First time hitting "Blue Steel" (Full Pull) Snow Summit Hero Dirt, Lightning and Lift Closure!

- We have been in a crazy heat wave for the past 2 weeks. With all the heat and humidity there were huge rain storms and lightning in Big Bear so we headed up because we heard the hero dirt was amazing.
We got there right when they opened and were one of the first on the lift. The first trail we bit was "Blue Steel" this is a brand new trail that was just built. It is a jumpline for those that find Party Wave and Westridge too difficult. This trail was way better than I expected. I think they built it perfectly to go at medium speed. If you hit this trail at the same speed needed for Westridge you will over send most of the jumps so be careful. For those riders that case the jumps on Party Wave and Westridge this is the perfect trail. I think its also a good warm up trail as well.
After Blue Steel we hit Party Wave to Westridge. I was blown away with the condtions. Not only was it prime hero dirt, it looks like the crew fixed most of the brake bumps and fixed a few features that eaten up. I dont think I have ever ridden Snow Summit with conditions that good. After our 2nd run they closed the lift due to lightning strikes. Their rule is if there is lightning within 6 miles of the resort they have to shut down the lift for safety reasons. They will not turn the chair lift back on until 15 min after the last lightning strike. Most people left but we patiently waited in line. It took about 45 min before they turned back on the lift and we were stoked. We got really lucky because we were one of the few that got to go back up before they closed the lifts again. We heard the thunder so we knew they were going to close the lifts so we decided to hike and session a few features.
I was really disappointed we didnt get to hit more trails and runs especially because the conditions were so good but we still managed to have a really good day.

We were up there too when the lifts got shut down due to lightening. I have seen a bunch of your vids and because of that the trails all seemed familiar even tho it was my first time there. Thanks for the great footage.

Great episode! Good call on sessioning muscle beach. We got stuck at the bottom the day before and were kicking ourselves for not staying up top.

Ahh we were just there Friday and got rained and hailed out ended up doing the exploration trail down in running springs we got 3 runs in only but I got 2 on Blue Steel. Sweet trail lots of fun...

@@TommyHuynh the sky went dark on our last ride up so we railed down hearing thunder trying to get a lift back up before they shut down and just missed it...waited an hour then got vouchers for another day .
Love the videos man u are hitting all these trails I rode for years back in the day when I was mtb crazy much younger and faster on crazy old tech stupid geometry MTN bikes lol amazing the bikes and trails we rode back then...going on 30 years and counting..

I really like party wave. I belive the best jump line in socal and maybe in all CA but, after riding this trail again and again i belive snow summit need to come up with a new jump line trail more Sirius then this.
I belive with the new jump line trail in snow valley a lot of riders are actually going to go less to snow summit.

You got any tips for learning to hit bigger jumps? I freeze up in the air or end up getting bucked.
I'm not good at jumping but every jump is different, my biggest advice is follow someone who is familiar with the jump so they tow you in at the correct speed and they could also explain if the jump is lippy or throws you a certain way

Chris is a great free ride rider but maybe to much confidence like one hand jumps, in mountain bike shits can happend any time when you least expected.
Shit happens, you can crash anywhere any time. It's part of the sport especially if you are pushing to progress every week 💪
