Brian, I am one of your competitors out of Hamilton County, that being said, I want everyone to know how amazing your craftmanship, your konwledge base and integrity is. An honor to watch your videos.
Nice comment Eric 👍✌🏻
Good morning Eric, I really appreciate that! Just to clarify I don't think we're competitors. There is plenty of work out there for everyone, that being said I am pleased to be your 1st subscriber!
@@GrandRoofingInc Wise words, I'm friends with other roofers in our area and agree completely. Plenty of work for everyone. I made a video a while back but got really busy and never uploaded, maybe I'll start. All the best!
@@ericrhodesbusiness I'll be looking for it, I've subscribed and rang the bell so hopefully I'll be notified when you do.

Well, I'm your newest roofing competitor in the Hamilton county area, and soon I'll have taken ALL of the clients from both of your businesses! Mua ha ha ha! No, seriously I'm not a roofer, and I don't even know what state Hamilton county is in.
I'm here because I'm confused as to what to use to cover a bare plywood spot on a roof with standard asphalt shingles. I was initially going to use felt paper, but apparently the home centers don't sell it in anything smaller than 72' & 144' rolls. The 72' roll appears to be slightly thicker paper. Which is best?
🚫 However, the "expert" at Lowes recommended another option, which was to buy the 1gal can of Henry brand, solvent based roof coating and spread that over the bare plywood instead of using felt paper. Then install the new 3-row shingles(after the coating completely dries I assume). Seems to me that may not provide a consistently flat enough surface for the shingles(??)
Which of those 2 options would you recommend, and lastly, can I just buy a tube of roof sealer for my caulk gun and use it to seal roofing nails AND hold down loose shingles, or do I need roofing cement and sealer?
Thanks.
Watching from Oregon. Thanks for your tutorials.

I’m watching this video today 11/16/2023 From Florida, it helped me a lot , I have to do the same on my roof since the last hurricane 😅. Thanks 👌
Poetry Texas, 30 east of Dallas, in other words, Hells Kitchen ! No Joke, it gets so hot here the shingle minerals are always the first thing to go, the heat here typically will reduce a 25 year shingle, regardless if it's a 3 tab shingle or composite, to a 12 year shingle, the temp on the roof here will read over 140 to 160 degrees on a July day, i'm in the middle of reshingling the southside of my 2 Story roof because the shingles i put on in 2012 are completely toasted ! GAF or Owens Corning brand, doesn't matter. i'm figuring you must be north of the Mason-Dixon line to be able to shingle at midday. Please keep posting your videos, i have already used some of the tips you have posted, THANK YOU BRIAN ! Take Care !
Thanks for showing this craft
Watching from Fresno, California keep up the good work.
Thanks for showing this, I need to do the same repair tomorrow, coming from Nova Scotia, Canada.
From Deming, NM where we regularly get wind gusts of 70 mph. My 9 yo mobile home started losing shingles 2 years ago. Found one guy who replaced the first ones, but his repair blew away as well as more. No one wants to come out this far. I’m going to give it a shot thanks to your video.

I watched a couple of your videos now. I needed a refresh on roof repair. I'm in El Paso, Texas, and the high winds took two of my shingles today and threw them in the pool. Winter! Yes 36 degrees here in Kansas today! 🥶
Portland Oregon, out here we used malarkey shingles. They give us 1”3/4 nail area for roofers that can’t nail shingles property
I know I like using Malarkey myself, but they became very hard to get last year.
I was looking at the larger nailing area on the shingles and noticed that about half the area marked for nailing, only goes through 1 layer. I thought that wasn’t good, as the shingles could melt apart, or if the nail hits just off the second layer, it could blow through the top layer.
Watching from Pennsylvania
Long Beach Ca. I basically do refinery work. My wife is making me repair our roof. Didn't think I could do it till I found your video(actually, my wife found it and is making me watch this). I feel confident now. My incentive is that on my only day off, I can not drink a beer until after the repair is done. Thank you very much. I am 65. I got this now.

Watching In Scotland 🏴
Brush Colorado here. Had a 2"+ hail storm here and had a roofer check my roof today. Very interesting to see a pro at work. Now? If I could just get over my fear of heights after backing off a roof one day, I could do this now. Probably only 20 or 30 sections to fix like you did rather than a WHOLE dang roof! Thanks!
thank you !
