I'm from Germany - came to Sweden 2004 - had a free concert wiith Bo Kaspers in Borås- I will never forget 2 "things" - 1 the wonderful music and 2 TheAudience - it was totally overcrowded but U were in crowd of happy people - no aggressions only love - I will never forget this concert and maybe it is one of the 1mil resons I love SVERIGE

Hi, it's been awhile, but anyway... It's not so much this song reminding of Stad I Ljus as the other way around. This was written first for Chess the Musical, then it came time for the European Music Contest and one of the rules are that the music has to be new, and not previously presented. The Anthem was clearly out, so somebody wrote up that other son and he got to compete with that. Swept the floor in Sweden, but I don't think we've ever had a worse result in the competition than that year. I believe that even Norway beat us, which can be a sore spot when it happens. The Anthem has nothing to do with Swedish history or self confidence, I'm afraid. In the story (premiered by Tommy Körberg) this Russian (Soviet-ish really but who remember Soviet these days) chess master is choosing between go on with i´his life as defected Russian in the US presumably and with the love of is life, or go back to Soviet and his wife because politics. There are two different endings funnily enough depending of the country where the musical is presented. This song comes as he is struggling with his decision and he is telling whomever that he will never lose his country as he carries it with him. Tommy Körberg is renowned or resented depending on who you ask, for his natural vocal prowess. If he's ever had voice lessons he's either kept it very well hidden, or it happened when his voice started to age, which it's barely started anyway. He is just turned 76 and is still gigging. Very annoying of course. I wish I could. I'm both much younger and have had lessons. When both of us were much younger than we are now, he was rumored to have vocal cords like piano wire, because he hardly have to warm up before a 3 hour gig, could party hard after, and do the same the next night. And so on, and on, and so on... You can find Chess from 1984 (I think) when it premiered on Swedish TV, in Swedish, or under the name Checkers with a young Josh Groban in this role form early 2000's (I think) in English, only one or two CZcams searches away.Yours, Ann

I've always loved this song! And if you want to experience an audio whiplash I really suggest checking out "Lost Patrol & Lisa Miskovsky - Alright", Lost Patrol being a solo project from Refused's vocalist. It's also a great tune in my humble opinion, but just remembering Dennis screaming his heart out in Refused and then listening to Alright... it's quite something :)

Jag gissar att all ny musik från sverige kommer vara mer eller mindre ganster relaterad till vår nya befolkning. Vi som bodde här är passse och kommer kulturellt bli totalt överkörda, men kul att se hur det såg ut för några årtioenden sen!

Palace Station var deras första hit och mycket större än Electric på den tiden, men Electric växte mer med tiden. Du kommer bli besviken på texten som upprepar sig, men det är absolut en låt värd att ha med i kanalen. Is it a banger? 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️
