I know the feeling. I went from near sighted to far sighted more or less. I can't complain, they said my vision was almost 20/20 in one eye the day after the first surgery.
My problem is astigmatism which was much more out of pocket since insurance didn't cover beyond lense replacement. So I just had the cataracts removed.
Same exact thing for me. From nearsighted to far sighted and no correction for astigmatism because it would have been $4k out of pocket. Despite the annoyances if I had it to do all over again I'd do it the same way. No need for expensive prescription glasses means I can have multiple pairs of cheap reading glasses scattered around, and if I'm out and about and I lose them more are available at almost every drug store for $10 a pop. Less at Walmart.
@3rdpig I wasn't quite that lucky. My astigmatism is bad enough I'm required to use prescription glasses.
I was actually glad to have yo wear them. Without glasses I had to use eye drops because my eyes were drying out. They also act as safety glasses. You don't realize how much wearing regular glasses protects your eyes.
