  • The port de bras back in a la seconde is a beautiful ballet movement that involves extending the arms to the side while keeping them at shoulder height. This elegant gesture requires not only the coordination of the arms and upper body but also a keen focus on the core muscles, including the stomach.
To execute this movement flawlessly, it is crucial to engage the abdominal muscles by pulling the stomach in towards the spine. By maintaining a strong and supported core, dancers can achieve better balance and control throughout the port de bras back in a la seconde. Additionally, a tucked-in stomach creates a longer and more aesthetically pleasing line, enhancing the overall visual appeal of the movement.
Keeping the stomach in during the port de bras back in a la seconde also helps to promote proper alignment of the spine. As dancers reach their arms to the side, they must be mindful of maintaining a neutral and elongated spine, avoiding any excessive arching or rounding. Drawing the stomach in supports the natural curve of the spine, enabling dancers to execute the movement with grace and poise.
    Watch until the end!
