Please battle las navas
Hi Baz! I was wondering. we always hear that “the heavily armored heavy cavalry was the king of the medieval battlefeild” but it seems like most videos online, including a lot of yours, expressly show them being defeated. it’s just kind of odd repeatedly hearing this being said, but equally seeing them repeatedly beind defeated. could you maybe show a video that shows the medieval heavy cavalry displaying their supposed vaunted effectiveness? something that maybe shows the normative effect of them so we can actually get the proper sense of when they are defeated. because how it stands now, at least among a lot of historical battle channels, I cant think of too many that puts the money of the heavy cavalry where their mouth is. outside of the crusades.
maybe this is an artifact of the more unexpected victories being covered more.
It is a good product, would use the code if i didn't have subscription already ;) VPN that logs no information about what users do is the only one worth using.. quite a few of them log the actions and thus aren't really protecting you from anything.
@@gebus5633 Same, if I didn't already have a PIA Sub! Could have used this a year ago!
Nice video and very informative and very entertaining and very satisfaction more videos.
It's been a while glad to see BazBattles still lives.
AGREED !!
Yeah it's almost like you should make videos to justify your Patreon
@@Ty-bl5pm Not a patron, so I wouldn't understand.
@@Ty-bl5pm his patreon pays out per video, it's not like you're losing money if he doesn't put one out
Hey man, nice picture :) @StevieJr
Been a while since the last time I heard “The Battle was about to begin”
You scoundrel putting that as your profile pic!
Dreamwastakenwastakenwaskatenwastaken oh Dreeeaaaaaammmmmmmm
too long
It was a very rainy night somewhere in Europe. The drops of thick rain covered the roads and prevented people from sleeping. Then they heard a notification sound on their phone. BazBattles new video was about to update...
"The video was about to begin..."
But what the viewers didn’t know, was that this would be the update for a long long time. What happened next would shape how thousands of fans spend there time
This is great. I love hearing about those minor battles with only a few hundreds of men involved.
Same! Small battles where the outcome shapes decades and tactics win the day. Great video.
Only 40 knights on the rebel side.
Me too
A couple of years ago I learned that the last battle on English soil had fewer participants than a rugby match.
Although I don't think it had that much impact outside of the field it was fought on.
that's why we shouldn't piss off the french. bas oui j'ai plus de sang viking que de peuple de soja communiste a cheveux bleu.
Lessons learned:
- Learn to delegate to smart people
- Learn your enemy's movements ahead of time
- Ambush - let the chivalrous complain about it later
Dont drink and drive or in this case, drink and sail
If these vídeos were a game, the ambushes would be the most overpowerd strat by far lol.
And for the long run: use the pope as a homewrecker from a bad romcom or the like.
@L K the best advice we won't take hahaha.
Have more than one son...
I was just thinking that Odo could position some forces in the woods, when the madlad sprung his trap. Bravo
"In a matter of hours, twenty years of Henry's careful planning and effort to preserve his dynasty through succession fell apart."
- Crusader Kings in a nutshell
''The English King spared no effort to control the damage caused by this accident.'' The moment I heard this, I was ''So, he married again instantly, didn't he?'' Guess what, in true CK fashion, he actually did!
Makes me wonder how many times the Hapsburgs save/scummed to get their marriage alliances through.
Whenever I see trees/bushes around the battlefield: *I sense ambush*
Knight: "There's no way their puny arrows will pierce my mighty breast plate!"
Archer: [shoots from behind]
Knight: surprisedPikachu.gif
No breastplates yet, totally chainmail maybe some coat of plates.
@@rishi7629 not plates at all, only chain mail at the time along with a padded gambeson underneath
Youre confusing early knights with late curasiares.
Here's an idea for a new battle:
The battle of Campaldino, 11th june 1289
It was one of the final clashes in Italy between guelphs and ghibellines (Pro pope and Pro emperor factions).
The battle was fought between the republic of Florence and the commune of Arezzo, Florence won at last thanks to his superior heavy cavalry. Even the young Dante Alighieri took part in the battle, fighting as a mounted warrior for Florence.
It would be awesome for me to see it in one of this video!
Keep going like this!!
Up
"with enough longbowmen you can make every battle feel like Agincourt
"Success! William Adelin died under suspicious circumstances, yet no one can link his death to you, my liege!"
It is great to have an Elusive Shadow as a Spymaster
This helps me make my strategies in total war
Also love the content
Bryan Ouellet why? Him using history to win a video game nah video games are kool and winning is kool and history is kool
SCWIBELS You know whats not kool? Bullying.

Yeah Total War, where the sword beats the spear...
Yeah I still dont get that but I lvoe this content and some of the stuff i have learned and seen from these vids help me
Baz: It's a spring afternoon
Me: Shouldn't have done that
OH YES! The Henry Beauclerc campaigns are back! Love you cover this like no one else in youtube!
Whenever high nobility leading an army is mentioned, you know they lost.
@Ricardo Canizales Then the fact they were high nobility doesn't get mentioned.
Alexander the great is knocking your door xd
Who else would lead army in these times? I mean they generally loose to other high nobility.
@Ricardo Canizales Cesar is like: bru :(
@@animeyahallo3887 you're here, at Arknights channels, and anime channels. Are you my alter ego?
Time to watch some rectangles square off!
I see BazBattles upload. I click.
BB doesn't always update, but I love it when they do. So comfy
Please do one of the battles between Spain and the Netherlands in the 80 year war for dutch Independence.
Yes! And the battle of Patay and Castillon
This needs more likes. we must make sure it ends up on top!
Baz making a dramatic reappearance like a 12th century nobleman coming back from his crusade
I literally gasped when i saw this upload. Cant tell you how many times i rewatched the Alexander the Great's conquest series. Thank you for the superb content.
I'm from Normandy and visit frequently Bourgtheroulde, where some of my family lives, it's a wonderful city but I didn't know this story! Was super surprised to see you'd made a video about this little city in my lovely Normandy, thank you so much ♥
I am a simple man when I see a bazbattles nonfiction I click
I love how the caption in every bazbattles videos is perfect.
Man I was starting to think I would never get another battle from you. Very happy to see an update from this channel.
Luis the Fat sounds more like an american swamp farmer from Louisiana than a French king^^
"Henry invested a huge amount of time and energy the following decade to secure his denisty." Poor wife! 😂

hey, I really like and enjoy your videos and i have a tip for you. Please make a video about "didgori battle" 1121 AD in Georgia. this battle was amazing and its one of the most impressive wins for georgian army
it would be great!
wow its stong massage

"It's a spring afternoon, somewhere in Eastern Normandy"....ooooo, this going to be good!
This narrator would have helped me learn more at GCSE History I am convinced of it. His voice demands respect and attention.
I love kings and generals and historymarche, but between your beautiful maps and excellent character icons, you baz, are easily my favourite. 👍
Ah Normandy.. the sight of beauty and terribly fantastic battles.
Love BazBattles! Thank you for your content!
9:59 "the chief problem that kept Henry up at night was still the matter of his uncertain royal succession"
I see what you did there👌
It's sad how many people didn't see this.
Always cool to see these videos. The narrative and visuals make it simple to understand complicated battles.
Ever thought of doing Naval Battles for the Korean Japanese wars? With the famous Turtle-ships?
I third this. Also eagerly awaiting Sengoku Jidai return
I forth this because I am really interested in learning more about these famous turtle ships
extracredits did a really good one on the Japanese invasion of Korea called Admiral Yi, I would check it out! Though i would love for BazBattles to do his own, he is my probably my favorite battle ...youtuber... or whatever lol!
@@selftaughtinfection i know about it but i want more details hence why i cant wait for K&Gs series to carry on and for the return to it here too
Rodolfo Gaming I completely agree with you on that because I love both this channel and kings and generals channel
French Cavalry: *exists*
English Longbows: "So anyway I started loosing"
I believe the time this battle took place the English had not adopted the longbows. Originally it was the Welsh who used them, but when they were later conquered by the English, the longbows was adopted into the army.
It wasn't just picked up and used however, as the strength and skill require to effectively utilize such a heavy bow required a lot of training compared to other traditional medieval bows.
Some fun bits of info about the White Ship Disaster:
-William Adelin initially won free of the shipwreck by escaping on a small dinghy, but tried to go back and rescue his sister. His boat was promptly swamped by everyone and he died with the rest.
-The captain of the ship, Thomas FitzStephen survived the wreck by swimming away and clinging to a rock, but upon realizing William had died, he gave himself to the sea rather than face the king's wrath.
How is this information known if everyone died?
@@Revanchist The information comes from chroniclers who wrote about it several years after it occurred, one of which comes from Robert Curthose, participant in the First Crusade and Adelin's uncle. (Spend the later half of your life in captivity, what can you do but write?) Some accounts state that there were a handful of survivors, anywhere from one to five, although the White Ship incident is often described as "everyone dying". I think that term means everyone who mattered; those possible survivors were most likely servants or low ranking crewman who had the good luck of being strong swimmers. Of course we're talking about history from nearly a thousand years ago, so all tales from the past have to be viewed as accounts and not hard facts.
Those with an eye for literary flair may notice both incidents come off as rather...romantic, for lack of a better word. The young prince dying amidst a noble rescue effort, the captain choosing death over dishonor, there's something very Shakespearean about them.
Thank you ! I enjoy this videos a lot.
I have never heard of this battle. Thank you for covering it
Great video to watch. I almost forgot about this channel Glad it's still going.
This is great! Happy to see another episode of Bazbattles! Keep it coming!
Some of your videos does have a bit of a feel like a medieval chronicle, in a good way
Thanks for another wonderful video
Please. Make more! I have subbed. Do not discourage. Your content is indeed of its own a quality uncontested on high ground!
Awesome job! Great video, as always.
This seems to be a prelude to the battle of Agincourt and Poitiers !
Wonderful, narration. And long overdue, more more.
GG
Welcome back! Good to see you again, thanks for the great video!
Nice work on this one, I had not heard of this battle before.
Well done!!! I really enjoy your work guys! I hope to see some hussites battles one day! i think that would be a great theme for you
You do great work Sir 👍
So excited to see another video! Are there any other battles during the sengoku jidai you plan to cover?
Such a cool video man. I really enjoy your content!
Nice to see some small-scale actions!.
Your videos are great. So pleasant to watch. Keep going😀👌
Didn't know the battle, so just when I thought "another crushing charge.. classic." the archers appeared.
Please keep up the good work, BazBattles!
Do not mind watching a commercial that I usually skip for such a good content. Keep it up!
Perfect timing for a new BazBattles video.
Baz battles uploads. We love to see it.
Glad too see you again
Hey BazBattles! Great to see an upload again. I'm curious to see the behind the scenes type of video, and how much effort goes into animating and narrating a video!
Baz your commentary and visuals are of a very high quality 👌🏻....please do some more WW2 ones if your bored 🙏🏻
You are amazing, you should have to do more ancient imperial romans battles!
Im really excited, welcome back
We need more then one video a month Baz!!!
I miss you guys, so long
Return more often please, you are amazing!
I wish I could have friends like you, nice job
Dude we missed you!!!
I was Waiting eagerly sir!!
Ahh, Baz Battles, what a way to start my day!!
I’m glad we got a new medieval video!!!
loving watching battles where cant even pronounce them
AT FRICKING LAST!
I like that you cover these smaller battles. Gives a better sense of just how dynamic and shifting politics could be in this era, and many others. I just wish a channel gave the same treatment to places outside of Europe, like India, China, North Africa and elsewhere. I know the battles of Panipat of Tarain, but a series on Babur or Aurangzeb would be cool.
well done as usual.
Great as allways
Dude your videos are so good
Would love to see a second punic war series from you man, keep it up :)
Great content !
Keep up the quality, it doesn’t matter how long your video production takes!
these videos kept me going through lockdown
"To the battle! "
Yes!!! Baz battles posts again 😀😀😀
I currently live in Bourgtheroulde xD
That's amazing that you talk about the story of a small village as our xD
I love watching these they give me big brain powers lol
Baz is back! Back again!
Does anyone else like watching when one square quickly erodes and eats up another one? Watching them crumble is strangely satisfying.
@BazBattles you should do the Battle of Loudon Hill
Thank you this late night video will send me to the land of sleep
This would make a great strategy game!
Your video are amazing! Congratulations! Can you make a video about "the Spanish blue division" please? Thank you!
Personally I find mid-evil warfare uninspiring, however your presentation had me invested in Henry and his attempts to conquer Normandy. Thank you Baz Battles for all you share with us!
