- Hey everyone! Here is my non spoiler review on Robert Kirkman & Cory Walker’s Invincible!
This comic book was published by Image Comics and reprinted in these collected editions. We take a look at the 3 library editions when collected half of the story. Then the remaining 6 over sized hardcovers to complete the run. I can’t wait the watch the animated series on Amazon Prime when it releases.

They kept the facade of being a kid-friendly comic for so long that once you turn and see blood and splattered across the entire pages, you get stumped.

The epic battle between Invincible and Conquest was one of the best fights in comics

Fight between Thragg and Battle Beast was also pretty epic.
Ryan Ottley draws the majority of it, should have him in the title. Cory Walker and Kirkman came up with the idea and made the first 8 issues together, than Ryan Ottley took over as artist on the book. Cory Walker did some additional design work on some characters and drew another story arc to give Ryan some vacations, but Ryan drew over 100 issues.
Invincible is my Favorite comic and I think the first 12 issues would make an amazing movie.

Damn. Invincible is awesome. Towards the end it didnt get much notoriety but it did in the beginning. Glad it ended when it did. Glad invincible is respected in the gem mint empire.
Yeah Invincible was definitely something special while reading the series from start to finish it was really a great series.
It was extraordinary it did go full-blown Dragon Ball Z at times and it was epic as hell.
It was just crazy like volume one was really good then all of a sudden it just goes from 10 to 60 within the first several issues man it's nuts.

Definitely my favourite comic series I’ve read so far. Robot was my favourite character and I love the direction they took him through the story
“Peter Parker with Superman powers at a Dragon Ball Z scale”. That’s probably the best description I’ve heard for this comic.

About dam time you read this. One of the best runs ever. Corey walker only drew a handful of books in the beginning and at the end.
I like Invincible because it allows the characters to grow and have the story progress and evolve unlike more popular comics that no matter how much they change, it reverts back to the status quo.
Invincible is up there on my favorite comic runs. The story never becomes borring and the characters all do great stuff. Trully a page turner.

"Like Peter Parker with Superman powers" THATS WHAT I THOUGHT TOO!! Which is why I love Invincible, it has some similar values as what made Spiderman so great, like Peter Mark also struggles to balance his human life and his superhero life which makes Amber similar to Mary Jane.

Ryan Ottley and Cory Walker, with what he's done in that book (especially the last issue), has bolstered them to the top of my artist list.
Gotta wait till July to get my comics. Ugh that waitin list is no joke.
This series always gave me a strong 90s vibe. It felt to me at times like it had a mix of something like the original Gen 13 meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
This is my favorite comic book ever created. Not even DC or Marvel can make a book this good

I finished reading this today after your suggestion and man it's so good. The way it ends with Thragg and Rex just wow.

Library editions only have upto issue 74. There are totally 144 issues
How does it feel to be on to something ahead of the time? I have one question: When can we expect the 2nd season on Amazon Prime?
I wish Marvel and DC pulled off some of the storytelling we see in Invincible, the no holds barred way Kirkman tells stories without pulling his punches is great.
I mean he did took some few ideas and inspirations from both MCU and DC without the existing superheros before Invincible, Invincible wouldn't be that great but I'm glad the comics took some inspiration that is easy to follow and mash it together to build something new and original.
I had a similar experience. I bought the first compendium on a whim. I think I had seen someone suggest it on CZcams. Anyhow I was like well I'll read the first couple issues and check it out. I read the whole thing In two sittings. Then I bought the second compendium and did the same thing. I loved this series so much I went ahead and bought the hardcovers. And ryan Otley is criminally underrated.
Damn, Gem! With a review like that I’ve got to read it! I had all 12 hardcovers but traded them for something else. Read the first two volumes while I had them and thought it was good ...I guess I should have stuck with it. Just bought all 3 compendiums in hardcover from Kirkman’s store, Skybound. I’d much rather have the story across three omnibus size books. Love your reviews for their honesty and details. Thanks, brother!

12:39 … BROOO, i finished this invincible run last night and before going to bed i randomly, RANDOMLY, started watching Dragon Ball Kai, when Raditz is introduced and gives the whole background on Saiyans and i was like “this sounds a little like Viltrumites” lol… overall, amazing run, i LOVED invincible 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Glad u ur giving this some shine. So underrated. I'm only up thru like issue 100 or something but I read it on a recommendation from a friend who hyped it hard. Does not disappoint. Anyone who is looking for something non dc or marvel should really check this out. It gets u hooked and picks up quick.
Now to assuage my OCD and provide relief for the twitch I got from watching this, you need to buy the other OHCs so everything matches. Great video man! Glad you read this. I got rid of mine a few years ago but recently re-purchased them. Great character depth; I fell into this story and would get lost reading it. I would burn through a OHC before I realized it. Great f'in run.
Art is fantastic (Ottley is on Spider-Man now). You can see Ottley's art improve as the story goes on.
I also like the fact that it ends. One complete closed loop story. Great book and my favorite series.

I think what happen is during this run Robert kirkman took HUUUUGE breaks....im talking a year almost at once. Also it took some flack back in the day for being able to knock out an issue in a min....bc some issues were really wordy and others have tons of action and no words at all.
The Bowser one I never got the criticism of the fight scenes being too long or their not being enough words. Fight scenes can be incredibly compelling. There was a huge action scene in One Piece that was over 100 pages and reading it was just supernatural.

Def one of the best of all time. The only thing is that it builds equally. Which means its hard to grab one volume or even one arc and say you got the best of it. You really gotta go start to finish.

I finish the first compendium and I loved it, but never got to finish buying the rest of the compendiums. After watching your video I’m go back to get the rest of the compendiums.
I might not only end up rewatching the first animated season but also grab the 3 big C editions which collects the entire run.

I enjoyed the review but just to explain, you only need the 3 compendiums on the left for the whole story. The "Invincible universe" had some spin off stuff but nothing too crucial to the over all story.
The compendiums are roughly $50 dollars a piece, having read this series, it's absolutely worth it. You'll try to make other people read it it's that good.
I love invincible it's what got me back into comics by far my favorite book run of all time

X-Men is my favorite comic “universe,” but INVINCIBLE is easily my favorite single comic series of all time. Excellent storytelling & world building, and best of all, its DYNAMIC. The story progresses with no resets or reboots, and every event sticks & has permanent consequences.

Just a quick recommendation, you should read/review Hitman by Garth Ennis. It's set in the DC universe so you have this guy interacting with all the big DC characters like Batman, Superman, and more. I think you'd like it if you haven't already read it. Anyways keep up the fantastic videos

Invincible is what happens if Spider-Man books were good. Unfortunately the years and constant reboots/crossovers have been unkind to Spider-Man.

Spider-Man meets DBZ is absolutely the best comparison. A few months ago it hit me, Invincible really does fit in with those long running manga/anime, but it’s American-made.

It's funny you mention Dragon ball z. I think you can see the heavy influence of dragon ball on it . Kirkman must of liked the manga and/or show.
