!
Thank you so much for this. I’ve saved so much of the info in this one video to my ongoing business doc for when I get going with everything formally. This is incredibly kind for you to share with everyone.
Thank you so much. I am in the research mode. Seeing what start up will be. Scared, but excited to get started. Your videos are a great resource for me. Thanks again. Much love.
Thank you for sharing! I am a newbie and learn a lot from you. I appreciate you.
What a wonderful informative video. Thank you Ellen!
Thanks for watching 🥰💕
Hi Ellen. First of all, I really want to thank you for this video, and just as you yourself mention in the video - the importance of supporting each other, whether it's about making soap and skincare for your own use or as business owners. Plus, like me, when it comes to shop equipment or ingredients, it's all about being financially smart. I buy everything second hand, except for technically smart gadgets, such as if my TV should break. For certain equipment, you should buy new due to higher power consumption for older equipment. I also "grew up" in an antique shop, and my love in life towards antique furniture and older stuff grew deep. So keeping in mind mixers, blenders and immersion blenders. Now I do not point this out based on what last happened to your mixers, but I came to this myself before I bought my immersion blender. Just when working with soap making, which often steams with strong heat up against the handle. And this is something that happens for business owners, every week Month out and month in. We should not only have in mind when we goes to buy a mixer, that the engine should be strong. It is also important to keep in mind that the parts that you click together, for example on a mixer. Will last you much longer if they are made of metal. This is because metal can withstand heat, plastic does not have the same service life in this respect. What I want to get to is that it is not always the case that, for example, our mixers break due to heavy resistance, for example when whipping hot process. But in the end, the plastic in the upper part of the mixer, for so many years, has been exposed to such strong heat repeatedly - that the plastic gives up. Jii, this text until my tip, went long.. 🥴😆😉 And my mixer has as yours KitchenAid two parts, tho mine has buttons, so I dont have to screw the parts - Its just a click with my fingers and it pops off 😅
The finger click release sounds perfect👍❣️
I loved this video and I love all your others as well. You have one of the most soothing voices and it’s just fun to watch you. Thank you

I just want to thank you for all that you do for us. You have helped me more times than I can count. I love your videos and how you break it down for us. I actually only do melt and pour soap as I have no patience waiting for the soap to cure, lol, but your knowledge of salts and sugars has me wanting to try new things. Thanks again!💜💜

Tip: I have a favorite “Old Faithful” stick blender too , Ellen, with the same problem missing plastic thing… I just secure it with some wide electrical tape -works like a charm! I love getting brand new stick blenders at garage sales-such a bargain.(I kill stick blenders doing HP too! 😂)

Hello Ellen, this was fantastic. The tips on shipping cost from different places is greatly appreciated. Thank you for sharing so much. By the way you will love the new scale, I have been using it for 5 years and have no complaints. The small jugs/measuring cups are available at the dollar store for a dollar, as well as, small silicone spatulas. Thanks again. ❤️
You are so welcome!💕
Great content. Very informative. The boring part of soaping, but you didn’t lose me. Watched it to the end.
I appreciate that!💕
Excellent video! Thank you
Glad you liked it!
Thank Ellen, this Video was so helpful, for me who is beginning this journey, thank u
Glad it was helpful!💕
Awesome video!!
Thanks!
Thank you so much!
Thanks for reminding me. I had forgotten about Webstaurant. I shopped there quite a bit when I first started soaping. I got a two-handled cheese knife there for about $50.00. It's great for cutting slabs when you don't have a slab cutter.
Can you do a video on your shrink wrap techniques and sizes you use?? Specifically on body butter containers
Great information!
Thanks for watching!💕
2nd time watching your channel. You are so kind. Thank you for sharing. I haven't done soap yet, but I will follow you, watch more of your videos and start.
Thanks so much for watching❣️
Thanks great video
WSP's shipping has been so much better as of late! And another great up-and-coming fragrance supply company is Midwest Fragrance Co. Their shipping is super fast and their fragrances are great!
I’m a soaper also. I get a lot from Bramble berry. Thank you for your info. Greatly appreciated.
Thanks for this amazing video Ellen i really enjoyed it ,i was quite happy it was a long chatty video ! If your looking for small scales look up jewellers scales on Amazon there really inexpensive and ive had mine for yrs , they measure tiny amounts and i couldnt do without mine now. x
A jewelry scale is a great suggestion!
Thank you very much for this video I know as a new soap maker this kind of infomation is very important
There was one thing I wanted to know was where to find a good log splitter , thank you again.
I got my splitter from Workshop Heritage
Wow. Lots of good info! Loved it. I was told fragances & parfums are trade secrets and the companies do not divulge any of the ingredients, even if that ingredient is not the fragrance. I have stayed away, but will check these out to see if any are considered vegan, organic etc. So far I stick to unscented or EO. Thx again.
Thank you for the awesome video! I had not heard of Soaper’s Choice, but I have checked them out. I will definitely be ordering. The scale…. I got one recently … the KD8000, and I love love it. And the salt…. I smiled when you opened that box, because I knew exactly where you got it!!! I found some at Dollar Tree one day and flipped out at the price and quality. I have been using it too! Ellen, I am a new soaper, but have gone in head first. I have loved your videos and advice… thank you for sharing with us. I am sure without people like you, mu soaping experience would have been much different, and I probably would have given up by now. It is a lot to learn, but I am
Loving every minute . 😁
I'm loving my new scale too! Welcome to soaping💕 it's so fun and a bit addicting🤣
Mad Mica's is my favorite mica supplier and The Flaming Candle & Cierra Candle for fragrance oils. Thanks for the video
Thanks for sharing!!
A great video!
Thanks!💕
I have so enjoyed Ophelia as well .
Thank you for your info
I have had that new scale you just got for about 3 years. I love it. It is very accurate and has no problem weighing a big batch. I have workshop heritage molds too and they are the best. I need a good speed soap cutter. Yep I started with home made molds too. I am way beyond ready to move out of my kitchen. Real estate is still crazy expensive. I agree with you on the expensive essential oils. Nurture and mad micas are my go to. Brambleberry is just 2 hrs.up the road from me and they charge me insane shipping. I only want fragrances from suppliers that give you the info on CP soaping does it discolor and does it accelerate or decelerate/ This is a really good video.
Thank you for sharing
