    It’s refreshing to see a review that tells it as it is. It is not about racing into bends or seeing how fast it will go. It is the appeal to the average motorist that matters. After your Corolla review I hope you can review a CHR sometime soon. I would definitely buy one if it ticks all the boxes.

    Looking at buying a Jazz but one big bugbear I have (and this is with the care industry as a whole) is that you do not get a spare wheel, I am old school and prefer a wheel as opposed to a tyre inflator kit.
    Nice review by the way.

    The pockets at the back of the front seats is where to put the thick manual. Tip from a 2nd gen Jazz owner. Also my Jazz has paddles to manually control the CVT, this doesn't give you anything. The auto is smarter than you and the paddles. What I love about my Tardis on wheels is that it just does what you expect it to do, it's totally predictable.

  • @paulaylett8741
    @paulaylett8741 Před 3 lety +2

    Great review but you didn't mention the spare. ie that there isn't one, nor can you get one. Honda replied to my query that there was no public demand for spare wheels. Wrong. It's the one thing that prevents me buying the Crosstar which meets my needs perfectly in every other regard.

    My Mum is on her third Jazz and I was exited to see the Crosstar Hybrid. Unfortunately Honda Australia announced they will stop selling the Jazz. I was disappointed. Now that I know the new Jazz is twice the price with half the boot space, I understand the decision.

    • @AutoBears
      @AutoBears  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Kevin. The Hybrid drivetrain does add cost to the Jazz and yes has lost approx 50 litres of boot space to the MKIII. But the magic seats do help.

    Great review man really enjoyed it, you have one mistake though, the e motor is 109 hp and the petrol engine is around a 100 hp but they dont really work together. The car drives most of the time on the electric motor which battery is getting charged by the engine, and only at higher speeds the engine couples with the wheels through a clutchpack and a fixed ratio gear. Thats why you dont really get a "combined" engine output. Quite a clever design by honda here.

    I've had jazz,s for years, great little runarounds, very reliable and I've packed huge amounts in them by dropping the seats. I like the cross star and I wish they'd have designed the others with better front views. The current jazz cars have hideous and in my opinion very dangerous side widow bars. Great review, I'm booking a test drive.

    1) Not a sports car,
    2) Not a hatchback,
    3) An economy car which will be a family car with a bit of an suv air.
    Is jazz crosstar a good option for me? Or should i look for another car a bit bigger?

    No spare tyre? What happens if you get a sidewall cut in a tyre, the inflation/sealer gadget won't be much of a help then.

  • @jdmguy44
    @jdmguy44 Před 4 lety

    There's quite a lot of interesting engineering going on under the skin of the new Jazz. Atkinson cycle engine, with twin motor hybrid and 1 speed auto transmission. B- segment product with real substance. High spec variants are pricey though.

  • @1_Papa

    Sadly, we American Bears (including this one, who takes the form of a rabbit on the internet) won't get this version of the Jazz (which we called the "Fit", despite the fact that Honda already had another car with that name elsewhere). Fortunately, there's still plenty of bigger cars and even other Hondas, that we can fit into that are just as good! Nice review! 🐻!

    This is closer to my old MK1 Toyota Yaris than the new Yarises as far as practicality is concerned. It's a serious contender for me. We'll see how the Yaris Cross stacks up against it.

    • @Sunrazor
      @Sunrazor Před 2 lety

      Test drove the Yaris Cross and I find the Honda better put together. The Yaris was a bit wind sensitive, made a fairly annoying whining sound from the transmission and was more plasticky. I have no doubt it will work well (it's a Toyota), but the Honda felt better in pretty much every way.

    There's a big question mark in my head with Honda hybrids. I read there's a 30% failure rate on batteries for 10 year old civic hybrids compared to 1% on a 10 year old prius. Probably fine if you keep your cars short term, but I would not want to keep it long term until they have proven they can manage their batteries better.

    • @AutoBears
      @AutoBears  Před 4 lety

      Hi Fraser. Thank you for your comment. It’s a difficult one as Honda have been working on hybrids for 20 years+. If it’s for the short term like a 3 year lease then you will be fine.

    • @ericbana355
      @ericbana355 Před 4 lety

      Hi frazer,where did you read that,the honda hybrids have a very good 10 year record,I know a few people,and I know that only a small demographic but 3 of their cars are over 10years old and batterys still perfectly good.By all accounts the batteries are as good as the toyota ones .Go on the forums and I think you will find no problems for cars running over 150,000 miles .I have a five year old jazz hybrid,so the 10 year life thing is not really relevant yet but so far its as good as new.

      Fraser Poole. Cant say I have heard of that. My mother bought her CRZ in 2010 new. She still has it today 10 years on and all is good with the hybrid battery pack. In fact the car has been bullet proof overall which is why she is reluctant to get rid of it.

    My series 3 is EX trim so climate control on a touch panel.....looks nice but absolutely horrible to use when driving.
    I’m not so sure what the point of these pretend 4x4s is. No advantage over the standard car. Save the money and buy the standard model (these aren’t cheap cars!).
    My one being the last of the petrol only models has the 1.3 I-vetec engine with cvt auto. It’s a lot more responsive in S mode. Is this hybrid an i-vetec?
    That auto hold button works the same on the 2018 civic.
    My jazz auto has it too - but it’s fully automated....always activated, no button to press.

    Well if I want to actually get where I am going I am not buying a Ford that's for sure. The Honda might not be as much fun in the corners but when the Ford or the VW stands at the side of the road the Honda will be going on for years.
