Yes! Truer Words! The Comedians!! Allen, Goodwin (we're having a good time aren't we..aaaahh!), Manning, Davidson, Reid (turn it in), Carson (it's the way I tell'em), J.Jones, Chubby ("Good evening! My wife's got two cunts and I'm one of them."), Boardman (Fokker joke), all contributed to the wicked, twisted sense of humour I've got now!!

I used to work as a funeral directors assistant, where we would wash, dress and prepare our clients for their big day. Quick sidenote - everyone's always buried in their sunday finest, so the Zombie apocalypse will be a formal event. Anyway we'd started work on a new client, a woman in her 30's, when Doc (what I called the funeral director as he reminded me of a Uni professor I had) had to step out to make a phone call; he left me to carry on. 10 minutes later he comes back, says 'how you getting on Ewan?' 'Fine, no worries, but I have got a question about her.' I said 'why has got a prawn between her legs'. He said 'What?' Why has she got a prawn between her legs? He had a look and said 'Ewan, that's not a prawn!' I said'
'Are you sure? It tastes like one!'
A guy goes in to a Chinese restaurant, orders a bowl of noodles, eats half and skips out on the bill. The manager's like Bastard he no pay for noodle, picks up a cleaver and goes after the guy. He follows him down the road and in to a brothel and eventually finds the guy, who's now performing oral sex on a prostitute. Manager says 'Oi bastard, you order noodles, why you no pay for noodle?' The guy turns to him, wipes his face and says 'I didn't pay for the noodles, because I found a hair in them'. The manager's like 'What, you no pay for noodle cause you found hair in them and now you're eating hairy, fuckin' pussy!?!?'
and the guy replies 'yeah, and if I find a noodle in there, she's not getting paid either!?!

Dave Allen was an Irish storytelling comedian! He kept his working class Dublin roots, his style was Irish blarney! I believe he was recommended to the BBC by Dorothy Squires who recognised his raw talent! He would land a legendary series called Dave Allen at Large with an iconic theme tune! Though raised a Catholic he would quickly turn against the church and would forever send up the Pope, which got him into trouble! He famously ended his program after the final sketch with the words - goodnight and may your God go with you! He easily takes his place among Britain's greatest ever talents!

He used to do quire a lot of jokes on religion, because of his Irish upbringing, but not exclusively so. He also did a nice turn in horror stories with a humerus twist at the end, modern life, travel and the like. There is a piece called Telling the time which is quite good. In the 60s in black and white, he'd have a cigarette with his drink as he spun his stories, but he dropped that in the 70s. He was a great entertainer.

This is the humour I grew up on in the 70's. He would sit there with a glass of whiskey (later it became water when he had heart issues I think) and a cigarette and your sides would ache from laughing. No topic was off limits and some of the skits he did with his crew are pure comedy gold. You see the same faces over and over, such talent!
This is British humour, often understated, wry, laconic, and never mean. One of my favourite jokes of his is about why there is a high fence around cemeteries? Is it to keep people out, or to keep the undead in?

Dave Allen had a hit TV series in the 70's, Dave Allen At Large, from which some of these clips are probably taken. It was must-see viewing, Dave would sit on the chair telling jokes intercut with pre-recorded sketches.

In his later years , with greying hair, he perfectly describes the aging process in the most comical and true-to -life way. He's brought cheer to millions in his time. He had a knack for story -telling and spinning a yarn that goes back to ancient Irish tradition. R.I.P. Dave.

He also had a great show travelling around the British Isles and also USA meeting eccentric people. A wonderful man and very much missed. ❤️🇬🇧

I remember the time when Dave Allen had died. On a job a man told a story about Dave Allen. Dave Allen is a priest and walking from town to town. Set back hundreds of years.
David walks into one town and asked the locals, Excuse me, has there been any rape or pillaging going on here? The answer got is no. So Dave walks into another town and asks the locals the same question. The answer no. So you see Dave walking into another town, asked a local has there been any rape and pillaging going on here. The same answer. Dave then ponders, where are the boys? I read up on the internet the time Dave Allen died. One interviewer asked Dave what are you drinking is that whisky, wine or water? Dave answers yes.
