    Hey Dad! I am using Pic-Time already. Great video - thx for the inspiration, will test some of that pretty soon. One additional question for you: how or what do you tell your clients about the shop system and why they should print their photos right here? Plus do you tell them, that you are making money when they print from Pic-Time?
    Thanks from Germany! Flo

    • @EricFloberg
      @EricFloberg  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks for wathcing, Flo!! We basically have the same name! 😏This is definitely something I want to get better at. I always talk about it in the booking process to plant a seed and also include it in my pricing sheet and contracts so that they know it's always an option. Plus, the automation emails that are sent from the Pic-Time apps help a lot in reminding the clients and their family/friends (who are usually the ones that end up buying) that it's an option. I always just assume that they know I'm making money off of the prints. There isn't any need to discuss with them that you make money from it. I think it's almost always safely assumed on their part.

      Thank you so much! Such a good question. I struggled with this so much when I was planning on making my video titled "Make $100k a Year as a Wedding Photographer" - I was so worried that my clients would watch it and think that I only cared about money, so that's why I really dumped my heart and philosophy into that video as well. Seeing the response from everyone, it completely broke my fear of making content like this, and I realized it's more powerful to just be transparent for the sake of community and helping other creatives. Plus, one of my brides DID watch that video, and they came over for dinner. The conversation lulled at one point and she just goes "I wanna make $100k a year" and then we had an amazing conversation about her wanting to start her own business. My clients get it and are totally in my corner as a business person. Thanks for asking!!

    The one thing that turns me off from pic time is the shipping costs. They claim that it’s set from the vendor that the print etc is shipping from but I’ve noticed it’s cheaper to actually ship through the vendor directly. Example, order a calendar for $30 shipping cost is $14.99. Actual shipping cost if made from actual vendor is $11.99. Also, shipping say 10 4x6 photos is about $11. Why would anyone pay that much for shipping and how have you been getting around that?

    • @jimvh7557
      @jimvh7557 Před 3 lety +1

      They have labs in Portugal, Uk, Poland and so on. Just be aware that different labs sell different goods so you may need to mix a few labs depending on your offering. All works fine but it just requires some time to learn how all the bells and whistles work. It is very flexible. There are a few things you can’t customise like the gallery shop gallery headers that stay in English even though your whole shop is in a different language, and some emails that are send out as ‘pic-time’ emails instead of ‘your brand’ emails, making it obvious for your customers that it’s a system. Also it still sometimes mixes cms and inches which is a bit confusing. A few bugs but not deal breaking. Margins of 300-500 don’t seem to work for our customers though. Not during 2020 at least and even though we do use the sales and automations. Give it a try but take your time to learn it all. It’s all well documented!

If you're intentional about taking photos of the people they love and people smiling at the camera, people will absolutely print those. Hope that helps!
