This is one of the 3-4 most famous and influential comedy groups in Swedish history. Galenskaparna was the original group (1978) with three members and four years later they started collaborating with a barbershop/comedy group called aftershave with four members. The two groups has sort of merged into one and done a whole lot of tv-series (including Macken) and especially variety shows from the early 80’s till now.
Galenskaparna did radio shows already in 1972 I think, but at that point they called themselves ”Utan lots”. I remember them doing ”filialradion” in the 1970's.

It's actually an anti-song for caravan holidays, the wife and kids hate it. Dad is a caricature of the very nice but dorky family man who is 110% into the whole culture around campers. The fact that the whole family had the same uniform Adidas outfits was considered extremely dorky , something that makes the wife not even want to look up. Some Swedes adopted this behavior from Germany where this was even more common, probably why they chose the Adidas brand to amplify it even more.
The funny thing about this is that even if it is a joke song ABOUT the caravan people, caravan people still love it and use it as their own national anthem. That's when you have totally succeeded making a joke!

Galenskaparna consists of Anders Eriksson (who plays the gas station attendant in this clip), Kerstin Granlund (who plays the mother) and Claes Eriksson (who writes 90% of their material, including this song). After Shave consists of Per Fritzell (who plays the dad in this clip), Knut Agnred, Jan Rippe and Peter Rangmar (who sadly passed away in the late nineties) Fun fact: Peter and Jan were the Swedish voices of Timon and Pumbaa in the Lion King. Jan reprised the role in Lion King 3, with Per taking over as Timon. Curiously, none of them were in Lion King 2...
Macken is short for Bensinmacken. This group is soooo funny! Only the songs miss some context of the humor but they did a lot of fun characters and scetches that we still bring up at family gatherings 35 years later… ”Han har fastnat i vinkelvolten!!!!!” 😂 Never forget. 😁
I loooove Galenskaparna aftershave so much. Every single song in their movie "Hajen som visste för mycket" shaped me as a human! Favorites include "haj haj haj", "om man vill bli rik" and "alibi". I think this song and "Gött å leva" are their most famous songs? Either way incredible group with the BEST sense of humor!
I think that Macken refers to the mechanic at the gasstation. It was often used for, not only filling gas, also to fix your car. Nowadays more for buying bananas. But the word is still in use. Jumpsuit was the uniform for swedish campers, often in blue for men and Pink for the ladies. The concept was, to make fun of "the Smiths" in sweden family Svensson. That is what made them so extra ironic and funny. Like musical light.

They didn't care to have a new name, so they just called them selves 'Galenskaparna & After shave'. I would recommend you to check out the live performances 'Bara sport' or 'Sova säng', singing performances with a lot of humour.
Galenskaparna was 3 people who did skits and general humor. After shave was a barbershop quartet. They were two different groups of people in the same circles at Chalmers (a school) who just united and didn't bother coming up with one name for both groups, since they already had moderate, local success, so I guess neither was willing to part with the names completely. The barbershop roots of course is the reason why they did so much music, since they have some genuinely good singers.

GAS is a primarily a central west coast comedy troop from the upper Göta Älv that met at Chalmers School of Technology and decided to make comedy out of the professions that the school taught you into, hence the gas station comedy series this song is featured in. It’s a very left-leaning kitchen sink realism kinda comedy. You should check out the skits they made, like “Trögfattarföreningen” and such. Other songs they made are the early Prince-influenced song “Kung över sobert kaos”, the gospel travesty “Alibi”, the synthpop/doo wop song “Du E Ok” and many other.

the first gas pumps in Sweden was called MACK, so thats why we sometimes call gas stations Mack.

Galenskaparna var från Trollhättan och aftershave från Göteborg. Galenskaparna även namnet talar om vad dessa 3 personerna was all about, galen skaparna creators of madness haha a comedy group with two brothers and 1 woman friend. Aftershave was a a capella group from Göteborg and friends from Chalmers tekniska högskola that also made comedy. They met and comedy romance happened haha. A match made in heaven you can say. The rest is hilarious history 🤣
I grew up with Macken and Galenskaprna och aftershave. Even though I was born in 2001, we had the entire series on DVD and many others of the groups shows. I still love them and everything they've done
Macken was a tv show about two brothers who had a gas station with a auto repair shop.
Bensinmack = gas station and macken is a Swedish slang for the gas station. It even says bilverkstad = auto repair shop on the picture behind you.
Galenskaparna consists of Anders Eriksson (who plays the gas station attendant in this clip), Kerstin Granlund (who plays the mother) and Claes Eriksson (who writes 90% of their material, including this song).
After Shave consists of Per Fritzell (who plays the dad in this clip), Knut Agnred, Jan Rippe and Peter Rangmar (who sadly passed away in the late nineties)
Fun fact: Peter and Jan were the Swedish voices of Timon and Pumbaa in the Lion King. Jan reprised the role in Lion King 3, with Per taking over as Timon. Curiously, none of them were in Lion King 2...
Macken is short for Bensinmacken. This group is soooo funny! Only the songs miss some context of the humor but they did a lot of fun characters and scetches that we still bring up at family gatherings 35 years later… ”Han har fastnat i vinkelvolten!!!!!” 😂 Never forget. 😁
Well.. the word "mack" originated in MACK a Swedish chains of petrol stations now long gone.
I loooove Galenskaparna aftershave so much. Every single song in their movie "Hajen som visste för mycket" shaped me as a human! Favorites include "haj haj haj", "om man vill bli rik" and "alibi". I think this song and "Gött å leva" are their most famous songs? Either way incredible group with the BEST sense of humor!

1:34 Macken is a slang for Gas/Service Stations in big parts of Sweden.
It actually comes from the founders of the first gas pump "Mathiasson, Andersson, Collin, Key" and is Swedish (even if it sounds English🙂
I think that Macken refers to the mechanic at the gasstation. It was often used for, not only filling gas, also to fix your car. Nowadays more for buying bananas. But the word is still in use.
Jumpsuit was the uniform for swedish campers, often in blue for men and Pink for the ladies.
The concept was, to make fun of "the Smiths" in sweden family Svensson. That is what made them so extra ironic and funny. Like musical light.

Galenskaparna och aftershave is the team that made this show(the actors), its a group of comedians(galenskaparna) and a group of musicians(aftershave) that joined forces and created one of the biggest "show groups" sweden ever seen
One may think Galenskaparna was simple slapstick humor, but they are not. They where very talanted imo
Galenskaparna was a comedian group formed in 1978, featuring Kerstin Granlund and the two brothers Claes and Anders Eriksson.
After shave was a "barbershop" group (singing), formed 1979 and featuring Knut Agnred, Jan Rippe, Per Fritzell and Peter Ragnmar.
At 1982 the two groups started colaberation in making shows for tv and theater (and even movies), combining comedy and music, all created by the group. They didn't care to have a new name, so they just called them selves 'Galenskaparna & After shave'.
I would recommend you to check out the live performances 'Bara sport' or 'Sova säng', singing performances with a lot of humour.
Galenskaparna was 3 people who did skits and general humor. After shave was a barbershop quartet. They were two different groups of people in the same circles at Chalmers (a school) who just united and didn't bother coming up with one name for both groups, since they already had moderate, local success, so I guess neither was willing to part with the names completely.
The barbershop roots of course is the reason why they did so much music, since they have some genuinely good singers.

It's not slang but an acronym of the surnames of the owners of a company founded in 1916 which made pumps for gas station. Their names were Mathiasson, Andersson, Collin and Key, so each pump was marked with the acronym MACK.

You know you have succeeded as a comedian in Sweden if you are mentioned in the same context as these. They had their heyday in the 80s and early 90s. Everyone who lived then remembers them, Today most of all their stuff they made feels outdated. But some things are still fun to watch.
"It is funny because it is true", or at least it points to very real part of Swedish culture at the time.

Galenskaparna och After Shave celebrate their 40th anniversary this weekend.
So you have just opened the never ending pandoras box that is Galenskaparna and Aftershave. They have made movies, stage shows, musicals, TV-shows, theatre plays and a ton of music. Galenskaparna were originaly two brothers and the woman in this video making student schetch comedy and they merged with Aftershave which was an Accapela Barbershop quartet. They are the Swedish equivalent of Monty Python but more prolific. They are national treasures.

GAS is a primarily a central west coast comedy troop from the upper Göta Älv that met at Chalmers School of Technology and decided to make comedy out of the professions that the school taught you into, hence the gas station comedy series this song is featured in. It’s a very left-leaning kitchen sink realism kinda comedy.
You should check out the skits they made, like “Trögfattarföreningen” and such.
Other songs they made are the early Prince-influenced song “Kung över sobert kaos”, the gospel travesty “Alibi”, the synthpop/doo wop song “Du E Ok” and many other.

Galenskap is Craziness or insanity. But skapa is to create. So it´s a play on words. Kind of "the slightly crazy creators." Aftershave I guess comes from that they were a barbershop-group. Oh and sandwich has absolutely nothing to do with the name of the show. It´s "Macken" The gas station nothing else.
This song makes mock "husvagnskulturen" that exists in sweden, the guys family looks miserable and he drags them all over the country with a trailer home to spend 5 minutes doing one thing then 5 minutes doing another just to see it all speaking about how free it makes them when it's clear his family just wants to stay at home and relax or do something else for the vacation. As expected the people being mocked treat it as their theme song not getting it.
