    One thing i haven't seen anyone mention is the theres a screw under the sticker on the "spare tire" and there's a hex already there if you want to switch to a real spare. I thought that was pretty cool.

    Interesting things in this video. We've had two TRX4-M Defenders for a while now and love them. The light kit is, as you say, a "no brainer" really.😄 Yet to swap the transmission ratios, but may well consider it now. I also like the idea of binding to a TQi controller. 👍

      My utility is to put in bag when I go doing Trial with may bike, to play in some far remote areas... no mor than a few minutes of relax.
      1/10 scalers are really a different thing, because we do long feet trips though mountains challenging each other against rocks encountered duringh the path.

      It should fit, my oldest son doesn't have any problems with it. He's 5,5y.
      My youngest, now 4, does have some problems with it but still ok! Sometimes he just throttles and doesn't steer or holds it very awkward.
      But my youngest can't wait to get his own TRX4M.... Now we have 1 for the oldest and 1 for me. :D
      What almost always happens is that they accidentaly push the auto-trim wheel to one side , so the steering goes off set.
      Also they did have some practice with the Axial SCX 24's. That remote controller is smaller, and they learned the basics with them. They're also a tad slower.

    Tonight I just installed my bearing kit that I got cheaper from Fast Eddys and the Low range trans/motor combo. The low range is amazing. Its so much smother and controllable than stock. I love this truck. The pro light kit works great too. But it will be a waste of money when we start to swap out the motor and the stock esc with the built in light controller. the light kit will be cool for now. till we upgrade the Esc and receiver.

  • @Pezzapoo
    @Pezzapoo Před rokem +5

    Its not always best to put in the low range gearing imo, it depends on where you are using the vehicle, if you are slow scale crawling on a small area then yes go for low range but for us we use the standard gearing as we need more wheel speed out on the trails. Also I keep the bushings as I do a lot of water work where bearings would suck. Tyres, you slate the Canyon Trail Defender tyres yet they are great, especially compared to the Bronco Tyres especially in mud and wet surfaces.

    That Defender looks awesome mine is coming when I have no clue Traxxas site said mid November but I’m still waiting. So I have a few couple of observations into the RC world especially the Crawler portion. I’ve never liked Axial or Traxxas for various reasons which none where bad Crawlers but definitely poor parts choice especially Traxxas with there parts such as servos everyone knows there garbage. I had Elements, Redcats & Carisma. But you can’t be close minded & both have great products. So now I have 4 Axials & 3 TRX Crawlers. So it’s interesting I’ve been to 2 Proline By The Fire events watched countless videos from other events there’s a Axial Feast etc. etc. Where is Traxxas at?? Yes they have some nice RC’s we all agree but I’ve never seen a Traxxas tent ever period. This means no support at events. Proline had Axial, Element , Redcat, etc. All there to support customers & show off the latest RC’s. I’m just not understanding there lack of support for the RC community as a whole. That doesn’t stop them from making money that’s for sure & being said I have 3 Traxxas RC’s is a testament. So they just keep on doing what there doing because the money comes in. Now Axail on the other hand is there in full force to promote & support the Crawler community. They are in a whole different category then Traxxas with the SCX6 1:18 scale Capra, SCX 24 line, 4wheel steer 1:10 scale Capra to mention some of the best. They hit on all areas big small & having a RTR 4 whee steer who else is doing this. And they show up at events & even host there own to promote Crawling & family fun. They also give away items at events donate.And these other companies have sales on there items. Redcat has had ongoing sales allowing people wanting to get into RC’s a very good product for a good price. And have extremely good customer service. It’s just plain odd Traxxas doesn’t show support. The one good thing is the aftermarket community has a lot of upgrades for any TRX I mean look at the SCX24 wow. I’d personally love to see a Traxxas tent showing there stuff at events. But anyways they got my money & also have the Defender M already ordered so carry on nothing to see here😂

    Question.
    If I do use my Traxxas Stampede 4x4 VXL radio with the Bluetooth module, and adjust my endpoints, throttle sensitivity, etc. Will those settings remain if I go back to using the original radio my TRX4M came with??

    Got my scx24 all done up. If traxxas would of brought this out around the same time, i might of bought one.

      Local hobby shop turned me away from buying one. Big scx24 community around the area and apparently the trx4m feel toy grade compared to the scx24. I will probably still get one to see whats up but haven't heard anything impressive.

    0:24 This is due to 3 reasons: i) had to get close to HH's SCX24 price-point of $125, ii) use of cheap Latrax plastics (PETG, some styrene, and PVC), iii) no ball-bearings anywhere, iv) borrowed Latrax electronics. This is a rare Traxxas product (which are usually both well engineered and made using good quality materials): it's well engineered, but made of cheap materials to rob some marketshare from HH's SCX24.

    first thing you need to upgrade is Differential gear to metal gears, the second one is servo (plastics gears inside weird)

    Do these have torque twist with the low speed gears? And if so is it eliminated by bearings at all?

    • @RCReviewChannel
      @RCReviewChannel  Před rokem

      It should have more torque twist with the low speed gears. Bearings will not help this issue at all.
      Counter rotating driveshafts and/or portal axles help eliminate torque twist

    Smaller diam tires also lower the gear ratio, which improves crawling. Everything is a trade off.

    Unfortunately, I don't have any extra RC transmitters laying around as this would be a first RC car for me. So if I wanted to upgrade to the TQi transmitter on this RC, I'd have to buy it along with the new TQi transmitter with receiver unit together, and then buy another separate ESC unit? I guess I'd end up paying close to an additional $200 for just this upgrade alone with the $150 TRX-4M RC.

    Working as an engineer in the injection molding industry for for over 35 years I can attest that $ 5 bucks is indeed a fantastic markup ! These gears are made at the very least 4 at a time, more likely 48 at a time, and run at under 20 second cycles.
    Meaning hundreds per minute. If they were hand made or CNC made one at a time, that might justify $ 5 per gear, lmao !!!
    On the other end of the spectrum, some of these other upgrade parts amaze at how cheap they are sold, but not one gear.

    • @busman2050
      @busman2050 Před rokem

      Very cheap to make, but then you have labor, packaging, distributor profit, transportation from china, transportation and duties, than retailers markup,

    There should be a "Lemon Law" for Traxxas vehicles, in all honesty because there brand is the second worst for failures & breaking behind Tamiya of coarse.

    I really wish they would have made the low range gear the default. The standard gearing is unusable for crawling. Unfortunately everyone is out of stock on the low range gears until May and all of the aftermarket ones that are out currently are the stock ratio. It would not be as bad if it did not take over 50% throttle to even get moving.
