My Cheyenne back in high school had portal axles and shaved-down mud-slinging tractor tires. Without portals, it would be hard to control in the mud bog pits. It would torque roll like crazy causing you to get stuck. This TRX4 is modeled after the 90s and early 2000s mud bog trucks. I love it. Needs super swamper tires to finish the scale look. Great review.
Just found your channel, good review here of the high trail. Now, some constructive criticism, not trying to be rude but maybe ease up on the faux zoom in and out effect while you are talking. This is usually done with 2 cameras and used to emphasize a solid point from time to time and I see people over-doing this all the time now by cropping in with editing and I can't help but find it distracting when done to excess. Thank you and please keep making these videos, I am subscribing and liking right now.

No trucks direct from the dealer had portal axles, so what's your point? Portal axles are aftermarket add-ons. It's a scale-lifted Cheyenne which many people built them up just like this in the 90s and early 2000s. I know cause I still had mine with recently deleted portals to straight axles.
Got a couple my RC buddies that have bought this rig and like the looks and typical functionality of the TRX4 platform but complain because it doesn’t crawl good! It’s like duh! The “Hightrail” term means it sits high! HCG ….it’s more of a trail rig than a crawler! Sure it’ll crawl some but will roll easier than most typical crawlers.
One thing to mention. I just bought one and I was curious as to if you NEED to stop when shifting from low to high. I couldn’t find an answer so I called TRAXXAS. The gentlemen I spoke with stated that you NEED to come to a complete stop when shifting the transmission. He said obviously it COULD be done in motion but it’s not recommended.

I ordered the black k10 high trail just waiting for it to come in but after watching videos forgot to get the battery for it ordered the charger but no battery but that's fine after I get it then I will order the parts I need for it
DO NOT GET IT IN SALT WATER!!!!!!. Sand is fine just clean up afterwards with fresh water and high pressure air hose. Before you go to beach spray th vehicle with Pledge dust remover this way the sand will come off easier with air and water.
Hi. Would you reccomend Absima Crawler Sherpa CR3.4 4WD RTR? I am new to crawlers, did some research and i am wandering if Absima Sherpa is nearly as good as Traxxas TRX4 and Axial Capra 1.9 or Axial SCX10? Thanks in advance.
The Carolina Squat has been outlawed and justly it's stupid looking, dangerous and hard on the drivetrain. So maybe now they should go Doggy Style and slam the front-end while jacking up the rear end 😂😂😂
lot of tire rub maybe they should have thought about putting the 1.9 tires on there I would like that better anyway tires are easier to find and a whole lot more to choose from and little cheaper... I have three TRX fours and the max I think I'm going to pass on this one though... maybe put a lift kit under my blazer and find a decent looking replacement body for it that Blazer body was a real let down I was expecting more realistic detail like the Bronco
the difference in the bodies is the cost really. I think the 2021 bronco comes in around $220. Tons of plastic, assembly, and detail. This new body I think was meant more for beating on it and keeping top weight down.
It's not recommended that you shift from low to high gear while moving bring vehicle to a stop and definitely don't shift from high to low while moving you will break something I Look To The Future for a transfer that you can shift while moving but not yet
Is it just me or do the windows and roof of the cab look to small in comparison to the rest of the truck? Maybe it's just the larger tires but something looks off
If you want a rig with a high COG and doesn't crawl as well as it can then ya, great rig. Most folks chose looks over performance. It is a cool rig either way.
It's a TRX4 It crawls better than my bronco and my defender. The body is paper thin and super light compared to the hard bodies. It's nowhere near as tippy as you would think it is. It goes everywhere my Enduro Ecto & Vanquish VS4-10 Phoenix Portal goes. Axial Gladiator doesn't even come close. All I did is add brass to my portal cases, low CG battery tray, or use the front battery tray and put spring limiters in the shocks. It's definitely a scale-class performer that's better than most. You obviously haven't driven one. Don't judge a book by its cover.
@@bobking7347 Well I get schooled on "scale" all the time so i'm not sure how it will stay scale looking TBH. I guess it's always a give and take but personally I would go for performance over scale so i'd cut the wheel wells until the tires stopped scraping lol
The first 2 weeks on market is hobby shop only sales. No internet sales until Sept 16 so next Friday. This is something special Traxxas does sometimes to try and help hobby shops. We have yours ready to ship as soon as we can!
If that body is as cheap looking as the blazer I don't want one I bought the blazer yesterday and compared to my Bronco it just looks horrible it's not Chrome for the trim it's decals the Bronco has hard plastic and the body appears to be a lot thinner plastic the front tires rub just driving it across the carpet going to have to trim the body at the front of the front tires compared to the Bronco it looks really cheap definitely going to be replacing that ugly body they had a good idea if they just put the detail in like they did the Bronco... I can't believe the price on this thing is going to be well over $600 why not buy a Bronco and just put a lift kit under it
well this body really isn't very special. It does have chrome looking trim that are stickers so I'd call the body average. The price does come in at $550. The lift kit sold separately is $175. The 2021 Ford Bronco comes in at $550 as well so an additional lift kit with a cheaper type body is not a bad deal. This is the best crawler I have drove right out of the box. Body still rubs tires though
If you would of paid $560 out of your own pocket, you wouldn't of driven into the water like that. This was item sent to you by the manufacturer. I have respect for my RC. Johnnyrum

I got one back in November and I started modifying mine and went from the 2.2’s to the 1.9’s and I think they look more realistic to the scale

I think it is best to change gears when rolling slow under less torque. They can be changed while remaining still or on the fly though.

just double sided sticky tape and a gopro mount. Pretty easy! It will pop off eventually so just reapply

I do like the looks of the vehicle all the features the vehicle has but I agree I don't like the body rub
I would have trimmed the wheel wells if I kept it even though it is scale.
I do like the look of the body I've actually had a full scale of this truck and there is body rub issues
I just feel that they had a full scale vehicle they should have addressed those issues
Because I've had a full scale vehicle and body rubbish has been an issue
A slightly bigger lift or different body would have alleviated these problems

Yes. The internals are the same. Difference is the raised suspension and bigger tires. Still the best out-of-box crawler on the market IMO.

well the bed is flat with no depth to it so that may throw the look off a bit

I put 1.9 on mine and it looks silly. They are too small. But something between 2.2 and 1.9 would look the best.
I have 2.2 wheels with 127mm tires I found on Amazon and it looks just fine in my opinion.
