Battle of Yarmouk 636 (Early Muslim Invasion) DOCUMENTARY

  • In our previous video, we covered the Byzantine - Sasanian War of 602-628. As that conflict and Initial Muslim Invasion are connected, we decided to make the video on the Battle of Yarmouk that took place in 636 between Byzantine Empire (Vahan) and Rashidun Caliphate (Khalid ibn Al Walid). Although it was the Byzantine - Sasanian War that allowed Islamic Invasion to happen, the battle of Yarmouk was decisive for Roman attempts to defend, and its results are still felt in the region.

Barking somewehre else? He actually made a point. All abrahamic religions tend to conquer other nations and to lead wars against each other: Mohammed, Bin Walid, Crusades, Ottoman Empire, War against Terror, social tensions in the West because of islamic Immigration. It is a historical fact till today, that Christianity and Islam are in constant battle. Although both religions claim to be a religion of peace.

Then although there came to them Our messengers with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land" (5:32)
Or the Hadith that states "Whoever kills a mu'ahid [non-combatant, innocent non-Muslims] will not smell the scent of paradise …" (Bukhari)
Innocent people are victims of violence. Killing innocent people is prohibited and condemned (Qur’an, 17:33; 6:151; 25:68)
One such verse states, “You shall not kill any person, for God has made life sacred except in the course of justice. If one is killed unjustly, then we give his heir authority to enforce justice. Thus he shall not exceed the limits in avenging the murder; he will be helped.” (Qur’an, 17:33)
Violence has no place in Islam. This is the reminder of the Qur’an - “We made a covenant with you, that you shall not shed your blood, nor shall you evict each other from your homes. You agreed and bore witness.” (Qur’an, 2:84)
The Qur’an does not promote fighting but friendship with those who do not fight with believers on religious issues: “God does not enjoin you from befriending those who do not fight you because of religion, and do not evict you from your homes. You may befriend them and be equitable toward them. God loves the equitable.” (Qur’an, 60:8)
The Qur’an promotes peace and it shows the way to establish the same: “If they resort to peace, so shall you, and put your trust in God. He is the Hearer, the Omniscient.” (Qur’an, 8:61)
Another verse states, .”..Therefore, if they leave you alone, refrain from fighting you, and offer you peace, then God gives you no excuse to fight them.” (Qur’an, 4:90) As the part of the peace process, the Qur’an urges on the polite treatment of captives: “They donate their favourite food to the poor, the orphan, and the captive; We feed you for the sake of God; we expect no reward from you, nor thanks.” (Qur’an, 76:8-9)
The Qur’an teaches us how to treat the non fighting enemies in their territories: “If one of the idol worshipers sought safe passage with you, you shall grant him safe passage, so that he can hear the word of God, then send him back to his place of security. That is because they are people who do not know.” (Qur’an, 9:6)
The Qur’an teaches us to honour covenants with others: “You shall fulfill your covenant with God when you make such a covenant. You shall not violate the oaths after swearing (by God) to carry them out, for you have made God a guarantor for you. God knows everything you do. Do not be like the knitter who unravels her strong knitting into piles of flimsy yarn. This is your example if you abuse the oaths to take advantage of one another. Whether one group is larger than the other, God thus puts you to the test. He will surely show you on the Day of Resurrection everything you had disputed.” (Qur’an, 16:91-92)
We may need to fight back only when gross injustice is committed: “You may fight against those who attack you, but do not aggress. God does not love the aggressors. You may kill those who wage war against you, and you may evict them whence they evicted you. Oppression is worse than murder. Do not fight them at the Sacred Masjid, unless they attack you therein. If they attack you, you may kill them. This is the just retribution for those disbelievers. If they refrain, then God is Forgiver, Most Merciful. You may also fight them to eliminate oppression, and to worship God freely. If they refrain, you shall not aggress; aggression is permitted only against the aggressors.” (Qur’an, 2:190-193)

The Jews fled all over the world, including to Europe. It was Omar, a friend of the prophet Mohammed, who invited Jews back into Jerusalem in 637 after five centuries of being banished by the Romans. Not all of them returned but most of them stayed settled in the Diaspora until some more returned after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire after WWI and the Holocaust of WWII. The commentator fails to mention that the Khalifa at the time (Omar) who stripped Khalid bin Alwaleed from being the leader and gave the leadership to Abu obaida simply because he did not want people to deviate from worshiping the Creator to having ibn Al Waleed as a great icon and people would rely on him more so.. it was a decision that Ibn Al Waleed understood well and humbly respected.

I've learnt about him in my school. I'm attending High Islamic School and I'm also a Muslim. We've been learning this during a subject called History of Islam, so don't get me wrong I don't hate Umar r.a. and Khalid ibn Waleed, on the contrary I am amazed by their contribution to Islam. The reason Al-Waleed was demoted wasn't because of this. The reason is that once Khalif Umar r.a. gave orders to Khalid ibn Waleed regarding the battle he had to fight. But Al-Waleed refused to listen to his orders because he was the greatest military strategists ever and Umar simply couldn't understand Al-Waleed because Umar wasn't specialized in military tactics. When Umar r.a. heard that he disobeyed him, he sent a messenger with a letter which says that he is being demoted. Khalid ibn Waleed didn't open the later the moment it arrived. First he had a battle in front of him, he won the battle, destroying the enemy army and then opened the letter about his demotion. After that he honorably retired from being a general...

C'mon guys, where's the problem about this joke? Our beloved (peace be upon him) himself said that we take anything from any culture that's not against our convictions.
And here in this joke, it is not said "hold my bear" rather "hold my zam zam".
I feel like you're the ones to kill someone who caricatures our beloved.
Please loosen up and smile to beauty.
The prophet has never beaten his wives, he has never killed anyone that mocks him (nowadays drawing his picture) he instead prayed for them not call them kuffar, his heart was soft and beautiful. Imitate him instead.

@Abdelkarim Karim ok let's see where the lies are here.
I said that the prophet never beat his wives. Does that imply you saying he did? Since I'm lying!!!
I said that he never killed anyone who mocked him. He was thrown stones until he bleed, he instead prayed for those people and called them ignorant. “So by mercy from God [O’ Muhammad], you were lenient with them. And if you had been sever and harsh-hearted with them, they would have disbanded from about you. So pardon them and ask forgiveness for them…” [Quran 3:159] Does that imply you saying he killed people who acted like them? Since I'm lying!!!
I said that his heart was soft and beautiful. Does that imply you saying that he was solid as rock and ugly heart? Since I'm lying!!!
I also said that he recommended us to make good use from any good culture as long as it doesn't go against His teachings. Our beloved freed a slave in exchange of learning a new language from the "kuffar". Yet you're saying I'm lying.
Imitate from his beautiful and soft heart and pray for my guidance instead of sending me to hell since you think I'm lost.

OudMan Khabbab bin reported:We complained to the Messenger of Allah (Mohammad ) (ﷺ) regarding the persecution inflicted upon us by the disbelievers while he was lying in the shade of the Ka'bah, having made a pillow of his cloak. We submitted: "Why do you not supplicate for our prevalence (over the opponents)?". He (ﷺ) replied, "Among those people before you, a man would be seized and held in a pit dug for him in the ground and he would be sawed into two halves from his head, and his flesh torn away from his bones with an iron comb; but, in spite of this, he would not wean away from his Faith. By Allah, Allah will bring this matter to its consummation until a rider will travel from San'a' to Hadramout fearing none except Allah, and except the wolf for his sheep, but you are in too much of a hurry".[Al-Bukhari]. Another narration is: He (ﷺ) had placed his cloak under his head and we had been tortured by the polytheists. Nafi' b. Utba reported: We were with Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) in an expedition that there came a people to Allah's Prophet (may peace be upon him) from the direction of the west. They were dressed in woollen clothes and they stood near a hillock and they met him as Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) was sitting. I said to myself: Better go to them and stand between him and them that they may not attack him. Then I thought that perhaps there had been going on secret negotiation amongst them. I however, went to them and btood between them and him and I remember four of the words (on that occasion) which I repeat (on the fingers of my hand) that he (Allah's Messenger) said: You will attack Arabia and Allah will enable you to conquer it, then you would attack Persia and He would make you to Conquer it. Then you would attack Rome and Allah will enable you to conquer it, then you would attack the Dajjal and Allah will enable you to conquer him. Nafi' said: Jabir, we thought that the Dajjal would appear after Rome (Syrian territory) would be conquered.
