I loved seeing these photos. The people looked so happy.
In the present, we have so much more, but we don’t have the same wonderful gatherings, nor do we seem as happy. What an interesting observation is this.
Born in 1955. I grew up in kitchens like this. Still have one like it

ive got the jigsaw'ed wooden scroll over the kitchen window, the two little rounded corner shelves where the kitchen cabinets stop, and the original two-shelf "bar" that extends the counter top space! painted yellow. aqua accents. need to replace the original flooring and countertop that have worn like iron and are just now in need of replacement. the countertop laminate has gold glitter in it!

Small, happy homes. Lots of cocktails around that tiny kitchen table packed with friends after WW2. It was fun to watch them as a kid. Happy times. Simple times.

Oh, the wallpaper and patterned curtains and house dresses!
Makes you realize our time in 2021 will pass too. All these people had lives and most likely very happy ones. A few of the young adults and many of the children are still with us.
This is something I can identify with. We moved house something like 7 times during that decade, but I can still remember something about the kitchen in each place. It truly was the heart of the house in those days.

What’s funny is, these photos may be from the 1950s, but people seem to have retained furniture and other odd items but from an earlier Age. When I grew up in the 1940s we still had horse-drawn wooden wagons delivering ice to “ice-boxes” in South Philadelphia.
50's kitchen designs are my fave.
Interesting in the size difference of the rooms of the 50's and todays houses.

This is so nice and I wonder how many folks remember their childhood being in black and white because they couldn't afford colour film!

No McMansion kitchens here, but they look cozy. I recognize many of those old appliances and want some of them back since I can't even reach the back of the top shelf of my 26 cubic foot fridge (which now looks the same as every other brand). Perked coffee instead of Keurig (oh the smell) and I think we all had the clock over the fridge (must've been a rule). Loved this. I'd go back and look at my photos, but they're all on slides and I don't have a projector anymore....bummer.
You can have slides converted over to DVD. They added music and it is so nice! We just had this done with our family slides. Costco has this service.

Only a few mildly overweight and absolutely nobody obese. I can attest to that in real life too because I was there. Somebody made a comment below about bad hair. Well I don’t remember hairspray until the 60s. I graduated from high school in 1958 and our school had very beautiful girls with very beautiful hair.
Amazing how photography has changed from something special and interesting to what it is today ........

The kitchens were quite small, even for the "middle class" as it was then defined.
I wonder why the channel creator no longer puts out new videos. I really love just sitting down, relaxing, and watching them. The music he uses somehow goes so well with the pictures, and just sets a mood of nostalgia. Does anyone know why no new videos have been released in a while?

When I look at Space X videos I sometimes think I was born too late. But then I look at the images of life in the 1950's and think that I was born too late. So I guess I was born at the exact correct time...

The bathroom was always next to the kitchen. No jogging to a bedroom there!
Efficient! That's where the plumbing was... My first house was built in 1947 (I bought it in 2001 when I was 23), it's still my favourite house that I lived and I wish I could have taken it with me when I moved. My kitchen looked a lot like these.

It’s because their food is so good, showing pictures of it and where it was made would make everybody else jealous.
