The reason why Reliant seemed more powerful than Enterprise in that first attack is because everyone forgets that Federation ships have warp-boosted phasers. But, when the warp engines end up damaged, the phasers aren't as powerful. Khan knocked out both main power and aux power, so the Enteprise's reduced phaser power would not have been enough to damage a shielded Reliant. Now, get Reliant unshielded and damage her warp drive? That means her phasers are now as weakened as Enterprise. Also, no photons? This becomes a war of attrition. And considering that Enterprise crippled Reliant almost as badly as she was with fewer shots, Joachim was not going to chance slugging it out with Sulu rolling critical damage phaser locks as easily as he did.
Starfleet ships have their warp coils further away from the main hull to minimize radiation exposure to the crew, which allows them to form much more powerful warp fields. I would suggest don't go for for the warp and impulse engines it lost valuable time. The best system to take out first is weapons primarily the photon torpedo launchers
A year late, but I disagree. I find targeting the enemy warp core is the single greatest decision you can make in the battle. Every bit of damage causes a massive reduction in enemy shields, weapons, impulse, and sensors. Targeting any other subsystem only gives you a return investment when it becomes disabled; The Warp Core however immediately shows a return because every bit of damage reduces its usefulness on a linear scale. 20% damage to a torpedo tube? They still shoot torpedoes from that tube at you. 20% damage to the Warp Core? Phaser damage, tube load speed, impulse engine speed, sensor distance, etc etc reduced 20% all at once. Finally, the best reason to target the Warp Core? Unlike all other subsystems, once you take out the Warp Core the enemy ship explodes, regardless of its hull strength or shield status.
I'm a year late, but for your future battles, I recommend always targeting the Warp Core. Everyone is going to tell you to target weapons or sensors, but the Warp Core is the *only* subsystem that gives you an immediate return investment for every bit of damage you cause it. If you do 50% damage to a sensor array, they still see you. If you do 50% damage to a torpedo tube, they're still going to shoot torpedoes at you. However, if you do 50% damage to the warp core, every other subsystem is reduced by 50%. That's 50% less shield regeneration rate, 50% less impulse speed, 50% less phaser damage, 50% less torpedo loading speed. There's no greater subsystem to target. Especially because unlike all other subsystems, once you destroy the warp core, the ship explodes - no matter what its hull strength is at.

The positioning of the warp engines doesn't have anything to do with that the federation believe in peaceful solutions. It has more to do with the fact that when Gene Roddenberry created the series he was involved in ship design and one of the rules that he had was that the warp engines had to be behind the saucer they had to have line of sight between one another to be able to function and create a stable warp field as well as functioning in twos. So, this is a fairly accurate representation of how this battle would play out, based on the Paramount sanctioned, and FASA produced Star Trek Tactical Combat Simulator game produced in late 80's. As well, as the other, better known Star Trek Starship Combat game, Starfleet Battles. Miranda Class was known as the 'New Light Cruiser' class of vessel. Smaller and less expensive than the 'Enterprise' Class Heavy Cruiser/Galatic Survey Cruiser. Yet still containing much of the weapons and shield capabilities of the larger 'Enterprise' class. (In the FASA game, the "Enterprise" class was a further development of the 'Constitution' class of ST TOS tv series) Enterprise has greater power reserves to route into shields, though both ships had basically the same shield system. The Enterprise shown in this video is not the same version of 'Enterprise' class that fought Reliant in the Battle of the Matura Nebula. Can you do more battles with the enterprise refit in this video badgey
Yes :-)
@@RetroBadgerGaming ok
I got this mod and some ships won't spawn in and it won't let me set them as enemies. Does anyone know why?
That’s strange. Almost sounds like the mod has corrupted. I find if you don’t run it as administrator on windows 10 it doesn’t work properly either.
This not evenly matched in Starfleet Command Orion Pirates there is mission based on the movie and it set in a nebula.
That Miranda class is NOT lore-accurate. It is using solid-beam phasers as in ST TNG. In the film, it is using the much cooler looking pulse-phasers. In the battle as supplied here, only the Enterprise is lore-accurate. The footage from The Wrath of Khan speaks for itself. Jump to the 2:07 mark to see what I mean. czcams.com/video/WCpYqWAIwFA/video.html
Mr Spock, bring up their prefix code.
KHAAAN!
Yes, captain, I deprived your ship of power and on my next pass, I plan to deprives you of your life 😄
Enterprise kicked her back side
You said correct ships 1701 was the enterprise Khan attacked 1701-a was voyage home
Thanks 🙂
How did you change the phasers on the enterprise
It's a new mod called bc-remastered.
@@RetroBadgerGaming is it from nexus mods or a different one
@@RetroBadgerGaming awesome video btw!
USS Relaint, wrong phasers 🙈😅
You used the Enterprise A against the Reliant
constitution vs kazon ship!!!
Do this again but take out the torpedoes first.
How can you forget to repair your warpcore all this time
a lot of two dimensional thinking in this fight
Where's the nebula?
That's not the correct enterprise from the wrath of khan. That's ncc 1701-a
Wrong enterprise registry!
The 'Mk 1' Enterprise class which started with the USS Enterprise refit of ST TMP, had the same weapons layout as the Old Constitution Class. There were no aft firing phaser banks or torpedoes on the Enterprise in The Wrath of Kahn.
wrong
41 secs in. "The Miranda class is a battle ship, a bit more advanced.".....and I'm out.
Miranda class is a battleship?! It's one of the weakest ships ever! Constitution should wreck it's shit.
The original Miranda Class was superior to the Constitution Class. Only a century later during the Dominion War was it an underpowered ship.
@@Idazmi7
The original script for WoK was that the Miranda was quantifiably inferior to the Constitution class.
It has slightly larger volume, and is slightly newer, but is a cheaper more 'ersatz' design which lacks the sheer firepower and shields of the Connie.
Especially by WoK where connies had a refit.

_"The original script for WoK was that the Miranda was quantifiably inferior to the Constitution class."_
*There was no Miranda Class in the original script for The Wrath of Khan.* In that script, the USS Reliant was a Constitution Class, just like Enterprise. They only changed it because the director thought having two ships of the same class would be confusing to the audience.

There no canon anywhere in the TV shows or films that even *mildly suggests* the Constitution Class to be superior in any way. The fact the Miranda Class was used for the next century while the Connies were all decommissioned implies the EXACT opposite.
*Use your eyes.* The finalized USS Reliant seen in the actual film has all the standard weapons, plus oversized cannons - Enterprise does not. The Reliant also has double the torpedoes compared to Enterprise. This isn't even a debate: you're insisting the Reliant is weaker based on oddball video game mechanics, not canon.

Cope, seethe, cringe.
Original script said the Reliant was to be inferior, get over it.

*The original script said what I said it does.* You're the only one seething here.
