When I was about 9 years old I was given a silver shield shaped medallion with ''FA cup final 1904 runners up'' written on the back and engraved with a little footballer kicking a ball there too, by an old man who lived on our street. My mum used to make dinners for him & he had no living relatives left. That was in the early '70s. I kept it special all my life until ... I felt sorry for some homeless guy & let him stay overnight during bad weather (yes I know, I'm an idiot). About 2 weeks later I found that my birth certificate, gold first holy communion cross & the medal were missing. Never to be seen again.
    - Careful with your charity folks.

I can't watch anything from this era without wondering how many of the men and boys we see made it to 1919.

    F'in cool!!
McBride was a legend, 6 Scottish caps back then was worth about 60 nowadays, and probably more when goalkeeping was seriously hazardous for your health!!

Interestingly the West Stand now gone looks unchanged. Sat in it many times. Warm and cosy each spectator had their own pillar.
