I got this for my brother who works in film and it’s perfect. Doesn’t have to worry about winding in. He’s all over the country so keeps track of two time zones. It’s a tank and it’s awesome. And pretty. I like the blue but he preferred the green.

yeah its huge! But surprising how it wears.
agree with everything you said. i love my sumo even though i much prefer smaller 36mm to 39mm. the sumo's design just wears good on the wrist, even if you don't have the biggest out there. the other thing i wish the sumo had less of is the weight. i think seiko made a limited ed titanium and maybe they should be thinking about doing it again. i also like that it's solar. yes, we all do need a grab and go watch. thanks for this video!
Seiko tends to make more beautiful dials on quartz watches, it’s beyond crazy in my opinion

I love how the printed numbers and the Seiko logo seem as if they're floating over the dial. Also love the color scheme. I may be hating Seiko's automatic offerings as of late but maybe this quartz watch is something I may look into.

awesome color combo!! The Citizen promaster world time GMT is also a fantastic solar quartz option, for much less than this (and is a traveler gmt with a quick-set date). i have the older 39mm one (I wish they'd made an updated one in this size).
What model is that?
@farts it's the BJ7100. There are a bunch of dial and stap options for this model too. I don't recall the product # for my older model, sorry
Good news this nice watch in blue version started to appear for $500-550 😊 Very decent price. The pre-owned will be even more affordable, but later.
Great GMT idea! How is the glare on this sumo? Did they go back to a curved crystal?? That would be great. The old two-angle bezel is great...but the blunt triangle seems impractical. Thanks for mentioning that they keep making the lume pips ever smaller on sumo...why do you think they do that? (Were people complaining that the lume was too good on the 2nd gen?) And a 40...or 38 sumo would be amazing, spot on there.
With the dial being the solar cell, the floating text is pretty cool imho

Seems a bit of a departure from the regular Seiko fare. I really like it. But it's too big for me - maybe they'll come out with the 40mm as you mentioned. But an Alpinist GMT? Oooooh La La!!!!

I have the Pepsi and want to change the strap know which ones are compatible? Otherwise this is a great watch have mechanicals but glad I went with the solar for peace of mind when traveling that it won’t stop
Most-lovely new release…but I'm still passing it over for the 5 Sports GMT. This thing's *way* to large for my wrist, and I've been gravitating toward smaller case-sizes overall. A smaller Sumo? Hey, if Bulova could shrink the Lunar Pilot, anything's possible, but I'm not waiting around to find out.

Too bad they didn't put that MarineMaster clasp on it, but other than that, a good GMT diver is hard to come by....except for the Citizen ProMaster BJ7110-89E, at roughly half the price, AND it's titanium.
Citizen is awesome, but they do not bring in the views like Seiko.

Nice, but, Sumos are not really my jam. I can see Seiko putting this into a Tuna, that may be more to my liking. Maybe not in line with their 300m professional, but perhaps in a street series.

Knowing SEIKO this GMT SOLAR Movement will be proliferated in other Models in their Lineup. Personally I would like to see this GMT Mvmt on the TUNA SOLAR 200M.
I Have long advocated for SEIKO to offer an alternative QUARTZ iteration of the Automatic Sibling.
Imagine a SKX QUARTZ or a 62MAS with the 7c46 caliber for under $400 or even MARINE MASTER 200M and 300M in QUARTZ..... Selling for $500 and $1500 respectively?

I think I would get a MM300 in quartz. But lets be pragmatic; Seiko makes watches for Seiko, not for the customer. 😂
@@Tom_H327 MM300 in a 7c46 QUARTZ would be a Game Changer. Now imagine a MM300 QUARTZ in a Titanium case. SEIKO needs to give consumers the option to custom build a watch. Imagine going to the SEIKO AD And selecting design of the case with Either SS or Titanium then AUTOMATIC OR QUARTZ and lastly you pick the Dial Color and Hands and Straps or/and bracelets. Bro, that would blow every watch company away. I have seen SEIKO MODS of SKX and they am always blown away.

These have terrible QC. The chapter ring in every single review I’ve seen is misaligned…
Yes they never updated the case chapter ring with 2 teeth yet still the old sumo from 16 years ago. for example the new dresskx has 2 teeth to help improve alignment issues. But oddly enough this is the best QC quartz I filmed from Seiko. Usually they are a dusty mess. Everything was pretty great on this example. I was happily surprised.
Divers dont use watches. They have computers.
Yes they use dive computers and many also use a watch as a backup on the other wrist.
