I clicked on the thumbnail expecting a pornographic video of the character Tifa Lockhart from the video game Final Fantasy VII made by the video game company Square, of Square Enix fame after the corporate merger of 2003.
But, unbeknowst to me, this video was actually a monologue of the character Horus Lupercal from the miniatures wargame Warhammer 40k, from the miniature wargame company Games Workshop, located in Nottingham, the city of Nottingham being, of course, located in the United Kingdom, also widely known as the Perfidious Albion for their historical and on-going perfidy.
And that is truly something.

Every time I see a 40k clip I can't help but notice how the Astartes (supposedly tactical genius level warriors) just charge, charge, charge. I submit that Astartes are actually the most tactically inept buffoons in the Imperium.
I submit that if you try to argue that they will kill you and so no one calls them on it.
When you can tank most shots, move unreasonably fast and crush anything in your way, tactics really don’t matter

I mean, obviously they only show the highlights of any given engagement. Unfortunately what qualifies as a highlight is determined by non-military fools.
Seriously, who here would not get hyped seeing a squad of Heretics moving through cover, only to get ambushed by some Raven Guard?
My main point isn't 'in universe,' but that the directors don't bother with a bit of research into tactics. It's so frequent that the people who make admittedly beautiful product seem to think that war tactics peaked around 1650 CE.
But now imagine how effective Astartes would be using Fire & Maneuver.

I think the thing is that it went BACK to 1635 AD, not that it never left.
Remember, late medieval, heavy plate armor was so good that GUNS were invented ENTIRELY to crack it. It came to the point that almost every arrow was useless against it.
In the WH40K universe, power armor is so great that kinetic weapons like what we have in RL can't touch it.
That eliminates the biggest benefit that guns have. They can penetrate the personally worn armor of one soldier. What happens if they no longer can? You have to go back to what people did when guns didn't work.
Therefore, the only way to kill an opposing force with bulletproof armor is to put bulletproof armor on and outdo the enemy in direct close-quarters combat.
