Never new there was so much flat land up that way. Had no idea you had canals there. Reminds me of Norfolk and the Somerset plains. I got my electric bike working in the end. It was the motor was in reverse and i tried diffrent wire combos with the red green and yellow wires untill it went foward. Also manged to remove the speed restriction by joing the two white wires :)

Proper old-fashioned lads adventure that Dave👌. I quite like those weird flat backwaters of Yorkshire for a walk or run out in the car. If I fancy a change from dreary moors and the weather is better in the east, I sometimes head over that way. I also recognised a few locations round the Humber from many birding trips down the years. Great that. 😎

Nice route around my local patch. BTW the Humber Bridge is still the longest bridge in the world that you can cycle over. Worth a visit for anyone new to the area and best approached along the riverside path from North Ferriby. I did not realise that you had a cycling channel Dave, so have just subscribed and have a lot of catching up. Thanks for posting.

    Hi Dave….crackin post lovely tour.
I’ve just recently subscribed to your channel and I’m really enjoying your tours wi ya marra.
Good little route this and is was nice to see you venturing south for a change but I must say I was inspired with your Lancaster Canal and Morecambe touring visits so that’s on MY list for this year.
So you travelled south to my neck of the woods. I’m in Thorne which you passed thru on D1 and recovered your phone from. Yes we’re very honest and trustworthy round here…well the vast majority.
So this route on this vid I would either do an extension of the route north of Thorne as a day ride and include Barmby Barrage or I’d do the Humber Bridge element as a day ride. Good job you chose Horkstow Hill to get down into Barton. That’s the most shallow road onto the top of the escarpment, the other ones are buggers. I even have to zig zig up them with just a day bag on my 1988 Dawes Galaxy.
That windmill that you passed at Topham which is a Hamlet in the parish of Sykehouse just after crossing the River Went which you both commented on is the residence of a Mr Roy Clarke the writer of The Last of the Summer Wine and Open All Hours amongst other famous TV progs. It’s quite a village is that as John Parr the musician who wrote St Elmo’s Fire, Theme Song to The Breakfast Club film, lives round the corner from him.
Anyways Dave, really enjoyed this one, n looking forward to your further adventures…. keep posting.
    Bessies…Ron
