  • American climber, Jonathan Siegrist, embarks on a journey to France to pay tribute to the roots of modern sport climbing. After teaming up with Swiss superstar, Nina Caprez, the two climb the hardest routes the Verdon Gorge has to offer. Shortly thereafter, they stumble upon the greater meaning of climbing when they were least looking for it.

    It's heartbreaking to see the guy sit there with the picture of his dead friend. You look into his face and can tell that even after years, there is still so much pain. How much he still misses her ...

      What's the guy's name Bruno something. Is he Bruno Brunod? I couldn't hear clearly. His dead friend's name is Martine? Was she a climber or some outdoorsy person too? Just wonder...

    I really love these short films from Arc'teryx... watching others do in nature, in what drives them is a nice respite from the real world we live in, particularly now. It's a nice little visual escape.

    So much heart in this story and I loved that it became about something more than the numbers. It's the people who we embark on these adventures with that give these amazing moments meaning and purpose to being outdoors.

    The numbers and letters reflect the difficulty. European system uses the 8B, North American 5.13A. Either way, it's very difficult. And you can always start climbing. I started in my 40's and hope to climb the rest of my life. It's unlikely that I'll ever climb at the 8B / 5.13A level, but I can be inspired by those who can. I hope you try it. It's an amazing sport.

    I think it is fair to say that Verdon is the Yosemite of Europe. I am of the generation who grew up watching Edlinger, Berhault and Destivelle dancing on the "dalles et surplombs du Verdon". Other movies you should check out: Overdon, Pericoloso sporgersi,. By the way, I prefer Nina speaking French and German rather than English, but this has nothing to do with climbing... 😉

    Hi Tom, we make a variety of jackets designed for different activities and levels of output. And then it comes down to personal preference and whether you tend to run hot or cold. Rather than fabric, I think you're experiencing a jacket that's been designed for colder conditions.

    • @DarshanPatel-he1zd
      @DarshanPatel-he1zd Před 10 lety +12

      You have to remember something that these clips and videos are not to show just climbing. Don't quote me on this but Arc'teryx films these mini movies for the characters that are in them and the history, connection and the other elements that the climber share with particular route, cliff, rock or boulder. These videos share something more deeper about climbers.

  • @funnybunnytom1
    @funnybunnytom1 Před 11 lety +1

    Lol, you guys do make me laugh as I'm am younger than you. It's not my fault I think this gear is over expensive. I have only bought one product from this company . I was a soft shell hoody thing. I paid £210 for it retail. I buy mountain equipment gear that is as good as or better that is way cheaper. You should try brands like mountain equipment and montane. Same quality and cheaper.

    • @semmtexx
      @semmtexx Před 5 lety +1

      toms3peaks another thing people should understand is there were climbers getting after it with much less adequate clothing and limbing just as hard back a few decades ago. Having the latest gore Tex is not going to improve your climbing. Sacrifice, hard work and patience, are less expensive and more fruitful in the long run than having top of the line gear.
