Did you need to hook the alternator to the distributor to get the distributor to spark
Do have problems with the watch face changing on its own? Mines does it so annoying.
Yep, I've got two of them and they both do it. And yes, it's annoying. I actually removed the crown completely from one of them. There's a new firmware that partially fixes it, now it takes more than one click of the crown rotation to change the face, so it does kind of mitigate it, but it still happens. It's the main reason I don't wear that watch that much, or when I do it's the one without the crown.
The internal chamber temp is the single most important factor for avoiding warping. Enclosing is good, but a good complete seal of the chamber is better, and either letting the chamber pre heat using the bed or using an active heater is best. A chamber temp of over 50C is what you want for relieable ABS / ASA and 60C+ for polycarbonate. With good chamber temp you don't need glues or anything special, just a PEI surface that is cleaned with alcohol between each print.
Hahaha I have the same compressor. I think I'm replacing the reed valves for the 3rd or 4th time now after many years of abuse. The firs two times I made replacements out of old feeler gauges. Might have to try my hand at some kind of muffler because dang is this thing ever loud.
It's disgustingly loud. I've considered making an enclosure outside and plumbing it inside, I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
@@3rdpig Same. I hate mine despite it being a reliable workhorse overall for the money. I really just want to upgrade to a modern silent compressor. 😂
This was a pretty entertaining video and educational too. I'm probably going to pick up one of these printers today. I was also considering the Creality K1 Speedy but the Flashforge is $182 cheaper right now at my local store and they seem very similar.
For $300 it's hard to go wrong unless you want one that's already enclosed and with a filtration system. But but A5M Pro is $500, and at that price point, I'd start looking at the Qidi Tech Q1 Pro. It's on sale now for $450 and not only is it enclosed, it's also heated and has a 350c hot end.
Just got my 5M last weekend and I'm having trouble with the wifi not connecting after turning the printer on. It will not even show any networks to connect to. I then have to power it off and back on again then it will show the wifi icon in upper right corner of the screen and all is well... until tomorrow. Other than that I love this printer.
I noticed two things on mine. First, the wifi module on the mainboard is very slow to initialize, sometimes it takes 2 minutes before it's showing access points. Second, it fails to reconnect after being powered off and on. On mine setting a static IP cured the issues. Well, it probably still takes 2 minutes to initialize, but since it reconnects automatically with the static IP I never notice it.
@@3rdpig Thanks for the reply. I will try that and see what happens when it gets turned back on tomorrow morning. Thanks again.
Check out getting a carbon fiber sheet for printing nylon, scuff it up, use some aleene fabric glue and some vinegar on the carbon fiber sheet. Best surface I ever found for printing nylon.
ive been using this for parts and stuff for my builds and 3d printed planes compared to my ender 3 neo max its night and day in quality with sunlu pla+ which i never had a issue with printing and tends to be stronger and lighter then regular pla
ASA should not warp any more than ABS does. I guess it might be the specific brand you use. I've been printing for 10 years now and only in ABS, and the last years ASA is slowly replacing ABS as my go to filament. It has all the good stuff of ABS as well as UV resistance, so good for outdoor stuff.
I've printed with a bunch of different brands of ABS and never really noticed any difference in warpage between brands. I've only printed with one brand of ASA and I guess I just assumed that like ABS it would all be about the same. But based on this one roll, it seems to warp quite a bit more than ABS. But I'll get a different brand and give it another try. Thanks for the comment!
Have you added any filters for printing these types of filaments?
What kind of filters are you talking about?
@@3rdpig There are hepa filters that flashforge sells that go behind the grates in the back of the main print chamber. They come standard in the 5m pro. Not sure if they help with anything without adding fans behind them too. But just wondering how the fumes from ABS and ASA were without filtration or ventilation.
With PC you should heat the chamber, put the thermometer in there and try and get get to at least 60, 55 will work most of the time
For printing POM, you will need a heated chamber of between 70°C and 80° and pre heated for 10 mins or so and a bed temp of at least 120°C and print it extremely slow, around 20mm/s
Mmmmm, mozzarella
Now here's a guy I can get along with!
I like to install AC kit in my 1973 CJ5 Jeep 258 motor my jeep never had AC I know the pump would mount on the driver side of the engine. I wish someone out there can share some information on a install. The only video I find out there is yours.
On mine the compressor goes on the passenger (right side as you're sitting in it) above the alternator. On the other side is the power steering pump and and on the other side the smog pump above the power steering pump. The kit I bought had all the parts needed to mount the compressor as well as all the hoses, dryer, condenser and evaporator. It was a weekend install and really wasn't that difficult.
@@3rdpig alternators mounted on driver side. On the passenger side is only a power steering pump my 1973 cj5 Jeep never had Power steering but I upgraded it. If I can figure out how to mount the AC compressor I think I got it but just don't know
I ordered the enclosure kit the day my printer arrived, and the kit parts were my first prints. I think printer mods are a fun way to learn a new printer. My front panel strip started falling off since it was just a press fit so I glued a couple of magnets to it and now it is fine. The best thing I found with the enclosure is just noise reduction. Fast printers are loud.
Yea, that strip is badly designed. Considering that some of the part design is quite ingenious, I have to think that either someone else designed that strip, or the designer just lost interest at that point.
Just bought mine today !
I think you'll love it! I've done videos of the complete enclosure process as well as one that will go live tomorrow morning on printing ABS, ASA, PC, Nylon and POM (Delrin) filaments and one coming up soon putting a camera and light strip in it!
@@3rdpig first few print were great. That free filament though lol. They could have sprand for a small spool haha
Dude, there is a pocket in the black cover, the instructions and the spikes are there. You didn't need the instruction anyway, Great job. I just got one for the beach.
I found them later on in the video, you must have missed it.
Great video. Explains a lot. I took this to work. I let the professional welder use it. it kept throwing breakers. He threw it away. Good thing I got it back because I had the settings all wrong.
Fun video! I was planning on getting these bulbs and came across this video with the same BULBS and same car model. Thanks for the installation process! - Cadillac Deville DHS 2003

Just what I needed, bought one last night and it was great to watch your video, thanks going to save me some grief A saying from a fortune cookie: " The expedient thing and the right thing may not be the same thing"
Nice work. The enclosure doesn't look too bad.
Thanks!
Esto no tiene que ver con el jumper. A este jeep le esta sucediendo otro problema de inyeccion, de electricidad o que se yo pero del jumper no, el jumper eata trabajando perfectamente bien.
The one thing I don't get is people who buy a 3D printer who don't wanna print stuff for their printer and customize it, it's just weird, what r you buying a printer for in the first place, to print plastic of course why not customize the machine that's doing it, to look the way you want it to, you gotta have a little bit of DIY in you to buy a 3D printer to begin with unless you're buying it to print toys and trinkets and stupid ish like that....................
I'm a bit of a mad scientist and I've modified just about everything I've ever owned, but for some people I suppose their printer is like their toaster, they don't want to modify it, they just want their toast. For example, if I bought a printer to make prototypes for my business, I wouldn't want to spend time modifying the printer, because that's not advancing my business, I just want to get on with making prototypes.
@@3rdpig yeah but if you're just making prototypes the regular version of the printer with PLA is fine but even the pro version doesn't have a heated chamber so I think ABS and ASA would be a challenge especially larger parts, but who knows
I mainly use my 3d printer for functional parts, so doing cad design for parts takes most of the time. Doing mods to the printer isn't a big deal for me. All the bambulab lovers swear by not doing any mods to the printer. But 3d printer prices have become so cheap that even an enclosed 3d printer isn't much more.
@@oneanother1 yeah but if I'm going to buy an enclosed printer it better have a heated chamber cuz even though sometimes it's not needed it sure does help, and the Q1 Pro for the price you can't beat it
They got my ass covered lmaoooo!
great video!
Thanks Chuck! Great video that I learned from. My auto climate control will work for 2-3min then no display or operation after it fades out. I may reflow some solder joints and see what happens. To be a 95, it has major electric controls!!....smh. thanks again
I honestly wished I could have fixed it right, but even if I had have torn it all apart to get the failed motor out there was no replacement available, I would have either had to fabricate a new control board and motor, or put a used on in. I still intend to reflow my information center, but I haven't gotten around to it yet, and now that it's 115 degrees in the afternoon, that ain't happening until summer is over.
@3rdpig i reflowed my VIC , the terminals where the plug connects to. It's been working ever since. I tried the solder connections on ATC with no luck so I guess I will purchase a used one. I noticed there are at least 2 if not 3 different models numbers for the ATC unit....Hopefully they just changed the #'s each year or something?
Just plain old fashioned honesty...no BS just tells it like it is. Thanks Pops. Subscribed!
Amazon carries the enclosure kit now. I bought mine from aliexpress but would have preferred amazon.
I ordered from AliExpress and it was delivered by Amazon. I had checked Amazon and it wasn't there when I ordered. Oh well, as the comedians like to say, "Timing is everything!".
working fine isnt good enough that printer could be amazing if u install the klipper mod
I've got a ironclad rule, "Upgrade only when there's a compelling reason". What's the "compelling reason" for me to upgrade to the mod?
@@3rdpig for one it eliminates the purging amount when changing filament and unlimited customization

Ok, then what's this? github.com/SoftFever/OrcaSlicer/releases/tag/v2.1.0
My test cube didn’t print either 😂
Good to know, thanks!
@3rdpig is that the big dice looking thing? I tried printing it twice and it failed at same point each time.
I mean by the looks of the way 3d printers are going, looks like the market is down. No one seems interested anymore, and they are either too expensive or very cheap because no one wants them. This machine needs to be 100 dollar cheaper, then I could see myself buying one. A lot of 3d printers are so cheap right now, they are all going down in price all the time.
Where's your proof that the market for 3D printers is down and "no one wants them"? If you're going to make statements like that you should give some cites. Cause I gotta tell you, if the market were down and no one wanted or was interested, we wouldn't be seeing new models released like we are.
@@3rdpig just from what I'm seeing in all corners of the 3d printing space. I could never have imagine a 400 3d printing selling last year for less than 100 bucks. Granted newer models come out making them less appealing, still. Even bambulab cut some their prices. CZcams 3d printer reviews viewership is low. 3d printing is my hobby, so I follow it closer than others. I've followed your 3d printing stuff from way back too. Idk, we'll see if it picks up again, doubt it.
I disagree. $299 is crazy cheap. It's fast, reliable(mine is). You can easily enclose the unit. It looks finished. It does not need to cloud to operate. The a1 mini also is a good buy, but it does have smaller bed. If you need multi color of course that would be the way to go. But I'm older and remember if I wanted a customer part made if could easily run into the thousands. 3d printers of almost any type today are amazing.
@@cpace123 its not a bad price, its been that price for awhile now. I'm on a creality k1, which can also be found for 300 bucks. With the k1, you do get a little more value out of it. The open source klipper firmware is nice to have. I still prefer bed slingers, still can go fast, and most are cheap nowadays.
@@cpace123 its not a bad price. The creality k1 can be found at similar price, a bit more value considering it has open source klipper firmware. I still prefer bed slingere, can go fast, and cheap nowadays.
You will have your enclosure made before mine arrives, do you think it will be capable of printing nylon?
My enclosure is done, I haven't tried nylon yet though. I've done ABS and I'm going to do ASA today while my roll of nylon bakes in the dryer. I'll have the enclosure build video up in a few days and hopefully the first of several filament tests up shortly after that.
I haven't had to use any glue or Hairspray on my printers since I started and I started with a cheap Kobra neo I have the AD5M an A1 and mini and Q1 pro never had problem with sticking with any type of filament, you may need to update your firmware if you didn't already

I just got mine about 4 days ago and I'm having a lot of failed prints it's just the language I don't understand but I hope to learn just like you man ! Keep up the good work😊
Let us know what's going on and maybe we can help!
Those tolerances are spot on! If you have the step files maybe creating your own STL and slicing that might be the way to go. Or check out the STL in Orca by using the fix command, I have had some bad mesh data in STL files before and the fix repaired it.
A5m pro is a waste of $$$$$ and u made a great choice fantastic printer for the $$$$
I like to put my filament on a spool
LET THE MACHINE RUN ITS CYCLES
Make sure you check off the level bed box every time before you start your print YOU WILL HAVE 100% SUCCESFULL PRINTS. you will see the little box where the start print screen is. prints take a little while to start be patient and it will start. the printer has its cycles it goes thru. other brand printers like bamboo take even longer
Will do, thanks!
Search up Orca-Orca-Flashforge, Its a fork of Orca by Flashforge, it works seamlessly with the 5M on stock firmware,
I get 1 or 2 printers every year, and I purchased the flash forge 5m. My last two. The kobra neo and neo 2. While decent printers. But I would easily replace both of those with another 5m. If I had not already purchased them this last Christmas. The flash forge 5m is so much faster. Even after install klipper on my Neo's. The quality of the prince are great. And it looked like a finished product. Have you tried Rapid PLA? It is my new favorite for high speed printers. I did do one thing and buy a stylus at the dollar store for the screen. That helps a lot.
I haven't tried Rapid PLA yet, but it's on my list to try. I've got a couple of styli around, including a couple made by Cross. I'll have to find out what junk drawer they're stashed in.
That little Flashforge printer seems to be a very nice unit, especially for the price. If I hadn't bought an QIDI X-Plus3 last summer to augment/replace my older Geeetech A20M, I would definitely be looking at that unit. The Qidi has a slightly bigger build volume, but not much, and I don't print large objects (or at least not often). It looks like your printer is running on Klipper, like mine, and I also added a camera...plug and play, just like yours did. Looking forward to your modification journey...
Thank you very much this video was very helpful for my 3D printer
You're welcome!
I read somewhere that the PLA+ filament has a bit of TPU added to it, this apparently makes it more fluid. Before I got my X1 Carbon I had tried Orca slicer but I had got so used to Cura it was hard for me to use anything else, I was forced to use Bambu Studio and Orca Slicer and now I love using Orca Slicer. You should check to see if your camera works with Orca, you will need to press the little play button under the video screen on the Device page of Orca Slicer and switch the setting to HD if your camera supports 1080P, the default is 720P. Orca handles the video in real time with no latency! You know chuck it still amazes me how fast these new printers can print and yet the quality is just awesome, I guess it's because of the PAP turbo cooling fans and well part coolindesigbedg fan ducts. You should slice some of those parts for your old printers and see what the time difference is, Im guessing that first part would take around 2.5 days
I needed to get a printer that was much faster than my existing cartesian printers and that could print high-temp materials, I was sick of Creality machines having issues that they never fixed and so I decided to go high end and I bought a Bamu Lab X1 Carbon Combo.I was impressed that they do regular updates to the FW and SW, and the reviews were very good also. The printer is awesome, it just works and the quality of the prints are perfect! That spool holder on yours looks very small! and it sounds like those leadscrews need lubricating. I sprayed a concrete paver with Plasticoat and placed that between the printer and the desk, it helps massively!
That's a nice printer, I'm sure you're loving it!
Will it function with a Lithium Iron Phosphate battery?
This is what they say, "Compatible with all 6V/12V/24V 100-2000CCA lead-acid batteries, including conventional flooded, AGM flat plate, AGM spiral, gel and EFB batteries". In some of their marketing materials they also claim it's compatible with lithium batteries, but they don't go into specifics.
