  • New Honda Jazz 2020 Crosstar POV Review
    Hello guys, welcome back to Car Obsession, and welcome to another POV review. In this video I'm featuring the new 2020 Honda Jazz Crosstar, the new SUV-inspired version of the Jazz, featuring a 30mm higher ride height, plastic cladding, water repellent seats (yes, really) and of course, roof rails.
    On top of this, it also features 16" alloys, keyless entry, heated front seats, 9" touchscreen, DAB radio, Bluetooth, smartphone connectivity, navigation, front and rear parking sensors, reversing camera, climate control plus a decent amount of safety kit.
    It's powered by a hybrid powertrain which makes use of a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and not one, but two electric motors. A Tesla, this is not, though as it's only able to offer a modest 109hp along with a more generous 253Nm. This is of course built more for town driving, so this is fat from the last word in performance, but Honda claims this car can muster almost 60mpg on a combined run.

    Good evening everybody! I do hope you enjoy my POV review of the new Honda Jazz Crosstar, what do you think? I'd to hear your thoughts.

      I'm tempted to have this as my next Motability car. Unfortunately I missed out on the much lower price when it was first added to the scheme.
      The Crosstar also has an upgraded 8 speaker stereo over the EX. This really disappoints me as music is really important to me in a car and not being able to even add the upgraded stereo to the EX is an oversight.

    • @CarObsession
      @CarObsession  Před 3 lety +1

      @@sbomorse Yeah, I'm confused why the Crosstar gets the better sound system but the EX doesn't. But on the same hand, the EX gets blind spot monitoring and a heated steering wheel whereas the Crosstar doesn't 🤷‍♂️

    I really like the looks and overall design of this car inside and out. Some people think its just weird, I know from other reviews. But there is just something I really love about it. Great review, first class. Comprehensive and well balanced. I think you definitely have given this jazz a very fair hearing. Cheers for posting. Perhaps a little caustic at times but that's fair enough. CVT not meant to be floored, more leisurely progress for the particular demographic this car is bought by. Anyway, still a first class drive review!

    I enjoyed the drive with you in the Jazz. I thought you gave honest and fair comments on the car with some interesting asides on the way. Well done. Anything to develop in the POV’s? Perhaps even more experiences of the car’s features on the move - I’d have liked to see how lane keep assist worked in practice, and intelligent cruise and speed sign recognition. The brochure tells me it has these features, but I’d like to experience them on the road. Also, are the touch screen and heating controls easy to use when you’re driving? You are my way to experience a test drive from the comfort of my armchair and I’d like to try out these features. I love cars, always have, I’m an MX5 owner, but the new Jazz interests me. Loves cars yet likes the Jazz ? Um, perhaps explained when I say I’ve just turned 61!

    Never understand why reviewers cover the spec of the car when all of that is available on the manufacturers website. What we want to know is how the car feels / drives. And all the info at the beginning about hybrids? Yeah, it’s basically a Prius which Toyota has made since around 2000. And floor the throttle in any automatic car with 6+ gears the engine will rev whilst it stays in the power zone, oh just like a CVT....

    I think the ageist comments will only damage your reputation. It is people of my age who are the market for the product you are reviewing. Be careful. We are the people who will buy this car - usually not on a PCP. You need to keep your personal dislikes out if it and consider the market. Older people will pay more for a taller car because it’s easier to get out of. Be a little more objective please.

    • @CarObsession

      Hello Jonny, the comments are only light humour, they are not meant with any malice, or any certain agenda. Thank you for watching.

    • @DementedDog
      @DementedDog Před 2 lety +1

      @@CarObsession what you consider light humour can be deeply offensive to your viewers. You need to consider your audience and be more considerate of them. This car is targeted at a particular market with specific requirements. If you don’t understand that, you shouldn’t be reviewing it. And I don’t even own one! A review cannot be subjective.

    • @CarObsession
      @CarObsession  Před 2 lety

      @@DementedDog I understand where you're coming from, but sadly we live in a world where seemingly almost anything can be viewed as offensive, even when offence is not intended. I do sincerely and wholeheartedly accept the feedback, but I feel this is a topic we are going to agree on.

    • @CarObsession
      @CarObsession  Před 2 lety

      @@DementedDog I'd also say that a review can be subjective. As much as there needs to be objectivity, each reviewer may have different things to say about the car - that's subjective. For example, as part of a review, one reviewer could say a car is ugly, or a particular design feature doesn't make sense, but the next reviewer may say something else, that is subjective.

    • @DementedDog
      @DementedDog Před 2 lety

      @@CarObsession If a reviewer says a car is ugly, then they are being subjective and therefore not objective. Granted we each have our own views on such things, but glad you accept the feedback on some of the comments made.

    • @CarObsession
      @CarObsession  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Bobby thanks for getting in touch. Two things, is what HONDA's press release says about the car:
      "Rather than using a conventional transmission, a single fixed-gear ratio creates a direct connection between moving components, resulting in a smoother transfer of torque and a linear feel during acceleration. This format means Honda’s system is more compact than a planetary *eCVT* typically found in other hybrid vehicles, as well as being more refined." They even use CVT terminology in their own press release, although I fully accept it's not your usual type of CVT, which is why.... Secondly, I corrected myself around 7:25 so your comment is frankly irritating.
      Also, to say I don't have a clue about this car is farcical. I've delivered plenty of stats and driving impressions in this video. Therefore, I don't know how you can make such blasé comments.
      I appreciate you watching, and I appreciate the feedback, but maybe you should watch the whole video first before telling me to check my facts first?

Inside, show two glove boxes, drink holders on dash, no hand brake, electric brake, improved seats, great entertainment /information screen including apple car play, long list of modern safety features. Worst of all not mounting the camera on the car and having to put up with your movements for a too long drive. Fair enough, but if someone came in to your place of work and called you lousy I'm sure you'd take it personally ;). That aside, thanks for taking the time to give more feedback, it's much appreciated. This is strictly a Point Of View (POV) review, so that is why there is no outside tour of the car. I have, however, filmed a walkaround video, which can be found here: czcams.com/video/BAn39PpzxL8/video.html.
      I will also be doing a full review with the car - in fact I'm in the process of editing that as I type - and that will be more of what you're looking for. I spent fair amount of time researching the car, preparing notes and thinking about how the full review is going presented, so I would a disagree with the fact I showed little interest in the car. I think the new Jazz is a good car, but I think the Crosstar model is not the best example of the new generation.
      Last point, mounting the camera to the car would not make it a POV angle, thus defeating the whole premise of the video. Having said that, the way how this particular POV was filmed was trying new techniques and I can see that some work needs to be done to fine tune things a bit.

      @@CarObsession To be fair you have also done another review of this car on youtube covering many of the practical features as well . In my view the new Jazz is certainly far superior to the Mk3 jazz in many ways - comfort , noise suppression, smoothness of drive , visibiltity and safety features to name some. I think the styling of the Crosstar is much more interesting than the standard new Jazz and I dont think the quality of the sound system in the Crosstar should be overlooked. However, I do agree that it was strange to leave out the heated steering wheel and blind spot and cross traffic warnings. Overall two good reviews, which I'm sure took you quite a while to do, but dont over stereotype older drivers - I'm sure thats just your humour though!!
