Im so glad that drum demos have become what they're now. Back then i constantly went like: BRO ITS AN ACCENT SYMBAL YOU DONT HAVE TO RIDE ON IT
These 3 videos showcasing the custom darks are, in my humble opinion, the best demos of a quality drummer playing I've ever watched online. It isn't all 'how fast can I play' or showing off tricks and complex techniques. It's about FEEL and truly understanding the music. I'm not a drum teacher, but if I could show students a demo of how to play I would pick these videos.
On a separate note, I ended up buying the custom darks after these demos and other reviews 😁

@@Swampfox87 yes, these sound great for everything except quiet music, like soft jazz or something like that.
The only thing is these are a little louder than I would like to, but, overall, these are great. I still love mine.

That's what I was thinking on demo 1! As a percussionist myself I'm impressed on this video
I generally think of cymbal tones in terms of temperature. Some are 'cold' and clangy or anvil-like, especially when talking about certain ride cymbals. Warm, washy rides tend to have less definition in my opinion, or they have a specific 'tick' that we all relate to a certain Turkish product. Somehow, these capture all that heat and wash without being inarticulate. I've never heard cymbals that cut so well while sounding so warm and rich. This is an incredible achievement. Kudos, Meinl! I can't wait to own a set! And believe me, I will!!
So I guess I have to trade in all my Sabians for Meinl!!!! These 3 demos of the CC Darks look badass and sound like it too😈🤘

Just bought a 22” crash ride & it got here yesterday. I have the 10” splash, 15” hats, & 20” crash on the way. Never been so excited for new cymbals 😍
Couldn't have had a better drummer demo these. So much attitude coming out of these cymbals.
Purchased mine after watching this. Found a new drummer/band I like and got some cymbals I love.
I just recently purchased the 14" hats, 18" crash, 20" crash and 20" ride. All due to the way they sounded on the 3 Dark Demos. Honestly, sounded a billion times better live, in front of me, on my kit. Hands down, my new favorite cymbal line period!! It might take me 2 years, but I will be purchasing the whole Classics Custom Dark line!!

Watched all 3. Gonna buy a set off reverb. Was wanting some to play along to old school blink and then switch over to my double pedals for the heavy. These 3 videos have been super helpful. Best ever.
Ive watched the demos of all the different symbols, and for some reason I keep coming back to this custom dark, I just love the sound,, they got to the point where I had to listen to songs without seeing what symbols they were, and every time I heard a sound I like I would scroll up to see what they were and it came back to these custom darks

I have the 18” dark china on one of my bands record. But in all applications, Boy Its Lethal...
After doing a bit of research for a couple of days as i've never had a china before, that is the one i've decided to go with! I'm getting it soon and I can't wait! I'd love the whole set one day! Never been a meinl guy before.
Just bought the 19 inch dark crash and love the way it sounds. Will be adding more of the dark custom classics to my kit.

the 18" trash crash, the 12" stack and the ride sound really nice! Not a big fan of the rest but what a great f..ing drummer!

What mics are you using to record on the overheads?
Those are some Large Diaphragm Condenser mics, that look somewhat like the Audio Technica AT 2020 or AT2035 or AT2040, or something along the lines of Audio Tehcnica. I might be wrong tho.

what overheads are these? they sound amazing? if they are the only thing in this mix?!
If you look closely, you can see snare top/bottom mics, a mic on each tom, a subkick and at least one other kick mic, and a spot mic for the hats. There's a lot of depth so there probably room mics as well.
