- Prepare to be amazed by the woodturning transformation of a simple piece of firewood into a breath-taking work of art. Using the precision and skill of a woodturning lathe, I have created a stunning hybrid epoxy resin bowl that will leave you in awe.
The natural beauty of the firewood is enhanced and preserved as it becomes the foundation for this extraordinary creation. As green infused deep pour epoxy resin are carefully poured, they encapsulate the wood's unique grains and textures, creating an exquisite marriage between nature and craftsmanship.
This hybrid epoxy resin bowl serves as more than just a decorative piece - it's a testament to creativity and innovation.

Many many thanks
David, ive been dying for another wood turning video and you Sir have come through! I love the blue color and the wood grain together. Very beautiful art Sir! 👏🏾👍🏾👍🏾👏🏾
Thank you so much 😀 Have more firewood transformations on the way ;) what is your favourite type of project?
That's awesome, I can't wait to see more! Idk why, but I would love to see a bowl that looks like an acorn with a removable epoxy/wood acorn looking top. I love anything epoxy & wood together, lol. Thank you again for sharing!!! 🫡
How satisfying must that be, loved it. I did some wood turning when at grammar school I only wish I carried on with it. Making things these days is so rare buying crap fro China seems the way the young buy stuff in this day and age.
just BEAUTIFUL!!!! TYFS
Thank you soo much :) What would you like to see next?
Appriciate.
Fantastico!!!
Thank you 😀
you make it look so easy 😄 masterful work as always
Thank you so much 😀
Just superb! Lovely colour choice.
Thank you! 😊
Outstanding piece. Beautiful! If I could I would buy it.
Very ❤❤
This is satisfying to watch! How do you get the outside/inside to be smooth without lines from the tool? Never done anything like this so just wondered. very impressed! Now im going to have to watch more videos haha
Stunningly beautiful piece. Almost looks like burl wood. The blues contrast perfectly with the light wood. Exceptionally well done
Thank you so much 😀
It does, yes. I would like to see it with a maroon colour which would also contrast particularly well IMHO.
Beautiful!
Thank you so much 😀
Awesome ❤
The color contrast is fantastic! Another stunning piece!
Thank you so much 😀 I have more firewood transformation in the making, what is your favorite colour?
@DavidsWoodturning It depends on the piece. Generally blue, but some of your red stuff (like the red and black goblet) came out amazing. I look forward to seeing more of this style though 😁
That is a stunning job David!
Thank you so much 😀
Красота ❤!!!
Krásná práce 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Stunning work keep em coming 😊
Thank you! Cheers!
Stunning bowl and beautiful colour - must have took ages to learn how far to cut into the centre before turning - have you ever drilled in too deep? 🤩👍👀
Thank you so much 😀 It is actually so common in the woodturning world they named “funnel club” when someone does that and joins the elite club 🤣 Only happened once to me. Considering i have done hundreds of projects that not too bad. I am constantly measuring the depth and bottom thickness and always aim to leave a little extra at the bottom.
Linda, muito linda peça!
I’ve often wondered if these holes and crevices could be sandblasted.
Amazing job. I am curious about how long it took minus the epoxy cure time.
Man, i hate watching your videos (not really, i love them) because you're so good at what you do, you make it look easy, making ME think i can do it lol but you have an unbelievable talent that i can't match...I LOVE your work!!
Thank you so much 😀 Never doubt yourself! Just imagine, 4-5yrs ago I didn’t even know the word “woodturning” Learnt everything from CZcams then mastered the skills in my workshop. Still learning tho…
Absolutely stunning! But can I ask why you didn't cut out the inner bowl so that you had another form? It could have been the mini version of fantastic! I really enjoy your work.
Thank you so much 🙂
You are totally right. I thought about it, but when looked at the inner core I found the end bowl would have been too small. But it always nice to save materials so actually regretted not using it at the end...
❤
Awesome bowl. What’s the solution you use to wet sand and the white paste for the shine?
Youre stuff ALWAYS comes out perfect! Just amazing. I just want to know where you get your logo coins from.
Thank you so much 🙂

Are you a maker yourself too? What do you make?
I'm not really a maker (per se), I'm a wood turner...kinda. Not anywhere near as good as you, but I'm working on it. I give my stuff away to friends and family so I can make room to practice some more. They keep asking for me to sign things, thus my question.
@@michaelross8794 definitely a great way of marking your projects. Keep turning
Very nice. Where did you get that giant chisel seen at 6:00?
What do you use to release bowl from wood? Great job.
What kind of tool was that really large circular carbide bit tool?
Nice! How much? I need a container for my keys, wallet, pens, and other every-day-carry items.
Thank you 😀

If you have to ask the price, you can't afford it. :-)
@@JohnSmithEx So if I didn't ask and the price was a million dollars, I could afford it? Kinda dumb.
Такую и я не прочь иметь. Красивая и практичная.
Thank you so much 😀
I throw ceramics on the wheel and have noticed that it is important to slow down the motion of the tool as one approaches the axis of rotation. It is moving across fewer inches per second of the object because the rotation rate is constant and the radius is getting smaller. It makes spirals in the clay if you move too fast at the center, but wood probably just pushes the tool around.
Thanks for sharing this. Very agree, it does the same effect if the chisel moves too fast. For finishing passes I always slow down the movements and take very gentle passes
love the finish on this bowl. where did you ever learn to use the one tool upside down? great idea.
Thank you so much 😀 It is not upside down 😉
At the 6:03 mark? I have never ever seen anyone use a rounded tool that way. Maybe it is not the tool I think it is. Still a remarkable turning. @@DavidsWoodturning
@@chrisjohnston2449 yes, check out Simon Hope Woodturning Negative rake chisels
Absolutely stunning!!!! What finish are you using on the wood?
Actually it was only some mineral oil. But will apply some rubiomonocoat for protection
Is it water you spray?
Great work, as always. One question; where do you get your medallions from?
Thank you 😀 Check out Von Hanke on Etsy
Hey that was great … can I ask where you get the coins make for the bottom of your work ?
Thank you 😀 Check out Von Hanke on Etsy
David, how much epoxy resin did you mix for this pour?
It was about 2kg
Turned out great. What is the name of your cutter at 6:07??
Check out Simon Hope woodturning negative rake chisels
what do you spray on and what do you use to polish?
Clear gloss lacquer
Diese Schale finde ich sehr schön. Solche mache ich auch am liebsten!
Thank you so much 😀
It's a beautiful piece of work but not sure it warrants that price tag
Thank you!
Is it 5min Araldite that u use to glue the mounting block on
It is Zap 5min epoxy
@@DavidsWoodturning thanks mate everyone in Australia calls it Araldite pretty sure all the same
I would make pencil & pen holder or something like that by turning that wood into hippopotamus or crocodile head.
Ah, yes, the mallet approach! P. S. Is ir just me, or does anyone else expect for little creatures to live in those caverns In the wood?
Lovely
Nice work, but the walls are too thick... for me....thinner walls would have been elegant
Soon to be found in a charity shop near you 😂😂
Hope they sell it for a lot
Is it just me or does the log look like a woman’s torso
What a plethora of plastic waste for an exceedingly ugly cat's feeding bowl ... 😱
Hate cats
@@DavidsWoodturning Ah, that's why you cobbled together such an eyesore for a cat's feeding bowl.
