- Kelowna is known to be a relatively warm part of Canada, but at -20 C at times during the winter, it is still colder than a lot of places. I was fascinated to discover that one of my friends had continued swimming throughout the winter. I made this film to document her experience of cold water swimming and what she gets out of it.

Usually , does she swim or just submerge herself in the cold water?
How far or how long does she stay in the water ?

Usually a combination of submerging, moving around, and swimming (but not far) for 5-10 minutes.

I've been going in the Pacific daily. 16°. Not cold on this order, but plenty cold: I feel all the benefits she talks about here. Best thing is how your skin will glow and feel all warm many hours later. Think it's very good for your health and spirit.

Mentally preparing yourself is always the hardest part of cold water swimming but once your in the water you get why its so addictive.

We are 4,500 km away from Nova Scotia in BC, but I think anywhere in Canada would be good for this kind of swimming!

I will have to ask Rose to comment, but from where I was sitting (behind the camera), she was shivering just a little bit right after getting out of the water.

@@TylerKrasting I shivered mostly when I wasn't focusing on my breathing as much. The shivering would have to be filmed next year, since weather here now is going in the +40 degrees this week! Cheers!
