as a kid back in the 70s and 80s they used to drain the Rice feilds here in South Louisiana and for a fee of $5 you could walk the feilds and pick up all the Fish and Crawfish you could get over the two day weekend.. We would catch by hand 100s of pounds of Catfish, Bass, Crapie and Crawfish. The Seafood would last our entire family until the next Rice feild draining season. They stopped doing it in the late 90s because of liability and insurance reasons. That was something my family enjoyed doing for many many years..
Wow is that what you call a pond in the states? Here in the UK I'd call that a pretty big lake or reservoir hahaha. I understand why you're dredging the pond and the long term benefits of doing it. And whilst I never like to see fish being killed unnecessarily its good that they went to feed some other people that needed it. Derek
From what i've learned is that if you have a pond for fishing don't drain it or kill off the fish because the longer they live in that body of water the better they adapt to it. The fish that adapt best pass that on in their genes to their offspring, the offspring then create even stronger genes that get passed down again and so on, the longer that the pond stays full the stronger and healthier the fish become. Which leads to bigger fish because they know how to find food better then others
WestCoastFishing well the fish that did survive would be the most resilient, they can stock it with what ever they want after the purge...theyre lucky people i hope i have something like that to share one day
Andrei Tamas, because it is actually healthier for pond over its lifespan. Improves the living conditions and the habitat. It's best to do it every 20-25 years.
Should of tried to save the bass. The longer they live the stronger their genetics become as they pass it down through their offspring, which in turn leads to a stronger more healthy strain of bass. These are true facts, when a bass lives in a body of water for a long time it adapts specifically to that body of water and learns how to survive the most successfully. This gets passed along in its genes. Either way i'm sure this isn't a fishing pond so it doesn't really matter how healthy your fish are but if you were into fishing then this would be the best way to develop the healthiest fish possible
WestCoastFishing how could u guys kill carp it's like the same thing as killing bass they're both fish and it's not their fault they reproduce quickly i like catching carp
WestCoastFishing damn Asian carp (big head & silver) are crazy hardy too. I hunt flood plains close to the Mississippi River and walked past a small body of water. Small like 8 foot by 12' & 3'ish deep. I walked over it (frozen) & saw two Polaris rangers drive across. Last week it was warm enough to melt and I saw two carp sitting by the edge... still alive... I pulled them out for the raccoons but damn! Everything else dies that cold but the invasive carp still thrive. At least they make good bluecat cut bait
WHY R U DRAINING THE POND AND CHUCKING THE FISH? YOUR JUST LEAVING THEM IN A COOLER WITH NO WATER. AND WHEN U DO THAT IT LOWERS THE FISH'S LIFE EXPECTANCY.
Why in the world would you kill all these helpless fish?! They have families just like you and me, do you not have a heart?! Just look at the profile avatar of this kid, wouldn’t expect any less
Thanks for standing up to this monster through your comment and raising awareness for fish cruelty, Ike you seem like a stand up guy and I applaud you and raise awareness for you as well. All those who read this comment be aware of the awareness raised in this comment. Thanks.
Dude y’all could have put all those fish in a smaller pond and made a hella good fishing spot

why did they drain it?
That’s awesome, I wished they would allowed y’all to sign a liability form.
@@martinl2930 Probably to harvest it.
Beautiful.
Wow that's awesome!
That looks like so much fun

Everyone freaking out because of some deaths of fish in pond. Probably still eating fish caught in commercial fisheries.
Richard well they are killing them for no reason
Andrei Tamas, because it is actually healthier for pond over its lifespan. Improves the living conditions and the habitat. It's best to do it every 20-25 years.
Kyle Delk i learned something new! , so do you refill it with like tap water or the rain water comes & fills it up?
+fifaworldcup2011 half and half
Kyle Delk but why kill all the fish?

Houston Is My City just deal with it!
Did you take the fish somewhere else or did you just let them die?
Did the bottom of the lake get re-contoured and was any structure (rocks/deadfall)?
Can we get a rip to all the bass😖😂
I know right rip
I would've kept the bass and put them in a pool the fish for them
Same
Private ponds usually get over run with carp.
hahaha rip for head phone users that have the volume at full blast
Why would u kill all of these fish I garenty u did not eat all of them I am sure u left them to rot especially the bass
Satisfied
Breaks my heart!!
Whyyy did the drain it though?
All of the big fish are grass carp right ?
feels like you are torturing some of those fish for fun. if they have to die kill them. dont stick them in mud and laugh as they struggle to breathe.
They did have some nice large mouth bass to
What's the biggest you guys got up there
What I'm wondering is how did the grass carp survive in that tiny pond?
a carp can live in a damn mud muddle
Anything bigger than 5 acres would be considered a lake. That's actually a pretty big pond.
I suppose you drained the pond so you could dredge it out?
Looks like a carp to me
Them keeping that big bass pissed me off they should have relocated it
There’s literally one decent bass which wasn’t even that big lol
Those are karp dumbass
GoombsEXE jump to 3:26 genius
Such lakes need to be regularly cleaned and bottom sediments removed. This can be done using a motor pump and a Bagermaster suction nozzle.
si thsi pretty much the way a swamp is drained?
Why was the pond drained
What a lovely way to treat the poor fish.
i have done this its verry fun
What did you do with the fish?
Fed lots of people in the community that needed it
Kyle Delk good to hear! :D Im sick of good edible carp being wasted!
Edible if your desperate
WestCoastFishing lol
you don't eat huge disgusting carp, you literally murdered everything in that pond.
? How is it health for the pond to do this ??
Alex Arias you have to replace the water over a certain time period, because the water quality/ oxygen percentage degrades over time
Why drain a pond with LIVE fish?
Big net
Can someone tell me what was in the pond?
What fish*
I think Carp and Catfish. not sure :)
carp, bass, probably other fish too
i saw some carp bass panfish and catfish
Ah carp... horrible invasive species up here. I never let em go live when I catch them.
WestCoastFishing how could u guys kill carp it's like the same thing as killing bass they're both fish and it's not their fault they reproduce quickly i like catching carp

Bunny Donnelly here in Florida they put them in the water on purpose for the seaweed. I think they only release females tho
Bunny Donnelly carp arnt envasive anymore, there an adapted species. Meaning there just like any other fish now
not common carp but if your talking bout silver carp i can agree
Damn shame. Thrown in the mud to dry. I’m sure there’s a creek around there. Could of saved atleast the nice bass.
Where is this? very cool to watch.
South Carolina, Thank you, it was one of my first videos, I've since learned a lot about film making, check out my channel if you'd like!
This did not show how to drain a pond
im glad greta didnt see this
Feesh are freinds, not pond drainnig victims
What did you do with all the fish? Seems like it woul be better just to put them back in some fresh water than kill em all
U didn't release the fish
fish genocide
WHY R U DRAINING THE POND AND CHUCKING THE FISH? YOUR JUST LEAVING THEM IN A COOLER WITH NO WATER. AND WHEN U DO THAT IT LOWERS THE FISH'S LIFE EXPECTANCY.
He gave the fish to people to eat and if you take a fish out of water it will die
He was dredging it
That is the point dumb ass. They went to feed people who needed it.
Also please learn to spell you fuck.
Th3ComanderzZ he will probably eat them.

how can this be legal its like genicide
No it fucking isn't
Im a vegan
Obviously you have know idea what the word genocide is, nor do you know how to spell it. Take your vegan shit elsewhere.
I'm.
Explains a lot.
WHY DID YOU DRAIN THAT POND URE EVIL
He was dredging it
Gayle Demny word nazi
+Andrei Tamas you need to dredge a pond every 20-25 yrs
but the fish they die if you dont go and get them and are your sure you have to
+Andrei Tamas yes and the fish have to did
pretty fucked up the way yall treat them fish
That's why the world is all fucked up. It would be a lot better for the environment if they just relocate the fishes. Unecessary 👎
I respect ur job. But the game fish should be moved to another location rather than just killing them. It’s disrespectful to the animal.
