Why couldn't they use this for the Enterprise F? Hope to see the Constitution class be upgraded more, as well to see the Enterprise G and on be in the Constitution class.
I'm fine with the saucer, but I think the Navigational Deflector needs some work. It looks too...technical, like it has too many small parts which could break.
The saucer's dorsal and ventral hulls are convex reminiscent of the -D rather than concave like the original Enterprise. I think it adds a little dimension to the saucer, gives it a little more interior room without throwing off the profile. Personally, I really, _really_ dig this look. I even might... _might_ ... likeitmorethanthefirstrefitGASP!😲

It looks amazing!! Beautiful. Always struck me as odd how every legacy ship except the constitution, is present in the TNG era, including the Excelsior Miranda and Oberth. Guess it was too iconic and could “confuse” some viewers
The TNG production team was originally going to use the Movie Enterprise model for the Stargazer. Even the original dialogue called it a Constitution Class. One of the producers vetoed the use of the Movie model since it would "devalue the movie ship" or something. Stargazer was given a new model, and the line was redubbed to say "Constellation Class". Its the same reason the Sovereign Class was never on DS9.
@@simpsonfan13 Sonya's ship is an Obena-class. They're not merely modified Excelsiors as if they're old ships being repurposed. They're an entirely separate class that is likely to replace an Ambassador-class and supplement Galaxy or Sovereign classes given Starfleet was still recovering from the Dominion War. The designers and engineers took the shape of the enhanced Excelsior variant (think of the Enterprise B and Lakota) and make it bigger, tougher, and still be a versatile enough ship to be a jack of all trades. When you think about it, it's both a practical and political move. Practical given the Excelsior design, even it's Enterprise B variant, was a tried and true engineering masterpiece. The problem was all Excelsior ships in service were too old to be constantly upgraded and many of them were scrapped after the war due to extensive battle damage. The Obena-class was literally a new Excelsior-class for a new era and was built from the ground up. Everything about it was new and tailor made for that class, so they're entirely new ships to fit a niche. Then there's the political aspect. An Excelsior was always the symbol of Federation diplomacy even when there were better ships that could do same the job. It excelled the role the Constitution-class has done for decades and everyone knew when you see an Excelsior heavy cruiser in your doorstep, you knew Starfleet and the Federation are taking you seriously.
That model is top notch. Full credit to the artists, people who worked on her. Almost enough to make me love a Constitution. If not for the Sovereign and later NX1458, Hans Talhoffer in STO...
The Connie refit is my favorite ship, and I definitely adore this ship. Maybe the advanced quantums are a bit much, but overall a very nice ship that would have been great to see pop up in the TNG/DS9 era
Yeah, in the show, they could have used the excuse that some old admiral always had a soft spot for the Connie Refit, so he used his pull and clout to make sure a modern version of the Connie Refit got made. It would have been a prototype for a new, upgraded, Constitution class!
The Constellation-class refit lost the best features of the Starship Enterprise (TOS): the spinning lights of the Bussard collectors, the smooth hull surfaces, the pure energy phasers and photon torpedoes, etc.
Ah, good old bridge commander.Good memories from back in the Armada days. This game needs a proper successer. Like god, imagine it being redone on unreal 5 💥. With that out of the way, this design is a pritty cool concept, and would it work in the trek verse? Maybe I could see it as an admirals ship refited during the early tng era. Great video, good old nostalgia.
The Enterprise-A Refit Refit. Pretty awesome. Note how surprised the enemy will be (especially in the alpha quadrant) when a constitution class starts kicking their behind. By the way, I like your new intro. Nicely done.
Constitution-class vessels were still around in the 24th Century. The wreck of one can be seen when the Enterprise-D arrives at the aftermath of Wolf 359, and in a few fleet shots during the Dominion War Constitution-class ships can just be seen.
@@anno78 hadn’t noticed but that is interesting. It actually does make sense because the Mirandas were still in service and had been refitted and modernized many times. I am sure the same was true for the constitutions.
Nice, this ship has an actual thicker neck pylon! I never understood how enemies could just easily blast at the neck of the older Constitution and separate the saucer from the secondary hull
I wonder about that from time to time. I tend to think of the neck and warp pylons as well structured, reinforced components of the starship; they are meant to take alot of punishment, not only from impacts but from the stress of maneuvers. I also figure there are more important areas to target on a ship, areas that can be damaged without necessarily destroying the whole vessel and anything else in close proximity to that vessel, such as your own vessel. Taking out phaser banks, torpedo bays and sensors makes more sense to me, and that seems to bear out in most of Star Trek. Hitting at the warp pylons and neck just seems wasteful of phasers and torps. Funny observation: in TWOK , the Enterprise takes out one of the Reliant's warp nacelles, crippling but not destroying the ship. By contrast, in TNG, the Bozeman, a soyuz class variant akin to the miranda class, of which Reliant was, merely rakes the warp nacelle of the Enterprise D with its own nacelle, triggering a chain reaction that eventually destroys the Enterprise D. Makes you wonder about engineering designs and production mindset of StarFleet Engineering.
I really like the thicker neck, and the nacelles. The saucer and Impulse Engines are OK, too. The Navigational Deflector needs work, though. It looks too...technical, like it has too many small pieces, all of which could break.
Great video! Great ship!!! Put this up against three Vor'Cha's. Make it a modern Kobiyashi Maru!!! It would also be so awesome if someone made a version of this with the Enterprise-A's markings on her!
The Constitution class's platform size is similar to the late 24th-century Intrepid class. The problem with any old platform with high usage is structural fatigue and the platform's upgrade growth potential. For the late 24th-century Intrepid class's role, the Constitution class Refit-X would a good alternative. Prometheus class's tech tree can be applied to scale.
Nice stout connecting neck, good balance, I do much prefer this saucer section, never cared for the underscoop of the original, this is a very handsome ship, one thing I've never cared for, starting with the original movie and continuing through all series, is the torpedoes, in TOS, although they weren't initially called torpedoes but phasers (I guess they hadn't yet nailed down what was what), but the charges they fired were lightning fast, and powerful upon detonation, and looked really cool, ever since they just look so anemic, slow moving colored light effects that look as though they'd have trouble denting my trucks door, but this ship looks good
In terms of trying to find where this ship came from, I tried to find NCC-1796 USS Resurrection, which is on the hull. The redesign appears to have been around since 2010, but none of the sources seem to have any downloads for it. Perhaps Retro-Badger can try tracking down the files in his install related to the variant and try and reverse engineer the mod to make it available for everyone.

Scotty should have been alive during the Dominion war. This would have made a great story if he had refit an old constitution to this spec and come to the rescue. Enterprise, no bloody A, B, C or...D.
How about advanced transphasic quantum torpedoes? I don't see why not, we've seen what happens when you get just a regular photon and upgrade it to transphasic capabilities. Surely they have these in the 32nd century since quantum's are standard.
I would've redesigned the impulse engines to look more like what's on sovereign. The saucer does look a bit bulky, should've just stuck with classic saucer but uparmored. Instead of third launcher they could've turned it into a phaser cannon like on the galaxy class dreadnought
If only this refit were canon. She looks absolutely gorgeous!!
This is what we *should’ve* gotten as Enterprise G, *not* we actually did get.
