    Painting a hooded Aragorn model with your own hood up was a great touch ;)
    I find hobbying to be a great refuge from everyday problems, focusing on painting keeps stupid thoughts out of my head. I'm really happy that there's a model range that covers one of my favourite universa as this adds even more flavour! It's quite funny but I think all the Middle-earth miniatures are my one, huge passion project that I'm very thankful to have :D
    Oh, and an edit further down the episode - I really enjoy how you explained the feelings and reasoning behind every single one of these picked Fellowship models!

    • @BenjisHobbies
      @BenjisHobbies  Před 3 lety +1

      Haha! The hood up was completely coincidental!
      I completely agree with you - I personally just really dislike batch painting and often ‘forget’ to reward myself with something nice to paint at the end. I love painting the characters, but some of these ones in particular really mean a lot to me, so they were a real joy to paint 🥰

    This is absolutely fantastic Ben. I love the points you make about being in a slump or mental block with painting, that's exactly how I felt coming into the year and that's why I started my lucky dip painting challenge; to really try adding some variety and focus back into my painting.

    • @BenjisHobbies
      @BenjisHobbies  Před 3 lety +2

      Exactly that! I’ve found that I’d got in to a bit of a negative slump after doing a lot of batch painting but I never ended up ‘rewarding’ myself with a nice mini to paint after the batch. This was a lovely mix of miniatures that I love and it just felt like the right time to get some paint on them 😊

    My dad back in 2003 when the films came out collected 2 of every magazine that was released for the LoTR films. They were your classic £2-3.99 per month for each issue with some paints and some miniatures. This was before gamesworkshop had the LoTR battle strategy and it was wizards of the coast doing them. I still have everything he collected and plan on painting them up in the future

  • @Ghost3210
    @Ghost3210 Před rokem

    I really like the freedom from AoS and Warhammer 40k that push the "build your own team/warband/army" narratives and designs.
    I try that for Middle Earth too, but it always seems so final, that it kind of feels wrong not to go with official color schemes and named characters.
    But that won't keep me from trying. I'm building a "Dark Dwarves" army right now, lead by a Champion of the (Dark) King.
    And I think Easterlings have some good potential for creative background writing and design updates as well. Really want to try them with Obsidian Armor instead of the classic gold and red.

    it is games workshops best game because its lacking the constant powercreep and rules bloat due to the missing release avalanche Age of Sigmar and 40k are suffering from. The balance was able to stabilize on a decent level without the constant need to sell miniatures destroying it over and over and over again.
