    As a 45 year old player that doesn't have a strong arm and just started playing about 5 months ago, I'm absolutely loving my Latitude 64 Opto Sapphire disc. At a 10 speed I can run it up to 300-350 without overthrowing. I would suggest it to any beginner looking for an easy to throw distance driver.

    Awesome recommendations. I would like to add the the Archer from Discraft is another good driver for beginners. It's my roller disc but I've seen beginners bomb them like Nukes. I love the Wraith but my favorite driver is the Flash. It's a shame that they are out of print now. I still bag a Z line Flash though. The Beast is another disc that I threw early on and it helped me learn how to control distance.

    Valkyrie in pro plastic and the sidewinder. Great understable discs. One you've got your form down and good snap, you find a nice s curve. Plus pro plastic beats in a lot quicker than the more premium plastics. So you'll get to see multiple stages of wear.

      @danielhady3021 Před rokem

      @@marks9444 yes the Valkyrie is a 9 speed driver. But if you can't throw 10-12 speed drivers, it's perfect. It's a good disc to shape shots especially once it's worn in and you've improved your form. Get nice hyzer flex shots.

    • @marks9444
      @marks9444 Před rokem +2

      I agree. My first 2 drivers when I was a beginner were the Valkyrie and a Destroyer. 🤣 Needless to say, I preferred the Valkyrie. I still bag it and I love it for hyzer flips.

    • @serenityinsilence
      @serenityinsilence Před rokem

      The Valkyrie is a great disc. I’d also recommend the beast at 10 speed. The beast is great for stronger beginners and intermediate players. Although my first driver was a wraith, the valk and beast are both used more in my bag. I got my first ace with a champion beast. Another great disc for beginners with slower arm speed and just starting out is the latitude 64 diamond. It’s a super forgiving 8 speed with plenty of glide. Once you get better it becomes a great recovery disc. You can give it a light toss from out of the brush and it will get a full flight still.

  • @Mr.Pants45
    @Mr.Pants45 Před 3 lety +2

    I'd consider myself a novice and most of my local courses are par 54-56 and the only 2 aces I have have been with destroyers. It's good to understand stability and why stable discs like the destroyer can be useful even when you cant turn it over as well as the Sockibomb. That said, I have found that the Innova Mamba is really good for beginners to understand how stability effects their throws and can give an beginner a bit more distance on those wide open shots.

    • @jeffdejaynes7231
      @jeffdejaynes7231 Před 3 lety

      Definitely agree. The Destroyer can be a useful disc even for those of us without the arm speed to utilize it to its fullest potential. I have a max weight Star mamba that is more stable than the numbers would suggest. It flat bombs though. I could definitely see it being a good mold to carry several weights and plastics in for noodle arms.

    I’ve had to switch to left handed because of an injury to my right arm. I’ve been using a latitude 64 diamond, champion roadrunner, champion Valkyrie, champion beast, and avenger ss in z plastic. I had a bunch of other drivers that I used right handed that are too fast for me right now playing lefty. It’s been a struggle having to learn all over again. 😂

    Latitude 64 Opto Jade! Best, longest fairway driver ever. If you like Valkyrie, you have to try this disc. The lighter ones in particular just glide like crazy.

    The best 10speed driver hands down is the ESP AvengerSS. Easy distance and you get any shot out of it with some practice. Ive seen nothing even touch it

    I liked the thrasher better as a newer player. I also think you could’ve said a Zeus as it flips up easier and will hold some lines.

    In my personal I think your wrong. The Nuke by discraft is the only disc a beginner ought to bag. Perhaps a putter as well but even then the Nuke has good putting lines

    My first ever disc was a dx teerex. However I've noticed all these videos say beginners will see it fade out then come back right on understable discs I never had that problem when I started so does that mean I was never a beginner if I never had the beginner flights?????

    Probably the best beginner driver I've ever thrown is a Vibram Unlace, if you're new and can get one of these don't hesitate. Unfortunately Vibram stopped making disc golf discs.

    I can only throw forehands for distance because I throw out my shoulder whenever I go for backhand max distance. Do you have recommendations for forehand distance? Are they the same recs?

    Love the video man but just a little honest feedback.. when you are throwing trying to show what the disc does, you stand right in the way almost the whole time. I would angle your camera a little to the right. Not to the left cause you always walk that way before the disc has even landed. Anyway, love it man! Keep it up

    Bought a Hades after watching this vid and threw a 414ft the first time in the field. Previous best throw was 340 😲😲😲
    Also, you guys should check out the Scorch. Goes nearly as far for me as the Hades but more reliable (doesn't turn and burn as readily).

    I used a distance driver and I was BOMBING it but I lost it and didn't look at what disc it was before I lost it. I remember it had a dome and it was understandable and I think although I'm not positive that it was a Disccraft.

    I’m pushing out of beginner stage and my hades is my go to unless there’s a headwind then it’s the Anax. I wish we can see the flight of the hades. It really does bomb. Same with the avenger SS. Rollers are great but beginners don’t want to see that

      So for a beginner the avenger ss will get you good distance without fading to hard ? I’m looking for something that can help my distance and and not turn to hard but most discs are sold out

      @@herbdeanisthegoldstandard8293 I notice there avenger SS everywhere. And it’s a great disc. I can throw it hard and get it to turn a little and fade back almost to the straight line I threw it on. I also use it on long thin fairway shots by hyper flipping it. Very easy to control

    X3 is a bit too fast and more overstable... I would recommend D3 or D4 before an X3. Others are pretty spot on!

    Can anyone tell me if I’m beginner or not… idk where I fall in the scale of skill, I’ve been playing pretty consistently for the last 3-4 years and I’ve gotten to where I can consistently throw a par 3 on 200-400 holes, and occasionally every few holes a birdie. I don’t have access to many larger courses since I’m 17 and it’s more of a hobby, so I’ve usually only played holes around 200-500 range with a few being par 4s but high majority par 3s. With that info, should I consider myself still a beginner or am i at least in the amateur level now?
