Thanks for your continued support guys. It's what keeps us going when motivation is low, which inevitably happens sometimes. Thanks for being along for the ride!
NOTE: Waiting for Ep. 12 Hi guys👋…¿Que pasa🤷🏽♂️! It’s been about four months or so since you dropped out of the CZcams universe… I hope everything’s ok. I’m hoping that you guys met your reassembly goal for Project Thor, and that you then decided to hit the road and fulfill your Mission IN GRANDMAS MEMORY… And that; like Günther, you decided to just keep going on a quest through all of Europe…visiting quaint places and making new friends along the way 😊! Felix mentioned that you were probably busy with mb research and studies… If so, I hope that that is going well for you! Regardless of whatever adventures or endeavors you’ve immersed yourselves in, I wish you all the best (as I’m sure do all of your followers). Just know that, many people eagerly await your return…YOU MATTER! You teach and entertain us in a very Down-to-Earth kind of way, and you are very much appreciated 🤓!!!
Gentlemen, thank you for another great video. I hope Mercedes is watching your ingenuity. One day when you are running the engineering dept. at Stuttgart, I’m sure you will look back at this moment. Don’t worry about filming the cleaning of parts. It’s actually helpful for anyone else doing this to see what works, I also find it very therapeutic to watch. Best of luck!
I have to say, you guys deserve way more subscriptions and likes. Not only for the content, but the production value, which is something most car content creators simply ignore/forget/don't care/can't do. Cheers from Brazil!
Yeah, you’re right Mark! These guys have that special Rhova juju mixed with a whole lot of j’en se qua and a TON OF COOL 😎!!! I really appreciate their work. ¡Come on Episode 12 !!!
Thank you for this very enjoyable series and also the series on the history of the G, they are great. One concern from a few videos back, especially as you put all of the work in on rust removal. I know you see people drilling through newly painted body shells all the time on TV, but I think most of these project cars never see daily use or get wet. I would speak to an bodywork expert, but I suspect that the bare metal, especially in areas like the wheel arch extensions, will need more protection than just a blob of wax undercoat. Those waxes have a tendency to melt and move if they get hot, look at the dirty marks below many Mk. 2 VW golf’s tailgates for evidence of this - that’s the rustproofing wax running out of the drains in the tailgate, sticking to the panel below and trapping dirt. Places like the wheel arch extensions and where plastic trim plugs are inserted are perfect water traps and will most likely start to corrode very quickly, especially if you get road salt or seawater on them. After all that work it would be horrible to see the body start to rust again because of bare metal that hasn’t been primed and painted. Best of luck with the rest of the restoration, my dad had a W460 so this is also a nostalgia trip for me!
Hi guys! Really enjoyed following your journey, especially since I'm from Norway not long from where you picked up the car. Would be awesome to see an update on the project!
Thank you guys for all these awesome videos!! You have given me a lot of motivation restoring my own W463 from 1990 that as lot of the same issues you have been struggling with. I like your positive attitude. Greeting from Finland! :)
Yo boys :: another good video , I am not a critic or nothing but ,I watch all your video's I comment on all your video's. ( even though some of my comments are a little stupid , but from what I hear any comment is better then no comment )so the one thing I see wrong with the video's is THERE AIN'T ENOUGH OF THEM !!!! THANK you your OLDEST VIEWER... from montana
Thanks so much Frank! We sure appreciate your support. We are both a little swamped with other work at the moment so even getting one video out per month is a stretch sometimes. But hopefully things will change next year and we'll be able to dedicate more time to making videos.
¿¡Did I miss episode 12…where you started to reassemble Thor…? Well, I’m sure that whatever you guys are up to is worth the wait. I hope that all is going well 🤞
Great job of being creative and solving problems as you go along. I found it very interesting that MB has the differential housing compressed from top to bottom to provide the space to achieve the proper carrier bearing preload. Most American differential manuals use a case spreader from side to side to provide the bearing preload. Both ways work, but one does it by compression, the other by spreading. Thank you for the video update. I look forward to the next update.
I love you guys all the way from 🇩🇴🌴!!! I’m in the midst of trying to locate some Cr20Ni80 wire to restore an old fuel sending unit for my G. I’m going to drop the fuel tank and clean out all the rust and sediment chocking my fuel pump, and replace current fuel sender, which is not giving me fuel reading.
Thanks so much for sharing your work on this project. Just had a thought: I don't know what kind of recovery gear you plan on carrying but if it can be used to right the car in case it ends up on its side, you probably want an emergency access to that compartment from the inside - you know, in case the car ends up on its left side. Tipping over in a G is something I have actually witnessed first hand :)
¿Have you guys looked inside your tank yet…upper “saddle like” area? Maybe with diesel it’s different and you’ll get no corrosion, but it’s worth verifying… Please let me know what you see. I’m curious 🤓

Case spreader is what the MB manual prescribed, but wherever we asked, we couldn't get our hands on one. So we had to get creative!
Who would have thunk it? You have to compress the housing to make it fit! What! Good job.
