What have we become as a nation? Why are we allowing the legacies of our founding fathers to crumble away for selfish reasons? Our current leaders are insensitive to the cries and pains of our people. The government no longer represents the interests and aspirations of Nigerian citizens. Our national and state legislatures are desensitized and detached from the people they serve. No nation can attain its full potential and development without visionary leaders who are dedicated and committed to the aspirations of its citizens. It is heartbreaking that my nation, Nigeria, has been so unfortunate since gaining independence on October 1, 1960. Visionary leaders like Dr. Namidi Zikuwa Aminu, Kanu, and Obafemi Awolowo worked tirelessly to propel the country towards progress, but sadly, their passing marked the decline of Nigeria's fortunes. Their legacies and contributions to the country's growth and development remain unmatched. I pray daily for a better Nigeria, hoping for a resurgence of visionary leadership that will propel the country towards achieving its full potential. We are indeed in a mess, and it requires a collective effort to salvage our beloved nation.

The north has succeeded in making the political parity purely a binary choice- North or South. Unfortunately Nigeria is not binary it is multifactorial in nature. It is this very aspect that has succeeded in making Nigeria apathetic and complacent, because the very nature of the political strata that should create change and progress instead creates stagnation, anger and frustration in the people. To change this, first and foremost, the idea or concept of quota or zoning must be removed from the national psyche, so that meritocracy can take root.
