It’s even more meta than that - that kind of video does well because YT can sell ads for people offering ways to make money e.g. MLM. So he made $3K from ads on how to make money on a video that explains how to make money.
The transparency here is rare, everyone is usually so secretive about their earnings and what they charge! I doth my cap to you sir, you’re seem like just a bloody likeable chap and no money in the world can buy that ✌🏻 I’m dying to start YouTubing but get overwhelmed every time I think of where to start!

Huge fan of yours man. Your “make $100K a year as a wedding photographer” made me look at my side hustle more closely. I then saw huge potential in it by adding a CRM and seeing how many leads I was getting. Fast forward to 2 years later and I quit my FT job and make over $200K a year as a full time wedding and portrait photographer. Thanks for the inspiration. Keep killing it!

@@chetansingh3593 work social media as much as possible. Hashtag locations that are relevant to the area you want to work. Network with other photographers, because if they get booked they can refer you and vice-versa. I get around 70% of my leads from Instagram and 30% from other photographers referring me when they are booked.

Great job! I was able to do $57,000 last year with corporate and weddings. I am impressed by the pricing on your weddings. They seem generally much higher than what wedding filmmakers are pulling in Norway.

Thanks for the honesty and detail here Eric. One thing that I remind my wife of with her business is that what you ‘make’ as a business owner is different than what you ‘make’ as an employee. Take off your expenses - the space you work in, electricity, camera and computer expenses, replacing those items, travel expenses, etc and an additional 6.2% on anything left over for social security because you’re self employed - and you probably walk away with half that. This isn’t to come against you or burst anyone’s bubble. I’ve been both places and just want to point it out to anyone that’s seeing stars!
Kudos to you. I think you’re doing great and not everything can have a dollar amount attached to it like being with family and having a flexible schedule. I worked being self employed for most of the time my 5 children were growing up and it was well worth it! Keep up the hard work!

I want to thank you for posting this video! It is really motivating for me. I started my small youtube channel a few months ago and was completely discouraged in the past few months not wanting to post. I know it's not about money and it's really something I love to do. It's so nice to see someone doing what they love full-time. I recently got let go in my full-time cinematographer postion and had to continue freelancing.

This is sooo inspiring and motivating! I’m currently a primary school teacher part time, if would be an incredible dream to switch to becoming a creative full time. I’m not quite there, but at the end of 2020 I shot my first wedding solo, in a house and it was exhilarating! Hoping to level up slowly and surely in 2021 and earn a little more, as I get better in this space 😅

Showing income generated has always been my biggest complaint about many of the conference speakers and “influencers”. As a viewer and consumer of that education you never really know if the speaker actually does the work or is simply faking it until they make it.
