How to Measure Oculus Air Link Bitrate in Real-Time (Easy!)

- By default, Oculus automatically sets your maximum bitrate for Air Link and adjusts the actual bitrate in real-time, based on your router and network capabilities. In this video, I am showing you how you can measure your Oculus Air Link Bitrate in real-time.
The router I am using (TP-Link Archer C6):

Changing in 'dynamic' didn't do anything for me. My Mbps transfer on OVRServer was getting no more than around 25-30 Mbps! However, I changed to 'fixed' and set to 100 Mbps. Made a huge difference to my Quest 2 Air Link performance. So cheers for this video and steering me in the right direction. More to tweak, but things are looking good now ;-)
I set mine to 175 Bitrate (Fixed) and it looks the same as the link cable. I could set it to 200 aswell but I don't notice much of a difference between the 175 and 200
Hey question for you. I followed your video and I can tell you my network does not go higher than 4mb ? Is that normal or what. It's also over Airlink so maybe this is not correct numbers ? Any ideas?
thank you and uhhhhhhhhhhh have a good day just kidding love your vids man !!!!!!!!
I always end up setting mine fixed on maximum (200mbs) I'm getting a solid 180mbs, if I leave it on 200mbs and set it to dynamic, it hits 80mbs. The only reason I can think of that it does that is to save battery. Set it on fixed 200mbs for the clearest output. I changed the codec from default to H.264 also and somebody said you can force the bitrate to 400mbs in the debug tool as well. i have not tried that
Good Tip there Thank you! I"m figuring out what my Hardware is capable of at the Moment and if I need to invest in a better Router.
Glad I could help! :)
Help, I set my bit rate too high and now there is a horrible stutter. My air link is unusable. Is there anyway to reset the bit rate outside of the headset?
Try Oculus Debug Tool: smartglasseshub.com/oculus-debug-tool/

I set my but rate too high and now I can’t even manage airlink
I wish this worked. I've got the entire specific setup (dedicated 5ghz for Airlink or VD etc, measured 1200mpbs up/down to the Quest according to the router) but no matter what I do Airlink won't use more than 20mpbs and changing bitrate settings changes nothing about the blurry (but lag-free) mess I'm seeing both on the desktop and in-game. So frustrating.
What about VD? And also wired Link? Could be a good idea to also check your Debug Tool settings
@@smartglasseshub6285 I have the same problem. The bitrate never goes beyond 20Mbps, no matter what I set in the Air Link setting (dynamic or fixed). I have a dedicated 5Ghz router configured as access point, and my computer is connected to it via Ethernet (1GB connection). I'm using Oculus Tray Tool or the Debug Tool seeting a '0' in the bitrate parameter, but nothing is working: the ovrserver_x64 it's stucked at 20Mbps in the task manager. Do you know if is there any configuration file or something that can be overriding the Air Link or the Oculus debug Tool settings?
@@smartglasseshub6285 I've just received the notification of your message but I cant' see it on here. Anyway, I have the 2.4Ghz wifi disconnected, I'm using the 5GHz network in the 80Mhz bandwidth and the type 802.11ax. I scanned also the best channel with the WiFi analyzer..
I solved the issue. The guilty was the Oculus Tray Tool. Since the OTT doesn't have the parameter "Encode Dynamic Bitrate", when the service is started from the OTT Quest Link area, the parameter is disabled in the 'Oculus Debug Tool'. Then, and I don't know why, the bitrate max is set to 20Mpbs. Thanks!
@@alberginiaproductions2520 Thanks for sharing!
I accidentaly changed the bitrate to “fixed” and air link its so laggy that i cant turn it in “dynamic” anymore, is there a way to change it from the oculus app?

@@smartglasseshub6285 maybe instead of just sending a link to an article you actually explain how to do it
@@dankwedd_yt8197 Maybe stop being so fucking lazy and actually read HIS article?
please say ahhh more.
Will try not to :)
@@smartglasseshub6285 I'm not trying to be mean but someone should probably tell you. It's the same as people who say like every other word. Your friends won't tell you because they don't want to hurt your feelings.
@@tac6044 Completely understandable. And I am taking it as constructive criticism and will try to iron it out :)
@@smartglasseshub6285 I like your positive attitude. That's a rare quality.

It was very challenging for me to watch this video. So many breaks between talks.
How many times u gonna say uhhhhh like jeez
ähhhhhhh ÄÄÄÄHHHHhhhhh
ähhhhhhhh
Mine shows 1.4Gbps is that good
Even with regular wired link, the bitrate should realisticly be a lot less than that.
that's surprising actually, is that wireless? the quest2 has a limit of 1200mbps, or 0.096gbps on wireless.
Based on my experience and testing you can not get anywhere near 1200 Mbps. In Oculus Debug Tool, the maximum bitrate value you can set is also capped to 500.
And in reality, it doesn't matter much. Starting from 100mbps and upwards, you start seeing diminishing returns in the overall improvement of the VR quality.
@@smartglasseshub6285 So just so I understand you correctly: I do NOT need to have 1200mbps to get a good experience and stream 3D movies etc? Thank you.
