Can any Malayalam song Director have the kind of impact Ilayaraja and AR Rahman have all over India? Pranav Mohanlal is half Tamizhan only. His mother is from Chennai. So he reading and writing Tamil is no big deal.
One thing is wrong. Mohanlal was just born in Pathanamthitta as it was his mother's place. Trivandrum is known as Mohanlal's place. His schooling, College, big part of his life was in Trivandrum. Now he resides in Kochi like the majority of film field people.
