  • 2022 Nissan Altima vs 2022 Nissan Sentra review by The Straight Pipes. The 22 Sentra is putting down 149 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque from a 2.0L 4 CYl. The 22 Altima is putting down 182 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque from a 2.5 Cyl 4 Cyl. At $25,598 and $32,798 CAD, would you take it over any Toyota, Hyundai, Honda or Chevy?

    You guys should do a blinker test, with rear blinkers simply being the brake light considered a fail and separate blinkers to brake lights considered a pass! It's a safety issue of turn signals just being much more noticeable and quickly recognized on the road if they're separate, and would give bonus points to the new Audi and Mustang sequential turn signals for the added flair. A small suggestion but one I don't see any other car reviewers mention. Keep up the good work!

    • @MLHunt
      @MLHunt Před 2 lety +17

      This is a good idea. I'd maybe take a more general view and spend some time evaluating the overall quality of the lights -- headlamps, DRLs, turn signals. There are fundamental safety considerations around these design elements. Cars with amber DRLs lose a point as they are less visible in bright sunlight, and cars with brake lights mounted at the bottom of the bumper lose a point also for visibility reasons. Cars that have amber turn signals gain a point over cars that have red turn signals. Models that reserve the good quality headlamps for the upper trims and include poorer quality headamps on lower trims should also be called out.

    • @damienlee1165

      Ford is notorious for cheeping out on blinkers. The Fiesta and Transit, (and older models like late model Aerostars and Crown vics etc) have/ had a dedicated spots for yellow blinkers in the tail light housing ( the clear spots), but the NA models they removed the bulbs, and made the brake lights the blinker.... cheap to the max. Most Chevy cars while not better at least are designed from the start to have combo bake/ blinker. Ford? Nope you get an empty spot in your light housing.

      Exactly! Buyers would have to be turned down from the Toyota dealership then turned down at the Honda dealership in order to want this. Nissan is like the last option for a Japanese car. Like your credit has to completely be in the toilet in order to want to get an Altima. You can tell who they sell their cars to by the way Nissan drivers drive. These cars are actually both underrated. The Altima will pull .93Gs on a skidpad on all-seasons--Nissan also uses a lot of aluminum in the Altima's suspension. It's unfortunate that Renault doesn't do much for the Sentra's chassis calibrations as it shares a platform with the Megane. Also, the Sentra deserves an engine which matches the design and chassis, both of which are well-regarded. The cars both have unfortunate reputations, meaning very few people order the Altima with that excellent turbo. My choice would be the Altima as the 2.5 liter has enough power to enable aggressive driving, where the Sentra doesn't. Also, it's a Nissan through and through. Against the Sentra, I'd probably choose a new Civic or Jetta.

    Those midnight editions look good, but I'd want something a bit quicker to match the look. I think if you just need to buy one of these two, a used low-miles Sentra in base form is where you can get your $$$'s worth. You can find it with a 6-speed manual which makes it quicker and gets rid of the CVT which has been the only significant reliability issue with them.

    i’ve got a 2018 midnight edition altima and i gotta say, for the price i picked it up for it’s a great car. i keep on top of maintenance (coolant, transmission fluid, oil, brakes, and tires) and she runs like a champ.
    i’ve made a few minor modifications to mine for that fun factor too. z rated tires, catback exhaust, injen SRI, and a 93 octane fuel map+speed limiter removal. the 2.5 actually sounds really good given the right exhaust setup, and so far i’ve managed to top mine out at 140ish. that’s all the speed and fun i need, and the factory SR suspension handles surprisingly well for a FWD car of its size.
