15 Euphoria Scenes That Were Originally Much Darker

- Is there ever an episode that doesn’t have us in tears or terrified for a character at some point? What’s really wild is the fact that some of what we do see on screen in Euphoria is actually the toned-down version! With the cast and crew being so flexible and changing directions whenever it feels right, a lot of scenes or even plotlines were changed to be a bit less dark - but that doesn’t mean the show lost any intensity whatsoever - that’s for sure.
Rue goes downhill fast in the second season and it’s a tough watch - but fortunately, all hope isn’t lost. While the plan was to watch Rue continue to spiral, Sam Levinson and Zendaya made it otherwise. One actor read the original script and found themselves in tears, really upset by the content and feeling nervous about filming the sequence. They didn’t complain about it with Levinson but they did discuss it - how did he deal with the situation?
Sydney Sweeney, Minka Kelly, and Chloe Cherry have all been initially asked to show some more skin, but for one reason or another, the filming happened with clothing on - not all the time of course though.
Some characters weren’t even supposed to have much of a journey, with a terrible fate awaiting them far too early in their stories - we’re talking about some major players in the show. How did they wind up staying alive on the show??
Oh and remember that locker scene with a whole lot of explicit visuals? There were way more than we can even imagine in the first place - but HBO spoke up and cut the footage - a couple of times in fact. The show is intense as is, but knowing what we see is actually a bit toned down makes us see it in a different light!

Who wanted Nate dead in the pilot?!
Sam Levinson, the sole writer.
I did lol but obviously, so did sam Levinson. I wouldn't mind him dead though
I think it's really interesting and amazing that the actors have that much power controlling the way the show goes script and plot wise. Even with makeup and costumes some cast members have had a say. The industry has changed, and that's a good thing. Actors aren't just puppets anymore.
That morphine scene was the darkest I think I've ever seen on the show. Episode 5 was so dark
The fact so many actresses are speaking up about these scenes gives me creep vibes from Levinson. Not surprised Maude is given a cutesy relationship despite it being with a drug dealer since her dad is a big shot. Sam knew better.
no literally i almost threw up i can’t with needles and veins and it was so unnecessarily graphic and unsettling
@@sophiewthomas but I think it just shows how raw things are in the world. Real life doesn’t soften anything so I kind of appreciate it
Episode 5 is the best of the season, is the Emmy-worth one. Spectacular in many aspects.
@@filmstaratease I agree the filmography was amazing, music was good, acting was top tier, writing was the best it was throughout an episode in the entire season although I love the scene with Rue and Lexi in lexis’s bedroom because they both was holding in every for so long.
The director seems like a good dude, every time someone didn’t feel comfortable doing a certain scene he never pressured them to do it
Zendaya and others given their best efforts to make their characters feel like real.
Honestly I'm sad about what happened to Fez. I would've loved to see where his relationship with Lexi would've taken him . He was a good guy kinda put in a messed up situation at a young age but maybe Lexi could've inspired him to try something different, or at least challenge him in a different way.
I don't believe he's dead, just shot. Ashtray is dead. Fez has some questions to answer about having all those guns in the house with a minor. I think he will be back.
That scene with Nate and Maddy, Russian roulette, was super intense! I do wish she had given the disc to Jules though. But it does set up more drama so 🤷🏻♀️
I am haply he gave jules the disc, there is a story beetween them, it's interesting, i hate what he did to maddy but let's be real, both maddy and nate are 💩, the fact that it was originally written that is boring, glad they changed it, with the script they used god knows what maddy was gonna do with that tape
The most frustrating plot hole that wasn't further explored in the second season was how Laurie was really planning to address the fact that Rue had either snorted or lost that entire suitcase she was fronted. Watching her get Rue into the bath with the syringe and the bottle in the foreground made us feel she was planning to keep her promise of "getting her money back any way she could." There were real Gus-Fring-From-Breaking-Bad vibes with how calm she always remained even though we'd been told she was ruthless. It was a real letdown to not have anymore said on that plotline by the end of the season after Rue simply escaped the complex. Surely Season 3 will address this?
Exactly , i hope they adress this. The fact that they had locks inside their house made it seem like they wanted to keep Rue captive.
I think season 3 whole plot line is gunna center around lorie and that front she did for rue she has plans for rue that's really what it's about
Lorie is calm and calculated. She's definitely brewing up something to get her money back
i wouldnt call it a plot hole. It was a setup, and that whole sequence implied a lot. It was obvious what she was planning for Rue, and the lock on the door implied she may not be the first victim. I'm sure it'll come back next season, Laurie isn't just gonna let Rue off the hook.
Maybe its a set up for the 3rd
i really like that sam levinson lets the actors do improv and listens to their opinion when directing and writing the script
I rather not have Nate die till euphoria is over. Or at least see him change. Nate keep this show interesting y’all can’t lie no matter how much y’all hate him😭💯
Finally someone said it. I wanna see him either exposed or change or come out fully. Not die , that’s lame lol
I can't believe I liked your comment.
@@autisticangell believe it 😄
IMHO the show wouldn't be what it is without him.
this show is honestly the best.
I feel like a lot of people would've been a lot happier if Nate's storyline ended in the first episode.😒
That would’ve been fine for me.But I understand a good show
This show is so geniu (shockingly it’s an Israeli adaptation). I must say the aesthetics and the filmography is remarkable!!! I’m glad they didn’t gave out about Nate character. He’s contributing so much to the plot..
Pfft.. me too! I cannot imagine the show without him! I think once Sam and Jacob started working together that changed. Same with Angus I imagine.
I’m glad to see these gorgeous, talented Woman standing her ground! That would take real balls seriously especially if the show propelled you to fame and a pay check
Not gonna lie this Sam dude has some interesting shit in his mind with all this nudity these are real people not everyone is comfortable with that it seems like too much in general also I wonder what would’ve happened if Nate died and fez dies in the beginning I wanna know the original plot cause that changes the whole show
Did you miss the part where they said if the actors aren't comfortable he doesn't make them? or.. did you just ignore it lmfao
@@TheRealAshtray I think the person was trying to say it’s weird how sam’s original plans involve nudity 80% of the time & when actors mention they feel uncomfortable, he readjusts the scene
@@Lilly768kewl Exactly my thoughts
Because its HBO, we watch hbo to get the raw exposed stuff. It is alluring and makes the show feel more intense and real/serious, and like its not some kids show
HBO requires nudity or at least it feels like it. It’s something weird because these characters are teens
Thanks so much for this
Best channel ever
i really do love this show
i love u guysssss💋
i want to keep euphoria that way, but honestly, in an alternate universe i would love to see euphoria the way it was described in the video
I love zendaya shes amazing
I really wish ash didn’t die😭
I love this show♥️💖💥n zendaya
Best wishes 👍👌😍🤩
Listen that fight at the end of episode 1 had me shook 😳
Shook ones
tbh i feel like this years the show lacked exactly what they removed from season 2, im not that disappointed just bc they gave us a season even through a pandemic but really season 2 is wack compared to the first, it just has a lot of drama and no plot... i KNEW kat's plot and the disc story were originally gonna be developed better, such a shame... you can tell even with filming, this year they couldn't even do very cinematic scenes, sam levinson is a genius but i feel like he got overwhelmed by how big the show is nowadays...
He needs a writing team.
@@AlwaysAnonymously I super agree with you
Wait, Rue was supposed to have killed Nate in the pilot??
Did you want that? 🤔
@TheThings
What???
Why would you ask that??
How did you get that from my comment/question???
Jeez, NO!!!
It shocked me that that's how it was supposed to start!!!!
I'm glad that Rue hasn't done anything like that.
What we know of her, even if it were in self-defense, she'd have a hard time living with killing anyone.
Leslie is correct about Rue, she's delicate.
Imagine watching Rue take Nate out 😍😍😍 hopefully sam still has the tucked away for the show finale 😳
I actually don't like the idea of Rue killing anyone at all... The girl has enough "bad" on her already, that'd be too much
HI!
Euphoria is like degrassi but every season finale just lots of drama from episode 1
Just with a lot cussing and ass and titties.I was a whore for degrassi as well lol
There’s something I don’t quite understand & I may have this entirely wrong. Rue. In S1 E1 Rue is telling about when she was born & she says her parents were watching the attacks on 9/11 on TV in the hospital suggesting she was born on or right after 9/11. If so then her age is completely off.
I just don't like how sam accommodated everyone's needs except Barbie
Kay eating issues is her backstory it’d be duly at best to be mad about that on the second season
First one is gone :(
The director tried to get Sydney to take off her top as many times as he could I heard.
Darker the better
some corrections: the argument between nate & cassie was scripted but they improvised what was said. the disagreement between barbie and sam happened at the very beginning of season one and has nothing to do with kat’s screen time. fez was supposed to die instead of ash.
Hello
Hiiiiiiiiii!😍😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰🥰
Sussy
Season one was way better, I was very disappointed with the second season. Lots of things are embellished and don’t make sense, or they play it safe. The depth of the show wasn’t the same.
Actors are controlling the writing? Um...😳
I don't like Kat at all. One of her first scenes with the school 🔫 line made a bad impression (if Ethan was more of a dbag id understand) and she just became increasingly annoying after that. Also Maddy is unbelievably ridiculous even though I kinda-sorta felt for her towards the end of s2.
I understand characters gotta have their own personality and they can't all be nice people but they just wholly suck as people despite their young age. I can't really empathize with them, except maybe a tiny bit (like with Maddy.)
Fence, Rue, and Jules rock 🪨 🎸 though imho. 👍👍
Remember God loves you!!!♥️
John 3:16
