As somebody who had a Breville/Sage Dual Boiler since 2016, I must say it's a wonderful appliance... until it breaks down... Which mine did, periodically.
That's when you'll understand why its classed as an appliance and not a machine.
You need to bear in mind that it’s still a consumer orientated espresso appliance, not really designed for commercial use. So you may be shortening its lifespan depending on how often its used on a daily basis.
For just a fraction more may I suggest you look into the Rancilio Silvia Pro X. Another Dual Boiler with PID control, but made with commercial grade parts and fittings.... You'll understand when you have to replace a solenoid or your water pump.
Now that I have a Rancilio Silvia Pro X, I'll never look back....
    A great and informative video.

Thanks. I was very worried about its reliability and what would happen if it broke down. It was assured by the shop I bought it from that they had teams of engineers all over Thailand. Let’s see.
My idea is to buy another one and keep it in my condo as a spare just in case. Still cheaper than getting a la Mazocca or whatever they’re called.

I'm in no way a coffee snob but I know what I like :-) one of my favourite things to do when in town during the daytime, is finding and trying the coffee more hidden coffee shops around the district. Watching Franco adding sugar to his latte, I'm surprised he can taste the coffee it must be like syrup, bleegh

I retired from a company that sold coffee and tea to hotels and restaurants. Generally, there are 2 types of coffee: Arabica and Robusta. Arabica is high grown and is milder. Robusta comes from lowland plantations and is generally more acidic. A true ITALIAN coffee is a mixture of both giving it a nice acidity. In contrast, the coffee at Starbucks is entirely Arabica so it is quite mild even though it is dark roasted. My preference? I like the true Italian espresso. I purchase the LaVazza because it is the cheapest, not necessarily the best (but it is very good) as well as an Indonesian Arabica coffee which has a really nice strong taste. Another favorite is Ethiopian Arabica coffee which many believe to be the world's finest coffee. At home, I also have a Breville espresso maker but, a few months ago, I discovered the Aeropress which is essentially all I use now. It makes a fabulous coffee.

Not a coffee drinker at all (staunch tea man) but for some reason I found this absolutely fascinating. Maybe it's time to branch out lol. Been a long time watcher but have yet to make my first trip to Thailand, something I am planning to do in the next few months. Looking forward to seeing Phil and all the crew when I finally get there. A latte and a Guinness or two in Le Pub is now definitely on the itinerary...slainte!

Tara and I found a great coffee shop at the end of soi bukaow behind the market called Benjamit coffee. They roast their own beans and has quite a fresh selection from all over. Brought home a few bags and unfortunately they are gone. Looking forward to our next trip that will definitely include Le Pub and sample a cup or 2. Best wishes

My first visit was in 2012.
And one of the most rapid changes i've seen Pattaya, or actually Thailand in general over those 10 years. Is how exponentially the coffee culture has exploded.
On my first visits it was near impossible to get a quality cup. They would just boil some water and throw one of those Nescafe instant coffeepackets in.
Now you can't throw a stone without hitting a nice little coffeeshop with quality coffee.

The Breville espresso machine is branded as Sage in Europe, and as I only make espresso at home, have the Sage Duo Temp, which does not have a dual boiler.
As you are producing on a commercial basis. obviously need the Dual Boiler.
Have gone from only ever drinking instant, to a bit of a coffee geek in the last couple of years, do really interested in you findings, and impressed with the time and effort you have made to ptt try douche a decent cup of coffee.
On small ( yes a bit nerdy) tip….. when you first start pouring the milk into the cup…. Do it with cup tilted, pour from a greater height, and go around the cup 3 or 4 times.
This forces the milk to sink into the coffee, and produce a well blended drink.
    😍

I refuse to pay stupid prices for "gourmet" coffee. I won't go to Starbucks or ANY over priced coffee house, especially where "Barista's" want a tip. When on our cruise in Oct-Nov I had some speciality coffees because it was a part of pkg.

    • @LePubPattaya
      @LePubPattaya  Před 5 měsíci +2

I don’t think k the coffee at Starbucks is all that bad, as long as people know that it’s dispensed from a machine. As for prices, you are drinking coffee in a bar that has different overheads than a regular coffee shop. I don’t think the cost is too high.
