Man! I relate to the incident happened to you. I took delivery of my Speed 400 in August of 2023. It was my first motorcycle coming from a Suzuki Burgman. Two months in and I was learning, having fun, rode about 2.4k kms and boom! I was on my way to Hyderabad from Vijayawada in the highway. 30 kms more and I would have been home. There was a turnaround approaching as I was cruising. I slowed down and switched to the leftmost lane anticipating that vehicles from the opposite direction would make a u-turn on the highway. A couple on a passion pro or a splendor (I didn't make out the motorcycle) were making a u-turn. I saw them, they made their u-turn and it looked like they were done making the turn. They were in the middle lane. I was on the left lane going around 70. They were at a much slower speed as they just made a u-turn. And suddenly, without indicating, the motorcycle swerves complete left crashing into me. I was thrown off the bike, both the people on the other motorcycle were thrown of their bike, my tank bag and rear bag went in different directions. I got up, fearing I may have injured myself seriously and thinking I'm not able to feel anything due to the adrenaline. People on the road helped pick my motorcycle up, help get the two people up. I checked on my motorcycle, there was smoke coming from the exhaust pipe, my gear lever bent, instrument cluster misaligned, and that's all I noticed at that time. This was around 8:30 in the morning. The couple got up, they had scratches, the uncle tells me he was coming to a stop on the left because there was a bus stop apparently. And I didn't have the awareness to be extra careful and watchout for any such happenings. I was glad that they were not seriously injured as there were trucks and cars coming from the rear and the uncle wasn't even wearing a helmet. I waited by the tea stall I crashed in front of for 4 hours for the RSA to arrive as my motorcycle wouldn't start. Of course it would not have happened had he checked his rear view mirror or used the indicator. Or if I had slowed down even more prior, had the skill to be aware and careful to avoid this altogether. But I learned something that day. I was geared up top to bottom in Viaterra Spencer gear and Viaterra boots, grid gloves, an MT helmet so I came out scratch free. Well. I had a scratch on my lower back because I didn't zip up the rear 180* zipper on the Viaterra Spencer jacket and pant. I realised months later that the zipper was stitched improperly and couldn't be zipped due to manufacturing defect. Viaterra repaired it for me free of cost but had I realised that when I got the jacket I wouldn't have had that scratch. My Speed 400 was in the showroom at Hyd for 2 and half months while I was miserable being away from it :) The bill came out to 60k and insurance covered 46k. I did have zero dep but that was the amount the insurance company covered. So yeah it was an experience. I learned I should be more careful, develop my skills, and stay safe on the road. I did brake at the time but we were just too close for the brakes to have done their job I guess. I have been practicing emergency braking and it feels great to know the potential of the brakes, the grip that the tyres offer, been rev-matching and braking at the same time and I just sometimes remember the crash and think about the 2 and half months of riding I missed. I have a lot to learn on the Speed 400 and just felt like sharing my crash experience.

2 weeks ago I bought a '17 R3. Been working on my skills in parking lots daily, country roads, a little city, a few highway runs. I have a helmet and boots, will get the rest of the gear when I can afford it.

I'm so gutted and livid. If its not your time, it really isn't. These are incidents where we are just passengers and we pay a hefty price for no fault of ours. Those triples-splendor guys could be locals who frequent the route. They were stupid enough to cross the stretch at such high speeds. Not your fault imo
