This is not a how-to video.
The method I'm using is not necessarily the right one. Nowadays, you can find out the right way to do things by searching on Google. If you only want results, that's fine too.
But for me, the most important thing is not whether a method is right or wrong, It's about experiencing firsthand why it works or fails.
All work is done personally and at my own risk.

Yes, birds cool off by opening the beaks just like that. Maybe your little bird boxes could use some ventilation holes, and maybe an inside perch? Love your videos, they are very peaceful and soothing. Hugs to Gwin & Lamp. Love from Australia 🇦🇺
Or change the color scheme to whites or pastels. Drill some holes along the bottom edge and top edge, then cover the holes with screen wire.

Spring is fantastic in the mountains! And birds keeping their beaks open usually mean they are trying to cool off--in a very similar way to dogs when they pant from being too hot.

It wouldn't be difficult for you to add a little roof above the roofs of your birdhouses. With only an 8 cm rise it would effectively serve to keep the original roof of the birdhouse much cooler. Just a thought!

Watching this I just realized how the idea of using creosote as a preservative came about, DUH. Charring creates a kind instant creosote, that inspired 'charring in a can'' so to speak.

I found this in my livrary at home about why birds open their mouths:
Birds have no sweat glands, so the primary way of dissipating excessive heat is by panting, just like a dog. If you see a bird during the hottest part of the day, it will likely have its mouth open. You may or not see that their throat is moving up and down, ridding heat from their body through the open bill.😅
