    Brother you did a great service to DIY'ers with this video. . . I finished it today and it works awesome.. We barely looked at the instructions. I do have to say that filling the heater core mentioned by a commenter really cut down on the bleeding the system process We did a couple extra things to secure the glove box in position as the inside bolt hole was cracked, and fitment of the vents. none of them budge at all. Thanks Bud... much appreciated video... 2015 Hunter Edition XP900..

    Your video was so spot on I did not have to look at the instructions. The only thing I did differently was once I connected the heater hoses to the heater core, was place the core on the ground and fill it with coolant. Then I placed plugs in the hoses and clamped them. Once the unit was installed, I cut the hoses to length with minimal fluid loss. This also minimized my air pocket issues.

    Very instrumental video. I rewatched many times while installing my heater in my 2013 900 xp esp ranger. With my time schedule and so many other accessories installed, took me 3 days, not 3 hours 🤯

    Thanks for posting this! I got hung up when it came to installing the bottom vents. I didn't know I had to cut off the whole cubby portion. Instructions aren't very clear when it came to that.

    I run the engine from a cold state with the radiator CAP OFF AND THE HEATER TURN ON WITH THE TEMP SETTING TO THE HIGHEST TEMP until the thermostat opens and the water level in the radiator begins to suck the water level down, pour in the antifreeze in the radiator to obtain the proper level in the radiator. The air works out as the water goes down. When the water level remains constant put the radiator cap on and tighten it.. Full the overflow tank to the proper level. Let it run keeping an eye on the temp and water level... After a few minutes turn the engine off and let it sit for a hour or so. Check it for proper levels couple times more after running it... Be sure to turn the heater ON while CHECKING THE COOLING WATER LEVELS!!

    I have a 2014 900 crew with polaris heater I installed about a year ago following your great video I followed your bleeding process and since have also automotive coolant pressure tool to try to bleed the system. My machine as I am driving it will build to about 180 degrees and then drop to about 168 and it will do this about three times then finally climb up to the 206 so the fan kicks on and my heater only puts out about 100 degrees on a heat gun and my hose to the heater where it plugs into the heater is about 180 degrees on the heat gun. Any ideas thanks.

    I started this last night. Mine looks like it’s all plug and play not requiring the two thick cables you said to buy? Would that make any sense? Thank you so much for making this video. It helps so much to have when I run into a snag. I may need some advice in the next day or two. lol

    Great vid, thanks! It will help a bunch. I need to get at my fan as it has stopped. For a while it would be slow to spin up so I think the bearings are dry / dirty. 2014 model. Any suggestions to ease the pain of access would be appreciated.

    Hello, nice video on the heater install. I recently purchased a 2020 Polaris 1000 EPS Ranger. Have you did a install video on this machine yet.? I am curious as to how much difference. There would be on the install of the 1000 over the 900. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Did you have problems with the studs on the heater not being long enough to get through the metal on the other side of the fire wall to be able to install the nuts? The firewall is flexible so was wondering if you had to put pressure on it to get the screws to pass through the metal?

    I have a 2017 1000 cup highlifter crew. I am running into an issue with the plenum not sitting In the right spot because of a fuse, relay box mounted under the dash. The plenum needs to move forward about another 1-1.5 inches so everything lined up properly. Any suggestions?

  • @captseamus

    Bad idea to run the positive and negative battery cables alongside together... separate runs are the normal application preventing any chance of rubbing through the rubber cable protection. Or run each cable in plastic split wrap encasements.

    i have a 2015 ranger xp 900 with factory installed heater IT DONT WORK my polaris dealer said my module box is bad and he couldnt get the one part i needed i would have to buy a new heater for 800.00 what a ripoff polaris like all your parts
    it should last more than 2 years 6 mounths if you think of it

    • @tallyhooooo
      @tallyhooooo  Před 6 lety

      Glenn Halvorson I'm not sure what module box he is talking about. The heater runs off the cooling system so it should make heat no matter what. The plate with the control knobs is available separately, if that is what he is talking about. That is the only portion I have seen fail.

    Great video tallyhooooo ! Clear and did not leave any questions. From your experience, do you think it is cheaper to get the regular xp 1000 crew and add cab enclosures...….or to just get the NorthStar Crew 1000? From what I understand, the only "cab enclosure" item that the NorthStar model has that can not be replicated is the a/c? Thank you very much for posting this great clip!

    • @tallyhooooo
      @tallyhooooo  Před 5 lety

      It is usually a couple grand cheaper by building your own with no A/C - The problem we are running into up in Minnesota is getting the Crew Northstars, i have heard they are out till January 2019. One could likely build a non Northstar right away.

    • @campingalan
      @campingalan Před 5 lety

      Ok...cool. I will look in to that. I was just up in MN for 3 nights, so took the opportunity to stop by the Polaris dealer in Fridley. Yes...they only had the front bench Northstars. I would definitely get the crew model so that additional friends could come with us. We live in the San Juans of CO and have incredible 4 wheeling in the region.

    hi tallyhooooo my polaris dealer said the valves were not staying open so they said they proped the valves open and not to touch the heat switch so it keeps heating but it still dont heat it heats very little i freeze do you think i should get a new switch if i can get one it workks the fan

    • @tallyhooooo
      @tallyhooooo  Před 6 lety

      Glenn Halvorson not sure, I've never seen one where there was an issue with the valve/actuator on the fan body itself. Everytime I have seen an issue with heating was the switch/knob panel.

      Put shut off valves in the two hoses coming into the heater on the engine firewall before the hoses go through wall to the heater inside the cab.
