    I'm actually here because of the resto/bodywork...and I went through something similar on my Truck...have you test fitted the doors/fenders? I did my rockers similar to how you did yours, but when I hung one of the doors, the panels weren't quite in the right spot. I know these aren't how-to videos, per se, but wondered if you did it off camera?

    • @MysteryGarage
      @MysteryGarage  Před 3 lety

      I haven't yet, and you are absolutely right. I imagine there will be some small adjustments that will need to be made no doubt, but I will leave that for the body working stage. Thank you very much for watching!! Really appreciate the comments and the follow, Thank you!!

      @@MysteryGarage I can’t wait when you start the wiring process, I plan on paying close attention to that episode. I’m in the process of pealing back wiring in my engine bay harness because I removed all of the cis fuel injection and going carburetor, so I’m removing the unnecessary wiring I don’t need anymore plus I’m doing a wire tuck to clean up the engine bay.

    What amazing work. You're a huge inspiration to us all. I have a MK3 GTi that I plan on doing a full nut and bolt resto., only I'm afraid the rust on that might be 10X worse than yours and wondering if it's too far gone. Hopefully once I get a chance to inspect it (sittiing outside at a far away outdoor storage) if it's not bad , I'm anxious to get started on it. Your video's are motivating. I thank you for that. Looking forward to follow on all your projects. Really glad you stuck the course with this MK1.

Soon as you get started, you'll find that motivation to keep going, and you'll be happy you did! I wish you the best of luck with your build for sure, definitely some awesome mk3's out there!! Thanks so much for watching and hope to catch you on the next one! Cheers!!

    It's had a new rear quarter panel the dents inside is from previous crash the rust is from joining the quarter panel

    • @MysteryGarage
      @MysteryGarage  Před 3 lety

      Rust is definitely at the weld point but it’s m not sure the rear quarter has ever been replaced. If it has it was an amazing break job because I searched too and bottom inside and out to see if it had been, didn’t see anything of the sort. Either way, all sorted now! Appreciate the watch and thanks so much for the comments! Cheers!!

    Nice work mate, cheers for the close up on the jacking beams, I thought the inner structure would be damaged its very strange as you said are you going to put the original bodyline back in the rocker for the trim to sit in cus the aftermarket ones don't have them I want to do it to mine but haven't came up with a plan let

    • @MysteryGarage
      @MysteryGarage  Před 3 lety

      Thank you. Ya I'm still on the fence about that at the moment, just because i really like the clean look of simplicity, and since the holes already don't exist and don't need to be filled, currently has me thinking i may just leave it as is... but my mind could be changed hahaha. Thanks so much for the comments and thanks for watching! Appreciate it!!

    • @MysteryGarage
      @MysteryGarage  Před 3 lety

      Absolutely right! Yes i buttwelded the rear section behind the door as well as the front section where it joined the A pillar, the rest i plug welded as discussed in the episode! Thanks for watching and thanks for the comments! Anymore questions, please don't hesitate! Cheers!!

    Great info! What is the grit count of the sander at the beginning and after your welds?

    • @MysteryGarage
      @MysteryGarage  Před 2 lety +1

      I actually just use a flappy disk, I can’t remember the grit count off hand but I feather it more by pressure than grit size. It’s all about the finesse hahaha! Thanks for watching, love the comment!! Appreciate it very much! Cheers
