Give blinded by the sun by the seahorses a listen. It's the best song on album and was written by the singer Chris helme

Manchester and Liverpool are 35 miles apart. It is absolutely ridiculous just how many spectacular bands we've produced from those two cities over the years.
Glad you did the album version of this, btw. More Squire is always the solution.

You should check out some of Ian Browns solo work - Stone Roses singer. Some great tracks.

The Sea Horses were formed by former Stone roses lead guitarist John Squire following the Roses split.

Side note: a lot of people seem to believe that this kind of music was inspired by the Beatles. That might partly be true, but we really have the Kinks to thank for British bands having the confidence to sing about their lived experience - and in their own accents!

John Squire is a very talented guitarist and artist but he's a megalomaniac and very hard to work with. Hence the fact the Stone Roses broke up and him and Ian Brown fell out. He also treated the band in the Sea Horses like kids then they faded away. He's a genius no doubt, but could had achieved much more.

Hi guys. Please take a listen to Ian Brown - FEAR. Another ex-Stone Roses band member and great tune. Enjoy!

I should have also said please don't listen to the live version, as much I love the guy he can't sing for toffee 😃 There is also something quite special about the lyrics to this tune - let's see if you notice on your first listen... Thanks guys, keep up the good work.

The name The Seahorses was controversial at the time with many believing it was an anagram to ‘He Hates Roses’ although Squire rubbished this claim as coincidental.....

In my opinion Stone Roses era (especially at the time of the first album) Squire was a much better judge of WHAT to play at any given moment in a song than Seahorses Squire.
By this point you could hold him up and compare him to any guitarist (certainly in rock/indie circles) the UK had at the time but for me he just went a bit over the top and didn’t “play for the song” as well as in his early recordings.
To be fair he was probably already up there in terms of the best guitarists in the UK at the time of the first Stone Roses album - there are definitely signs of his technical competence but his own filter means they’re just not as blatant as later in his career, which is kinda my point really.

Blinded by the sun is a better Seahorses track. They had some talented guys in the band but comparisons with the Roses couldn’t be avoided.

Blinded by the sun as well as love is the law are anthems.. lucky that lead singer Chris helme still tour's and plays a few seahorse tunes
As well as blinded by the sun.. Please try "you can talk to me"

Ah yes, The Bang Average Seahorses. I've seen them live but I can't think where it was. I definitely did not pay to watch them specifically so it may well have been Glastonbury or Leeds/Reading. Dull as ditchwater imo and with a whole raft of similar bands came along at a time when record companies seemed to hand out deals to anyone that could play an instrument.
Obviously these lot had Squire which made it even easier to make a record.
Have you guys done the Manic Street Preachers yet ? Everything Must Go is great album
